For Lorraine, the Domus bar is a lively place, has karaoke, quizzes t.v. etc. not my sort of place but ok if that's what you want.

Bert H

Has anyone stayed at the Yiota Studios before? Is it OK?.

Lorine L

Do you know domus bar in Roda ? What sort of bar is it ?

Just like to thank everyone at the British Bulldog pub, Maxine and Rob, for looking after me and the kids and giving us a good time, playstations, dancemats. A MUST to visit. Will definitely be going back again.

Jenni S

Just got back from a week in Roda today, it was my first time abroad and on the whole I enjoyed it. The hotel we were in was a huge disappointment after the reviews I'd read on this site for it, but we didn't spend much time there so it wasn't so bad. Roda is a lovely town with a lot to offer for the right people, if I'd gone with my mates I might have found the lack of nightclubs a bit of a letdown but I was with my boyfriend so that wasn't really an issue. There are lots of great places to eat, such as Odysseus (I recommend the Chicken Eveli - gorgeous!!!) and Roda Park, and there's a really nice Chinese restaurant too. The beach is ok on the west side of the town, but the nearer you get to Acharavi the more pebbles you get and your best bet is probably to go to Danny's pool and beach bar instead! It's a lovely pool, free to use with lots of sun loungers, and a great choice of food and drinks. We spent a LOT of time there! You can book on a variety of trips by coach or book, which is good because it gets you out and about a bit and they're very reasonably priced.

July J

DO YOU KNOW DOMUS ? If yes, do you like this pub ? Have you met Nick Angelo Philip ... barman

July J

Connaissez vous le "Domus" ? Si oui, j'aimerai en savoir plus, comment avez vous trouvé ce bar et surtout le personnel !!

Kara B

Does anyone out there have any contact details or email address for either the Silver Beach or Paradise Village (as I belive they are owned by the same people). I am trying to contact them to book a holiday for next year and the website is not accessible.

Kara B

Last July, my family and I stayed at the Silver Beach Hotel in Roda and we had the most fantastic time. The accomodation, food and staff were second to none, not just in the hotel but in the resort aswell.
My parents enjoyed it that much that they went back this July and stayed at the same place again! They were recognised by the staff which made them feel very welcome.
I am trying to organise a big family holiday in Roda for next year and my Father has told me about a place he saw this year called Paradise Village. I believe it is just round the corner from Silver Beach and owned by the same people.
If anyone out there has any contact details for them please could you let me know via email as the website for them is not accessible.

Eddie G

can anybody please tell me if the alexandros apartments in aghios gordios corfu are any good.

Tracy

I totally agree with Michelle about Sunil. What on earth does he want and why did he put his comments in a "we like it" box? What an idiot, and it wouldn;t hurt him to learn to spell either. I for one am glad he is not coming back. BY THE WAY A LOT OF PEOPLE GOT FOOD POISONING FROM MAGGIE'S LAST WEEK, REALLY GOOD ISN'T IT.

Bill B

It is not our first time in Corfu, but it is our first time staying in Roda early September. Have just read Gary's comments on the George Studios where we are staying and are slightly worried. Has anyone else been? Would appreciate your comments. E mail me wbransby@aol.com

Erica W

Absoluteley loved Roda. Got back 2 weeks ago having been with 5 friends after our A-levels. Alexandros apartments were great, Restaraunts were all lovely, with loads of choice for vegetarians and despite there not being loads of clubs, I thought the nightlife was great, The Drunken Sailor sells the BEST cocktails (Drunken Sailor special) along with DOMUS (Roda and Corfu special)and the people working at both were lovely(Esp Alex in th Drunken Sailor and Angelo and Terry in Domus). We met loads of people our age and everywhere was more than happy to stay open until we wanted to leave (Normally as the sun began to rise!) The best restaraunts were the one next to the Drunken Sailor, The Newport and the one next to Newport. Greek men are hilarious and will say anything to try it on with you- piece of advice NO in Greek is OCHI!!!!! Stayed for two weeks, went on boat trips to Parga and Erikoussa, both very good, went out EVERY night and sunbathed all day, amazing holiday, would love to go back. Aqualand also well worth a visit. Must confess we didn't spend that much time at the beach, the pool was just too nice. Everyone in Roda was so friendly and the whole holiday was great.

Emma W

Just come back from 2 weeks at the Theodoras apartments and had a brilliant time - i'd definitely recommend staying here

Vikki R

wen i went to roda may31st-june14th this year it was very sunny! i stayed at Niko's hotel opposite from the theodoras poolbar...i was round the pool alot and i certainley new how to make Roberto, theo and simon laff a lot. Roberto's brother 'alberto' and his friend 'mike' often played pool with me and i would normally sit at the bar chatting and getting given free cocktails if theo's dad wasnt there. i would stay there till about 2 in the morning. Nikos is very funny also and has sum dirty things in his little shop mind ya...vibrators the lot. i got on well with him and the women who worked there... i often went to 'the george and the dragon' picture bar and often chatted to another nikos who worked there. Rodas a very nice place a little crowded and how them big huge coaches fit round the sharp corners...i dont know!?

Sonjia M

We have been visiting Theodoras Apts for three years now and love it more every time. We dont actually stay at the complex but they still welcome us every year, Roberto and the rest of the gang are excellent. We stay over the road at Nikos's apts. Allthough there is not much to do at night time it still has a good atmosphere. Love it Love it Love it........ ps Does anyone know where there is good entertainment this year in Roda....

