Thanks to everyone at Ninos on the Beach for making our holiday so special.
As this was to be our first holiday in 20 years without the kids we wanted everything to be just right, ie – a short flight and transfer, a room with a sea view, good food, a large contour swimming pool (it does make a difference!), friendly people, and a relatively quiet resort. After failing to find all of this with all of the main players we stumbled onto Ninos website and booked direct. Once we’d booked a flight and had a taxi arranged by Ninos we were all set for a week at the beginning of June which worked out cheaper than going through the cattle market of the travel agents. This would be our first visit to Corfu in 25 years and our first time in Roda.
And guess what? – Ninos had everything we wished for and more. The owners are the husband and wife team of Nino and Lindsay, a Greek/English combination giving you the best of both cultures in one package. They are one of the most friendly couples we’ve met, always ready to have a chat and do their utmost to help you have a wonderful holiday. Additionally, Danny, their Son (who ran the pool bar and anything else that needed doing) was a great character who was always happy to chat or help.
Our second (top) floor room has been recently refurbished and was smart, clean, and airy with a balcony that looked over the sea to the right and the panoramic mountains on the left. Although small, it was enough for our needs and had all of the usual trappings like a fridge, hotplates (not used), kettle, nice wetroom/bathroom, etc. Aircon and/or heating were available at a small additional cost if needed. The daily maid service was excellent. Our only minor complaints were not enough shelves in the wardrobe for non-hanging clothes and we would have liked more pillows – although we’re sure that if we had asked these would have been provided.
The pool has to be the best in Corfu, if not Greece(!?), a wonderful 50 foot (?) contour jobbie with an attached Jacuzzi that just begged to be used on the hot, lazy days we encountered. With the temperatures in the mid eighties, the temperature of the pool was wonderful and we just didn’t want to get out.
The food at Ninos, be it the daytime snack menu or the full evening menu, was great, cheap, and served to you wherever you wanted it, be it on a sunbed or sitting at one of the numerous seating areas either on the (non-slip) pool patio or the main restaurant area.
BTW, a pint of beer was only 2.50 euros!
The beach in front of Ninos was very small and pebbly but there was sand if you walked left towards Roda (5 minutes away) or right towards Acharavi (15 minutes away). However, we liked this as it kept the tourists away from our little patch of paradise!
Having said that, there were people in the know from other accommodations who would spend their entire day at Ninos (which was open to the public) for the swimming and the food as it far surpassed what was on offer at their own hotel/studio (many returned on a daily basis).
One further endorsement for Ninos is the fact that the Greeks themselves used the facilities at Ninos and ate at Ninos regularly – enough said!
Roda itself was lovely, probably no more than a large village, but it had some quaint little streets to explore with enough shops (touristy stuff) and restaurants to entertain you for at least a week. Roda also seemed to be much cleaner and better looked after than many of the other Greek islands we have visited in the past.
There were plenty of relatively cheap eating places to choose from, ranging from English food (at places like Pirates for a superb British fry up for breakfast or Maggies for real British ‘home-cooked’ dinners – fish, steak, chilli, burgers, etc - that were so huge that you were given a t-shirt if you ate it all) to trad Greek food (at places like New Port and Ninos itself for Klefados, Moussaka, Escallops, etc). All of the staff were inevitably more than friendly and would remember you on your next visit.
On our last day we were allowed to keep on our room until our evening flight at no additional cost.
The sunrises and the sunsets were well worth watching as well.
Nightlife tended to be restricted to Greek dancing and singers (Elvis is alive & well in Roda!).
All in all, a great holiday in a great location and we want to return as soon as possible. Our personal endorsement is the fact that this is the first holiday ever that we want to return to the same accommodation in the same resort. A week is just not enough!!!
Probably not the place for teenagers or people looking for a hectic nightlife, but it suited us two forty-somethings just fine.
Hi to Nino, Lindsay, Danny, Becky (their friendly Roda Terrier), and all of the people of Roda and here’s to our next visit!
