MY FRIENDS AND I GOT A LAST MINUTE DEAL AND STAYED IN THESE APARTMENTS. AT FIRST WE THOUGH WE WERE WELL OUT OF THE TOWN BUT DISCOVERED THAT IT ONLY TOOK US ABOUT 15 MINS ON AN EVENING TO GO INTO THE CENTRE, A TAXI RIDE HOME WAS REALLY CHEAP. THE APARTMENTS WERE SPOTLESS AND WE WOULDN'T HESITATE IN BOOKING AT THE SAME APARTMENTS AGAIN.
If these apartments are the ones we know, they are located in a very quiet area to the west of Sidari, in Agios Yannis. You would need a hire car to make the most of your stay, as the apartments are in a secluded area, just off a small road leading to the hills. Elpida is a fastidious woman who keeps her place tidy - don't cross her, or you'll know it! She has two sisters who also have studios in the same area. They are all lovely people, and we have grown to loke them a lot over the years that we have been holidaying in Corfu. We "stayed with" Elpida for a couple of holidays, then changed to her sister's "Angelica" just for a change. Opposite the apartments is a taverna "Green Heaven" (at least, it was still there in 2001). Not much for kids, the area is peaceful and ideally suited for that idyllic well-earned rest. If you have the courage, get a flight, hire a car, and just drive. Ask for directions to "The Wave" taverna when you get to Sidari, then ask for directions to the apartments (just around the corner). None of the sisters speak or understand much English, but you'll get by. Don't forget to haggle over the cost per night. If you get to speak to Angelica, tell her "Katos" sent you - she'll know who.......