Carl B

FAO ROB AT BRITISH BULLDOG

Did you get your Happy Shopper Bag and KFC Box??????????

We're coming out next week and if there's a round of drinks in it I'll be packing them up!!! Also it gives me an excuse to break the pre-holiday diet and get some KFC in!

Julie F

We have just spent one week at Robertos 2 app- not brilliant but that's to be expected from booking with manos I guess.Roda itself was pleasant enough but very empty, it seemed as if there are too many bars/restaurants and not enough tourists to fill them so they are trying desperately to get custom by having quizzes, bingo,Elvis impersonators and drag queens - not what I go to Greece for but popular with some. There are some quieter bars but they are a bit too quiet(no pleasing some is there!)
Highly recommend Nikos' family restaurant great service and authentic greek food - try the prawn saganaki

June F

I have just come back as well from Blue Gardens, and agree with Susanne, the apartments, pool etc are all excellent, Andreas and Elena and staff could not be any more helpful and friendly. What I want to know is can anybody give me there e.mail address, as the one I have got for them does not seem to be excepted?and I want to re-book with them.

Suzanne H

HI, HAVE JUST COME BACK FROM RODA.THE BLUE GARDENS WE STAYED AT WERE LOVELY AND CLEAN.ITS A GREAT PEACEFUL PLACE AND POOL IS SO RELAXING.THE SPIRO APARTMENTS RIGHT NEXT DOOR AND WERE EXCELLENT PEOPLE.THE BEST PLACE TO EAT WAS DEFO MAGGIES,SHE IS SUCH A LOVELY PERSON AND HER CHEF THE BEST EVER,NOTHING TO MUCH TROUBLE.IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE THERE ON A SATURDAY NIGHT YOU MUST GO TO SEE STEVE SPIT DRAG ARTIST AT THE BRITISH BULLDOG,AND SAY HI TO ROB AND MAX FOR ME.

Natalie S

I stayed at the St Georges Studios in Roda which were pretty bassic but everything we needed. Most of our time was spent at Theo's with the fantastic pool and friendly staff (Theo, Roberto, Simon, Mike) they made it the best holiday I've had and very hard to leave.I recomend Cruseos' bar in Roda Old Town and the excellent excursions from Roda Inn. All in all it was a great holiday and I am deffinately going back next year!

Darren H

Just come back from Roda. We stayed at the Spiro Banos Apartments. 5 adults and 2 children. The apartment suited us perfectly. Fairly simple, but very clean, with a very large patio area, and an abundance of HOT water. Spiro, the owner, was very hospitable, organising the taxi's for us, etc.
Roda was the perfect resort for a family ranging from 9 months to 86 years old. The restaurants for very good, having a superb range of Greek food. My hat goes off to Nikos Family Restaurant, which is situated in the Old Roda Town, next to Roda Park. Nikos and his wife were extremely friendly, with the 2 children Yanis & Andreas helping out. Not to mention Eddie, who waited on us superbly. The Greek Lamb Exohitos (i think) was mouthwatering. If you're reading this Nikos, 1 caraffe of Retsina, and 1 of your Medium House Wine.

"Hi All

I'm in an internet cafe, just had to walk 2km+ down the road to Acharavi as the only place in Roda to have it (British Bull Dog Pub) is sh*t and I could not even get on this page.

Okay back to Roda, if you are over 60 and from anywhere past Watford, you'll love it. If you're fat, bald and have loads of shi*tty tatoos you'll fit in well too.

Now food, the only place I can actually say is just about okay is Maggies. I have to say they (the people of roda) really have not idea of what a generous portion is. While on the topic of food, check out the quite ridiculously dressed (so called) captain. It appears he has a taste in ladies sunglasses and i'm sure he's never even set foot on a boat. Sorry if i sound harsh but i really am feed up. The Roda Inn (on the corner is horrible, I really felt like killing the noisy bird they hard outside). On the topic of noise they ride up and down on their sh*tty scooters with the silencers off.

Well I have a week and a half to go and i'm really thinking of going home on friday. The only saving grace is that we'll get a car and go elsewhere on the island.

The only thing I can actually say is good about the place is the Hotel Aphrodite, they really do take pride in the area around the pool. Also the chap who owns Big Ben next door is amusing, he keeps saying "lovely jubly".

Also what amuses me is the fact that people keep comming back here year after year, they are obviously very narrow minded, there is a big world out there.

If you want a nice beach...well a better beach, go to Sidari, again full of chav scum (www.shavscum.co.uk) if you don't know what they are.

In my honest opinion goto Crete, Ag Nic, much nicer. Will not be comming back to Corfu again!! Please feel free to mail me if you need any more info.

Aha one last thing, the cocktails here are tiny! Nothing like Ag Nic.

Cheers

Sunil"

Right explain this to me, im not bald, remotely fat, im not English and i don't have loads of 'sh*tty' tattoos as you put it, and i thouroughly enjoyed myself! What's your prognosis on this??? Are you gonna come back to me with another 'commonsense interpretation' ?

"The only place you can think was good was Maggies?" did you actually take a walk down the main road and stop in any of the traditional Greek places or are you one of these narrow minded Britons that expects there to be British food in a non British place? You talk rubbish in my opinion-the food was fantastic!!!