We, my partner and 6 year old daugther have just returned from 2 wonderful weeks at Ninos. We were very wary of what to expect after reading some other comments but i can assure anyone who is due to go it's FANTASTIC. The location is wonderful over looking the beach, which granted isn't sandy very pebbly but if you like to go to the beach there are various parts where you can find some sand, as we did one day but with the surrounding grounds and beautiful pool area at Ninos there, in my oppinion, is no need to go elsewhere. Nino, his wife Lindsay and son Danny are extremely friendly and helpful people nothing was too much trouble even extra pillows and blanktes in fact all the staff we came across were very friendly. Music around the pool starts about 10am but i wouldn't say it's very noisy, for my own liking was a little too loud later on at night when we just wanted a quiet drink before bed. Food we tried was excellent, the appartment was lovely and clean, the kitchen facilities were very basic but if you're like me i go on holiday to be spoiled so don't use them anyway but cups, kettle, sink etc that we did use no complaints, bins emptied daily and bedding changed weekly not one bad word i can think of to spoil our fab holiday in fact after only arriving home today we are seriously going to visit the travel agents to book again for next year I can deffinately say the best holiday we have had.
i think this is one of my most favourite places to stay. The beach is NOT disgusting!!!!!!!!!! it's so beautiful. I f you dont like pebbles, litrally walk 15 minutes in to town and there is a beach with NO stones at all, but sunbeds go fast. Our appartment was lovely. Yes, the fridge is a bit grotty but it is fine. The music isn't that loud. It's a wondeful place and would not woory if your about to go. The journey is Very hot on some coaches but as soon as you get off the coach the sea breeze cools you down. The shop round the corner is handy. Roda's town (15 mins away) has alot to do. There are cafe's, restaurants, places to watch films and LOADS of trips to go on! it's excellent!
we stayed 6th of october for one week, we were in the small studios in the main building, very clean no problems, the whole complex was smashing, very relaxing, beautiful pool area great meals, the people were very friendly. wonderful surroundings, and this comes from someone who is used to staying in luxury hotels in las vegas. we found no reason to complain about anything. we will be going again.
My daughter and I had our first holiday together, Katie is 18.
After a horrible journey form Corfu airport we were really looking forward to getting off the coach and getting on to the beach.
After we saw the other people's appartments and hotels I was not expecting much. You could see the look of some of the peoples face's when we pulled up outside there hotels,.
This is Nino's on the Beach, the tour guide said. The beach was horrible and smelly,no way was I going to sit on that sand or the BIG pebbles. So i was rather pleased with the pool and settings at Nino's.
The family were very friendly and the food was good. The only complaints I have is the two days we had by the pool was ruined by the LOUD music in Greek and English, I went to read and have a peaceful time. When a few other guest and myself asked that the music was turned down or off so we could have some quite time,we were told to "go to the Beach" So we did, by the Village. The stench was horrible and the beach was filthy.
The rooms were very nice, only cleaned out the once we were there. Missed a nice soft chair to sit on in the room ( like my home comforts to much) Oh and When we had a 3 days of rain and storms how I missed TV. Films were played downstairs which was a good thing as there is nothing else to do in RODA.
Will I be going back NO we won't.

The accommodation and standards of the whole establishment were appalling. It was a meeting point for the scum of Britain. On the other hand if you like tattoos and discussing council estates, you're in the right place.
Cleanliness is a word not known to the owner. They have 1 cleaning lady for the whole complex. She also does bar work in the evenings/ afternoons and cleans the dog muck off the grass round the pool. Kind of explains why the is no time left for cleaning.
We had mouse droppings in the appartment (old complex at the back), dripping taps that never got fixed, filthy fridge (food leftovers) and dirty linens.
On the last day we paid Euro 20,- for a later check-out. We were put into a room in the new complex. Nicer rooms, but...the beds had not been made, pubic hairs in the shower, dirty dishes in the kitchen sink and the toilet hadn't even been flushed.
Don't bother complaining to management. Nino's himself will just walk away and tell you that he doesn't have time for this. His english suddenly becomes very poor when you point out that the is a difference between "basic" and "grotty" accommodation.
No help from the Golden Sun reps can be expected either. You will be lucky if the rep on the coach manages to find your accommodation in the first place.
We have just got back from Ninos on the Beach and it was excellent!! The apts were cosy and had everything you need and cleaned everyday , as for the pool and jacuzzi they were amazing and plenty of room in the grounds for sunbathing. Nino, his wife Lindsay and son Danny (& daughter Surita) were all so friendly and would always take the time too come and talk and make sure all was ok. The staff, Veronica, Ervis and Shane all did their best to make the holiday and certainly did the job. Its an easy 5 to 10 min stroll to the centre of Roda and about 10 to 15 min walk from Acharavi. We had a brilliant time and will definitely go back!