Another point on why i think you're a typical 'i want, i want' Brit is the fact that you mention the scooters, why shouldnt people who have lived here all their lives turn on thei silencers, how many Brits do you see doing this abroad? Not that many, grow up and stop spitting your dummy!

People around you probably wished you had gone home, you sound selfish and in my humble opinion you're the narrow minded one, you say there are so many places in the world to visit, i feel your problem is that you want 'Britain with sunshine' if you want this go to Benidorm where the Brits have totally and utterly destroyed it!!!

hope you got blootered on your 'tiny' cocktails and lightened up a little bit

Michelle.

Suzanne H

HI JUNE, HOPE YOU HAVE A LOVELY WEDDING ANNIVERSARY, WE ARE ALSO GOING WITH SUNSET AND THOMAS COOK. FLYING FROM MANCHESTER.
I REALLY DONT KNOW WHAT THIS MAN SUNILS PROBLEM IS I JUST THINK HE NEEDS TO LIVE A LITTLE AND EXCEPT GREECE FOR WHAT IT IS,,A LOVELY ISLAND WITH SUCH LOVELY PEOPLE. I HAVE STAYED IN SIDARI TWICE AND HAVE MET LOTS OF NICE PEOPLE.

June F

Hi, Suzanne thanks for your reply, we are no strangers to Roda itself in fact we got married there 10years ago so we are celebrating our anniversary over there this time, we have made many friends, including the "Captain" and all the staff of the Newport, Angelo and Anna from the Alexandros, pool, the staff at the Oasis, we have always found everybody to be very friendly, and have always been made very welcome I agree with someone else who wrote previously it is the people here that make the holiday, and make you want to return, hope to meet up with you at the Blue Gardens we are with Sunset Holidays(Thos. Cooke)June.

Paul M

First timer to Roda and thought the place was really nice - friendly locals, good bars and some great restaraunts, must mention the Bootleggers restraunt here as it did outstanding local greek dishes. Stayed at the Aprodite Hotel which is over the road (literally) from the beach. Hotel was basic and the bed a bit small and hard (was a double) and the shower had a mind of its own but otherwise it served it surpose. Roda is small and has a good beach with nice warm clear water, and what surprised me was how cheap everything is - meals \ drinks \ shopping and the rest, but its not too small that we didnt need to eat \ drink in the same places everynight. The place IS geared towards the English tourist but its not over the top and tacky - their is a good balance between local and tourist amenities. We did a mini-cruise at Paelokastritsa which was special - the waters were blue and clear and the scenery breathtaking - corfu is the nicest place ive visited in this respect - as a scudadiver i also went snorkelling here and found it not to be too disinteresting with varied fish life to watch and play with, we hired the cruise from a local shop so u dont have to go with what the Rep offers - in total id say their were about 8 cruises to various locations on offer, we paid 58 euros for 2 people which is a bargain ! We also hired a quad-bike (20 euros) in Roda - u can also hire Scooters and Moterbikes as long as u have the full appropriate licence, this was fun as u get to go onto the windy roads of Corfu which at times are narrow and hazardous - not for the faint hearted. All in all a great place - i really hope Roda doesnt become an overblown tourist resourt like Ipsos or Kassiopi which we briefly passed through and I hope Corfu doesnt sell its sole to the tourist trade like Spain did all those years ago...

Ian F

Great place spoilt by the Brits who have gone over there and opened appalling bars! killing Greek food and providing a diet of football and sunday roast with gravy!!!! Excellent place but weather can be affected by the close proximity of the mountains and probably Albania. Odysseus restaurant is worth a miss had the worst meal there tinned carrot and dried peas! no excuse!!!!Worth walking along the beach to the other end of Roda great food to be had there.

Zoe M

can anyone tell me what the georges apartments are like in Roda? I have booked a holiday leaving in 3 weeks and I would like some info before I leave. what is Roda like?

Julie F

please someone tell me that roda isn't all english bars, quiz nights and karaoke. all the comments that recommend the place just rave about these elements. We're going for a week in July- will we really have to take some"chav" repellant?

Julie L

Beautiful place would deffinately reccomend a visit we had a wonderful holiday

Brian H

Just come back from Roda on Tuesday and have just booked agian with the kids to this wonderful little resort, we were in the venus appts on beach road, excellent! and we have had to book into Elizaebth appts this time which also seem fine. The captains place is an excellent place to eat for families as is Roda park even with the bird.
I cannot praise the place enough. Maggies was very nice and very english of course, but excellent.

Aine B

I need to know who I can book a trip to Erikoussa through from Roda. I have been before adn I think the guy that owns the Cheers Bar in Roda organises excursions to WErikoussa but I can't find a number to contact them on. (need to know what days the trips are on so that I can arrange car hire around it)

Fiona W

I have been to Roda on holiday about seven or eight times. My mother is an ardent fan of Roda as well and has been about twice a year in the past eleven years.

I can say that the Aphrodite Hotel is good. I have never stayed there but other memebres of my family have. It is directly opposite the beach and on the main road of the small village. The member's of staff there are friendly, especially Tacas.

I have to say that my favourite restaurant is the Roda Park, in the old village. This is now run By Kostas and his wife Voula. The food is very good (cooked by the Demetris) and the staff are very friendly. it is a good place to go for any information about Roda. They are also very fond of practical jokes and get conversations going between half the restuatant. But if you just want a quiet meal, they will leave you alone. Some of the holiday makers have been going to this restaurant for over twenty year!

Hopes this helps anybody thinking of going here on holiday.

Sunil S

Hi All,

I have just booked a holiday to Roda with my girlfriend. I am rather worried about it now. We will be staying at the Aphrodite Hotel.
We went to Agios Nikolaos in Crete last year - I really enjoyed it, a mix of nice bars and not too manic.
We want somewhere that is not full of Chavs (see www.chavscum.co.uk).
Okay here are some questions:
1. Is the Hotel any good?
2. Is it worth hiring a car? - If so how much and where from?
3. What's the weather like around the end of May begining of June?

Cheers

Sunil

Hi we are trying to book a holiday in Roda,Corfu and we want to stay in the Mettallinos Apartments
because we know the guy who runs it. We would be really grateful if someone could email us with the details of the pool and aprtments. Thanks Everyone please email on timharrison1@blueyonder.co.uk

Kevin B

Does anyone have an e-mail address or full phone or fax number for the Roda Beach Village.

Ken C

If you go to Roda this year try and take time to visit the Mettallinos pool and bar. It’s small and friendly with a good-sized pool (great for the kids). The owners are a lovely family who will make you feel more than welcome. If it’s a relaxing time you are after this is the place to be.

Lukasz Z

I`m going to spend my family vacation on Corfu in June this year. We just booked hollidays in Angela Beach hotel. I cannot find in internet any information about this hotel and its beach. This hotel is placed probably between Roda and Sidari somewhere near Karoussades but just by the sea and its own beach. Travel agency has got only three picrures of this hotel. Has somebody seen this hotel and can tell me more about it and the neighbourhood (especially beach of course)?

Leanna S

We have just booked to go to Roda this year and we can't wait! We are booked into the Blue Garden apartments (used to be Spiros 2) ut can anyone tell us anything abou them? We know they are around 500 metres fro the beach - but are they near Spiros 1 (our mates are staying in Spiros 1)!! Thanks!

Nicola D

I am thinking of booking a week in June at Spiros 1 in Roda - am concerned it may be too basic and not enough to do in the day and things to see in the resort with 2 children (Aged 1 & 4). Are there lots of tavernas/restaurants/shops to occupy us??? Thanks - a quick response would be good so I can go and book it!

Andy J

goto MAGGIES for a meal it is OUT OFF THIS WORLD

Julie J

Haven't been to Corfu for 15 years but planning to go this year in July and was wondering if anyone knows if Roda is like Kalamaki in Zante as we loved it there.

We are looking at the Hotel Afrodite, like most places we have heard good and bad. Is hot water a problem? It was in Zante until we sort of got used to it and then it seemed okay.

We heard the sun loungers aren't a problem, I don't relish getting up early just to have somewhere to lay so if anyone can let me know I'd appreciate it!!

Pauline W

stayed at ninos on the beach 6th october for one week, wonderful holiday apartments very good, have no idea what some are complaining about, no problem at all, very nice people, they do the best chicken baguettes ever. one of the best places to eat is filoxenia.
would love to go again very relaxing, we had no complaints at all, and we are used to staying in the luxor at las vegas. all you other moaners get a life.

Paul G

Roda was closing down when we left on 25th October.

Alison W

A place to go back to year after year. Stayed at Paradise Village Apartments - fab, fabulous setting, close to the resort centre. Best I've found yet but a bit pricey. Being taken over at the end of the year and prices hopefully to be reduced - check it out.

Deborah M

I have been going to Roda since I was 13 and I am now 20, so I feel I have grown up there, but there is not better place. Roda is a wonderful village, with beautiful views of the mountains and Albania just across the way. However it is the people make that make Roda so special. I have stayed in a number of different self catered apartments (including stathis, spiros and some privately owned) which are all pretty basic, but you spend such little time in them it doesn't really matter. The only hang-up I have the so-called shower cubicles, have they not heard of shower curtains?
We are regulars at Roda park reasturant and I recommend that everyone should have at least one meal there. The food is lovely and Costa and Voula plus the rest of the crew including Akhi are such lovely people, you are guarenteed a wonderful time.
I have also found another gem in Roda, a little pool with a bar called Metallinos which is just opposite Peagsus Hotel (about 10 min walk from centre). It is run by a two brothers called Costas and Adonis, who is a very good friend of mine and one of the most wonderful people I have ever met. As the bar is only small it retains the personal touch and you are sure to have a good chat with Adonis. Costas' wife Anna also works there and is an amazing cook, especially her pizza's which are becoming famous already. Adonis also drags his poor mum down to cook greek specials, such as mousakka and stuffed vegetables, which are absolutely wonderful. Please, please go there!
I find it harder each year to leave Roda and hope very soon to spend a little more time there.

Bekki T

If your thinking of going, dont hesitate, just go!!!!
been going for years and still love going!!!! telling you get your self to the drunken sailor and the alexandros pool!!!! there the best places to go!!!! and if alex, geogrge and stathis see this hello, cya soon!!! and everyone at the alexandros, cant wait to see you all again.