Myself, my mum and her friend visited the ninos, august 2001 and we really enjoyed it ! The kitchen facilities were poor but we had a lovely back terrace. it was peaceful and had a lovely view! the pool is so nice and clean and the people working there are so friendly and polite! we go to roda every year and we still go to the ninos pool (if staying somewhere else) and it's so nice. There is the music but there are ninos appartments towards the back of the pool where it is much more peaceful. The karaoke is good fun (some times!) and the music tends to quiet down and it's not as bad as everyone is making it out to be! i would definately suggest these appartments as a holiday location! lisa****
We came here a year ago and are planning to go again. It is great if you love a laugh love music and want to be in a friendly environment. The owner 'Ninos' is great is always willing to help and likes to make sure your happy. The swimming pool is huge and their is a bar on site and one next to the pool. There is a shop right next to the apparments and restarants and night life is very close. Try the drunken sailer bar its excellent. were back next year
we are thinking about going to corfu.can anyone send us pictures of the complex."ninos on the beacn" thanks my e-mail address is j_murphy14@hotmail.com
We are going to ninos on the beach in august. does anyone have any info about the resort and accomodation or any pictures?
Roda is one of the best places in Northern Corfu, and Ninos seemed like a great option in the brochure. We booked in March and on May 31st arrived...
We got there at 6 in the morning, tired and ready for bed. Oops. No beds made up. Quilts with dodgy stains on them. The built-in fridge was broken, so another one had been put in the room. The built-in oven was also broken, so a 2 hob electric stove had been placed on top of a plank of wood on top of the old one. This replacement was covered in grime - when my friend went to unplug it she ended up with a hand covered in greasy slime.
The crockery and cutlery all needed scrubbing. The floor was covered with crumbs and under the bed was rubbish we hadn't created. The "daily, except Sunday" maid service rarely happened, and when she did turn up she only emptied the bins.
The bathroom stank of mould, and the water was rarely warm. The balcony (about half a metre x 3m) was cramped because of the amount of furniture on it, and above us hung three active wasps nests.
(hence my reasons for 'Cleanliness - Poor!')
Our apartment was in the back building, the path to which is unlit and irregular... and in the middle of the night toads seem to line it!
We were lucky as I have many friends in Roda who gave us lifts home at night, but in terms of location, Ninos is actually about halfway between Acharavi and Roda - it is certainly a good 15/20 minute walk to the centre of town... the brochure quotes 5 minutes but this is to the edge of the old town! (my reasons for 'location - poor'). It is 2 minutes to the nearest supermarket though (which sells some great Ionian wines!)
The pool is fantastic, marred only by the CONSTANT euro pop being played at full volume from the poolside bar (which is why I say 'Quietness - poor'). The music starts at about 10am and continues through til 8pm ish. Now, don't get me wrong, I love my tunes, but I prefer to doze by the pool in the day, and it just wasn't possible here.
I understand Ninos are in the middle of renovating their apartments, and block 1 has already been completed. So don't be completely put off by my review... some of the rooms we popped our heads into looked lovely - it just seems like we drew the short straw!
Personally, I will not be returning - there is too much good accomodation in Roda to waste time with Ninos. The staff were dour, and in the main, unhelpful and unfriendly, although their tzatziki was the best I've had!
we are going to Roda for the 4th time this year & will be staying at ninos for the first time having sampled their hospitality. Great food, location & swimming pool(new last year).
JUSTINE email me for some pics of Roda:- a.woolley1@ntlworld.com
Please send details for accommodation for ninos on the beach for year 2003 mainly july
we are going to the ninos complex in june is there anyone with some pictures of the resort
There was one more thing i would like 2 add that we didn't have a balcony as the other apparments had 2 each we just had a terraced one some nights other people we sitting there so we didn't have anywhere to sit but we loved an cant wait to go back
We went to Ninos in July 02 and it was very good. we had one of the biggest apparments because we had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and a frontroom and a breakfast bar plus the kitchen had good Faciltys. Plus the shop a couple of meters away where we hired a fan.
i have not only stayed at ninos on the beach many times, but he's a good freind of mine now.he has clean kept appartments which his lovely wife and cleaner, cleans everyday when possible.great outside bar with disco and things going on at night.go to bed when YOU want,is what he will tell you,(when you drop,he sleeps).very good food, and you will be well looked after.what more can i say. dave.
We have just returned from Ninos (Sept 2002) we have had a fantastic time even though there was several storms whist we visited this did not spoil our stay. Nino, Lindsay and Danny made us very welcome and we would not hesitate to recommend the apartments and the resort. We hope to return in the new year.
i'm goining to ninos on the beach in september and would like some pictures of the complex plus info.
It was a 5 min walk away from the town. Hot, good views, REALLY GOOD !
Friendly staff, open late, bad karaoke man, great food, good pool.
any info in general about ninos on the beach in roda-booked for september
The rooms are basic but ok,the pool and bar are excellent. The beach was a bit of a let down it is made up of big pebbles and stone however there is a sandy beach 10 minutes away. The menu selection is good and there is a seperate poolside menu the food was very good.