Rach

pat it is wonderfull.
big and clean!
a bit noisy though

Rach

forgot to say.
if you are with a lot of people try the alexanderos appartmants

Rach

The best ever.
I would reccomend it to ANYONE and i mean anyone

Jan B

Just got back from 2 weeks at the Silver Beach Hotel & Diet break! (only time I lost weight on holiday) As nearly everyone will tell you, the food is pretty appalling, but there are plenty of places to eat out and put that right. Luckily our room was 2nd floor, rear of hotel. Basic, clean enough, beds very uncomfortable, views fantastic! Owner IS creepy though.
Discovered Alexandro's Pool Bar (behind Silver Beach Hotel) with large scrupulously clean pool - I know, I watched Les clean it each day! - plenty of sunbeds, WONDERFUL team of people running the place, free quizzes and fun & games. The food is pretty good too, I had the best pizza I've ever had at Alexandro's, never quite managed to clear my plate at any meal though! Tell 'em I sent you! and beware of Anna....
Roda is a charmingly shabby resort, lots of friendly folk everywhere, nothing too high pressured. You'll hear people talk about Maggie's Place- Fantastic breakfasts, also reknowned for their fish suppers, sadly cooked in lard so I didn't try)and it is worth a visit just to have filter coffee (nearly impossible to get a decent coffee anywhere in Roda). They also serve fabulous pint of Strongbow, but be warned not cheap because imported.
We really enjoyed George's Dreamer cruises (bookings from the Hotel down at the beach, there's a sign) - in fact it's probably cheaper and very simple to book your own trips anywhere rather than through reps - compare prices at different travel shops and don't rush to book at the welcome meeting.
I could go on, but you'll want to find out stuff for yourself. I'm definitely going back one day. PS Be courteous, learn a bit of Greek even if just please and thank you, goes down very well in Corfu.

Michelle M

OMG!
This year was the first i've ever been to Corfu, but i can tell you i will definately be going back. It was amazing. The apartments we stayed in were pretty bad-but the people made up for this-they are friendly, generous and warm. Especially at the Alexandros Pool/Bar complex. They were really helpful and made our holiday the best ever. So a BIG thank you to all the lovely people in Roda-from "The Four Tramps From Glasgow"

Michelle, Konstantinos(yes he is really Greek), Suzanne & Paul.

Albert B

roda is a small holliday resort with a good location to start traveling from if you hire a car. As a resort you can see it all in 2 days but to sample all bars and food it would take you a week or more. We stayed at the Silver Beach hotel which can only be described as the most boring place on earth apart from a pool there is nothing to offer. Rooms are cramped and very uncomfortable. Brakfast is a disaster. Entertainment none existant. No one used the bar and residents were not planning for a return holl.
Couple of telephones in place to ring back home. Mosquitoe problem for those who get bitten. Advice-- Change hotel. Hire car and visit Kassiopi, sidari, paleo, agios stephanos and the dear old lady who sells dynamite wine at the top of a mountain. She must be 100 years old. We first met her on our first trip in 1994. She still has the old black shawl on. Places to avoid? The south part of the island IE Kavos. Unless all you want to do is drink party and look at naked people all day. Not worth the drive to check it out. Just drive the east - north and west coastline for breathtaking views. Check out car hire prices for best deals.

Zoë S

Just got back from our first visit to Corfu... and we loved it! Stayed
at the Coral Hotel in Roda and had the most fantastic time - mainly
due to the wonderful staff there. Yamas! to you all - but especially
to Nikos and Demetri... you were fantastic! Had no preconceptions
before going there, but usually keep ourselves to ourselves pretty
much with some sociable stuff thrown in if it happens. This holiday
was completely different - we met some really great people and partied
from day one! Hired a car and visited Kassiopi (lovely), Sidari (great
beach, but not our scene) and Paleokastritsa (beautiful but secluded)
too - but both agreed that Roda was a great base. The hotel was only a
couple of minutes walk from a sandy beach and small town centre, where
there were loads of restaurants and bars for all tastes. Best places
to eat that we found were Filoxenia (great view, good food and best
value breakfast), New Port (next door - aka Captain's because of the
guy who wears a Captain's hat) and Roda Park (pricier, but great for a
special meal). We also heard that Maggie's was worth a visit, but
didn't make it there. The Coral is a family-run hotel with a great
atmosphere - basic accommodation with good views from your balcony.
They run Greek and barbecue nights weekly, with karaoke in the bar on
other evenings. It's a lively place, but you can always escape. The
pool area has a bar and is a fun place to sunbathe and chat to new
friends. The great thing about Roda is that, if you don't like where
you are staying, you are not stuck because there are lots of pools
offering free access and you can eat/drink/walk anywhere!

Dave S

Stayed ay Roda Beach Hotel 3 years ago, everything was excellent. Didn't realise they did all-inclusive. We are going there again 15th September half-board, will upgrade if possible

Pat M

Help! Does anyone have anything positive to say about the Silver Beach Hotel in Roda? We're going there in October for a week. Thanks.

Jenny F

Roda is a lovely spot and not bad as a base from which to explore the island. We hired a car for three days and found the roads surprisingly quiet - much better value than paying to go on the organised excursions. The mountains are stunning, and beach hopping well worth while. Drop into Corfu Town too. The tourist office will hire you a car at a good price - jeeps are the best thing if you're going up into the hills as some of the roads are unsurfaced.

Stayed in the Elenitsa Appartments, which were basic but clean with a spacious and shady balcony. From other people's comments on the accommodation section of this site, I would recommend asking for a top floor appartment (as we did) to avoid problems with damp. Local restaurants were all good and excellent value for money, whilst the beach was great - why would you need a swimming pool when the sea is so warm and clear? The nightlife didn't dominate the village, but was there if you wanted it, and not dominated by too many Brits. For something different to do in the evenings, go pony trekking to explore a bit more of the coastline and hills.

The mossies weren't as bad as I'd heard in advance, but would still pack the repellent! Also, if you can, book a private taxi transfer from the airport - we were sitting around for two hours waiting for another flight to come in even before we even got started.

Sue Wright asked about the Robertos studios and apartments. We stayed in these (came back just over a week ago.) We were in the ones behind the church though there are some on the main road. We also went with Manos as you are too. The apartment was very basic but clean. Have to say the rep we had was rubbish only saw her on the first day, however this will not spoil your holiday, you really don't need a rep. The rep warned us against using the local transport for many reasons, but we did use it and thought it was brilliant - good air conditioning and more like luxury coaches than buses. Also you don't need to book any trips you wish to take with the rep as this works out much more expensive - there are many places you can buy the same trips at much better prices in Roda. The coach trip to Paleo is great value, it also takes you to a monastry, a distillary (free tasting), and the Bella Vista (breathtaking) and all for only four euros each! On the last day of our holiday my 14 year old son had a constant lump in his throat at the thought of leaving and my eleven year old had tears in his eyes too. Brilliant holiday - we arranged to go back again next year before we'd even left. However we won't be using Robertos but only because we found some apartments with air conditioning and a comfy place to sit. You'll be so busy having fun that the apartments should be fine! Enjoy...

God knows what got up Jeffs nose at Alexandros. But we have been going to the Alexandros pool now for a good few years. We have stayed at various apartments within the resort. We have also tried several other pools like Theodoros, Spiros No 1, The coral, and Pegasus to name but a few, none of them are as well kept and as clean. And as for the comment that there was too much chlorine in the pool, bollocks. Angelos is very stringent about the care of the pool and when you think of the amount of people using the pool on a daily basis along with the suncream and other lotions and potions that us holidaymakers lather ourselves with, I think that he does a bloody good job! Anna is like an extension to our family and is always very helpful and will try her best to ensure that you have a good holiday. She has also done especially well this year to keep smiling and looking after everyone while her own life has been very difficult. Good luck to Jeff when he goes elsewhere and please stay away cause we dont want you moaning and bleating on about a perfectly good place and spoiling it for others. See you lot at Alexandros next year. Lots of love

To everyone who has been to RODA corfu, i think you will agree when i say everyone is really friendly, its a great place i go each year myself and my children, and we have stayed at most appartments we go to a local pool {the ALEXANDROS} and angelo and anna who run it are fantastic and very good friends of mine, it is very child friendly and the food is great it meets with all my needs for a relaxing and fun holiday will be going again next year and cant wait see you all there!

Peter & lynne C

We are hoping to have an all-inclusive holiday at Roda beach Village, but have heard some "horror" stories about all-inclusive holidays in general.

Has anyone been here and can they put our fears to rest?
what was the hotel food/ drink like? (was it fresh throughout the day, decent drinks etc)??

Thanks

Sam G

We have just come back from our first holiday in Roda and plan to go back there next year as we loved it. We stayed in the Roda Inn on the beachfront. I wouldn't stay there again though. Lovely view and Helen and Kay the owners were lovely, but the noise from the Mopeds all night was not so lovely. The sound of the waves hitting the beach made up for the mopeds most of the time. Roxannes bar 2 doors away from the Roda Inn is run by a very nice man call Vasilis. Go there for a drink he plays some good music too. Big bens is another friendly place to go for a drink, which is run by Yianni and his wife Oula, drinks are reasonably priced. If you are loking for somewhere excellent to eat then I recommend the Roda Park for excellent greek hospitality. Costa and his wife Voula were wonderful hosts. I also recommend eating in Maggies at least once, you get absoultely huge servings good value for money and Maggie was really nice. the Metallinos pool and snack bar is run by a really nice man called Adonis. It's up past the crossroads but well worth the walk. Everybody was really friendly and they absolutely love children. We've only been back 3 days and missing Roda and all the lovely people in it. Can't wait to go back next year.

Sarah

Linda H

You're in luck with the Venus Apartments - Angela and Charlie run the place - they are Greek Americans. Apartments are clean and basically equipped like the majority of Greek apartments. The pool is great with plenty of room for kids to play in and for relaxing in too. It is set in a location about 10 minutes easy walk to the main eating and shopping areas but there is a small supermarket 2 mins walk and a snack bar with great pizzas on the site. Angela makes great cocktails too. We're going back on 28th July - arriving on 29th early morning. Come and say hello if you're still there - look out for a blond 13year old lad called Ben who spends all day jumping in and out of the pool! The best place to eat (in our opinion) is the Captains bar - that's not its name but a greek chap in a captains hat runs it - you won't miss it! If you like seafood, there is a grea place called the Dolphin - it looks very basic, nothing fancy, but it overlooks the sea and serves great seafood. Roda is a super place for families - not a lot of night life but at least it doesn't attract the louts. I'm sure you'll enjoy it - this will be our third visit.

Margaret M

we love roda, my family and i have been going back for five year now this being our 6th visit. We always stay up on the roda-sidari road and use the roda blue pool. It is ideal for children with a separate pool for the little ones. They serve food all day and quite late into the night. The drunken sailor and crusoes are the bars we used most often. We found all the greek people very friendly and helpful. We fly out on 21st july and i can't wait.

Jean P

We are going to Roda on July 14th, staying at the Makis. We have been many times and simply love it. The beach is straight facing the Makis and the Harbour bar there is very friendly. We do a lot of our sunbathing at the Kookaburra pool at the Elizabeth apts. They are great people who run the bar, very, very friendly and lots of fun. Hopefully we will bump into some of you in and around Roda. There are 8 of us. We are Keith and Jean, our daughters, Debbie and Kerry, their husbands, Brian and Gareth, and our 2 grandchildren, Daniel 8 and Paige 3......so we should be pretty easy to spot.

Lou

Message to Peter Henriksen, Yes there is a cash machine in Roda, it is just up the road from the Drunken Sailor Pub/Club, across from the TN Travel Shop.

Jim M

Hi Sarah,we are off to stay in Roda on July 18th as well.We are staying at the Alexandros appts. This is my fourth trip to Corfu and my 3rd time in Roda!Cant help you with the Venus appts, but I can tell you that Road is a nice smallish Resort, mainly yob-free,although it has a couple of football bars,if thats your thing(not ours)It has a nice relaxing, laid back feel to it by day, most restaurants are excellent quality and value for money.I believe there is one disco, many bars and places to eat, nice beach and the locals are much like typical Greeks-'Hospitable are welcoming'.If you fancy a crazy, boozy night out then Sidari is the place.Takes about 15mins by road to get there, and if you are not a drinker then a scooter is the best way to travel(about £10/day)to admire the scenery and hidden bays.Be prepared as it can get very hot this time of year, the second time I went,we got caught up in a heat wave hitting the 40's some days! Roda also boasts a nice small harbour, and many an evening was spent walking off the night's dinner, then straight off to a bar.
Hope this helps, any other queries please dont hesitate to post on here or email me.
Have a great time-Jim.

Richard B

To Lynn Hargreaves - Have you made contact with Julie Ann and Spiro? If not just email me your details richard.baker66@ntlworld.com I should be seeing them soon and I can let you have their address tel no etc.

Sarah R

Myself and my partner are due to go to Roda, Venus Apartments and Studios 18th July for 14 days. Can anyone share their experiences of this resort or the apartments?? We have never been to Corfu so this will be a new experience ... fingers crossed!!

Thanks Sarah

Janet O

We stayed at the Siler beach Hotel in Roda.29/5- 06/6. And to our surprise found it far better than any of the reviews we had read about it.Roda is fairly quiet, but i know that it was just picking up as it was heading into June.So those of you going now will find it more lively! Plenty of Karaoke, british type bars if you like that sort of thing? Unfortunately we found it a bit too much.We would recommend you hire a car and go to up to the mountains. We did that plus saw Kassiopi, and on the west coast Arillas for the sunset all in one day.Really worth the money! If you go to Corfu town, don't take the reps trip. After we booked it we found SO many other ways of getting there more cheaply..even by boat.So shop around and ask the locals who work in your hotel or wherever.
oh,if you are a weak swimmer or have children then the sea is great. It has some REALLY shallow areas. And hire a pedalo for 7 euros!

Laura M

Hi, we are going to the Elizabeth Apartments on July 7th and was just wondering if anyone else had been to them, or could tell us any good bars or places to go (im 20 but not into heavy ckubbing!!) just wondering if anyone has any ideas?

Stuart L

We are planning a trip staying in the Makis Apartments in Roda. Can anyone tell me what they are like where abouts they are in Roda, close to the beach etc.. I know we will enjoy Roda having been there last year, Thanks

Samantha G

Hi, I'm going to Roda in August with my husband and 4 year old daughter. We are going to stay at the Roda Inn, does anybody know what it's like. Is there much to do and see in Roda, or surround ing areas? Thanks Sam

Penni M

I have been to roda twice now and have won an auction to go again but I can not remember where the Fiona appartments are as it is the accommodation we have been allocated. Can anyone shed any light on this and possibly give me a couple of landmarks for me to get my bearings?

Allan B

We have holidayed in Roda many times, and enjoyed our stay immensely each time. The local people are genuinely friendly and helpful and often invite you to join in family nights out.

For Peter Henriksen

There are at least two cash machines in Roda itself, one opposite Bootleggers Restaurant (Highly recommended by the way)and one by the car hire car park.

Can anyone help us with the email address of the Compass Bar on the crossroads?

Many thanks

Wendy M

to Lynn Hargreaves - I lived in Corfu for many years until last year when we moved to France and know Julie Anne and Spiros (Rick) very well. They gave up the Crown the year before last and live mostly in Corfu town - don't have an address, sorry. Julie Ann had her second baby a couple of years ago. If you write to "Tim" c/o the Crown of Roda or Maggie and Des at Maggies Bar, Roda and tell them I gave you their names, they will forward your letter to Julie Ann for you. Good Luck
Wendy Milner

Lynne H

I am trying tolocate some friends of mine from a few years back, and I have lost my address book.
They are Julie-Anne and Spiros, last known at the Crown Pub in Roda, a couple of years back.
Very distinctive couple, a tall willowy blonde english girl, and tall handsome greek guy! Spiros used to have sunbeds and windsurfers on the beach in Roda.I think that they may have a couple of kiddies by now.
Any news please contact me.

Vikki G

Hi, I'm going to Roda for 2 weeks on 2nd June, looked up quite abit of info on various websites but can't find the apartments we are staying in anywhere! They are called 'Kaliopi', as we booked a late deal we don't have a brochure for reference! Any comments good or bad, even if you haven't stayed in them, do you know where they are situated in Roda? Is the weather ok during the first 2 weeks of June? Thanks x

Ellen D

Hi, we are going to Sidari on the 30th of this month (may) 03 and staying at Haroula apartments with Thompson, has anyone stayed there and if so what are they like? also are they near to the beach, tavernas, shops ect? any comments good or bad would be very much appreciated. ellen dee.

Karen J

Just come back after two weeks 2/5 to 16/5 and we absolutely loved it. The resort was a bit quiet over the first weekend but got busier as more and more bars and restaurants opened. One good thing, according to the locals and us, was that the Scouna Club wasn't opening this year! We stayed at the Aphrodite Hotel which is right on the front opposite the taxi rank and couldn't have wished for a better location. The resort is not huge and didn't get overly busy or noisy - although one night we did hear some lads going home in the early hours of the morning - and that was only because they were singing '...it's 3 in the morning and we're going home tomorrow'..! Most of the shops sell touristy items like baseball caps, leather belts, perfume, watches, etc. We loved it so much we're planning to go back in October or next May. We did not have a bad meal anywhere and all the locals were very friendly.

Janet O

I am going to Silver beach hotel in about two weeks.I would love to know more about the area, and if posible what the hotel, food, and beaches are like?

Peter H

are there any cash machines in the resort of roda.

Simone E

Hi we stayed at the SPIROS apartments a couple of years back, and it's gotta be said, of all the places i have been and stayed that was the best! they make you feel so welcome, VERY friendly family, if you get the chance to go....then it's highly recommended, not far from the beach, small walk from the shops.......excellent food in restuarant...brilliant greek night...good drinks...and a damn sexy waiter (if Nikos is still there) we booked through JMC. would go again one day....bye all

Deborah T

We stayed at Nino's on The Beach last September and are going back with another couple next week (can't wait) Nino and his family are very hospitable with an excellent pool and very good food. They host a Greek night each week and studio was fantastic. Two days to go nd counting before we are back at the airport. P.S we love the Greek food but for anyone who prefers English try Maggies Bar.

James B

We have been going to roda for the past 17-18yrs usually twice a year.
We absoluteley love the place,it has nice taverna,s and a few nice bars.
The thing we really love about greece as a whole is the people,we have many friends there.
In the summer we usually go there about the 3rd week of june for 2 weeks,We have friends from Wales that we usually meet there.
We know the island very well, you will struggle to find a nicer place.

Samantha S

To Cynthia Paige, I have stayed at the Helen Appartments, They are of fair size and really clean, no pool but the beach is really close. My only hate of the place was that the cleaner kept holding her hand out for a tip every day so she got bog all for her cheek. i would definatley stay there again. Go to the mistral bar ask for Costas & tell him samantha from scotland said hello! have a great time, we are going in September

Linda B

Jim M

Louisa K

Hey people, could anyone please tell me useful information about Roda, my boyfriend and I have just booked to go in september for our 2yr anniversary and I'd really like to make it special for both of us such as going to nice restaurants etc thanks

Gary N

We have been to roda for the last 3 years. we stayed at the makis appartments, the maritzsas appartments and we can honestly say we have had a great time, every time we visited there! we love the food! also we loved the harbour bar. spiros made us feel very welcome. i would recommend either appartments. we are going back on may 16, cant wait!!!!

Margaret M

meroulla apartments situated back off the main road between Roda and sidari, directly opposite Roda Blue family pool. Supermarket just down the road. Pool open from 9 am until last person goes home and serves a selection of main meals and snacks all day. Basic but clean and friendly apartments. Approx 5 minutes from main road with night life so not too noisy if you need your sleep.

Margaret M

we have been to roda for the last 5 years. we enjoy the peaceful days lazing by the Roda Blue swimming pool then walk on down into the main road at night time to eat and drink the night away, often calling back to the pool for a night cap before retiring for the night. We have always found the people of Roda very friendly and its surprising how many remembered us after our first visit. Especially around the pool.

Lynne S

We stayed at the Roda Beach Village, Corfu in May 2000 and we absolutely loved it. We stayed half board and the food was excellent -great choice. The hotel is redecorated every winter and was in pristine condition when we went. The staff can't do enough to help you. Most speak good english but the place itself still retains a lot of greek charm. Do take a torch with you if you go out into Roda itself because if you decide to walk back it is very very dark with no street lights. We used to get a taxi back to the Hotel (very cheap about £1.00 sterling so not that far. Hotel entertainment was brilliant especially for the kids. In fact I am going to book again for next year. If you do want any more information on the place then feel free to email me on Lynne6589@aol.com

Stephanie S

well i went to roda two years ago and im going again this may me and my family are staying at the ELIZABETH studios and apts for the second time and i must say is amazing i loved it, its like having your very own little paradise on earth its lovely. the people in the apts were great the owners amazing and the taxi's were great very nice cars and very polite people. theres some lovely little shops which are cool and theres some great bars to we especially like one of the bars on the sea from owned by alex the food there is soooo goood i would say this place is great for a nice relaxing holiday its a very friendly village and a very safe one tooo. if anyone is going you'll have a great time ...... see you very soon corfu xxx

Laurence G

Loz and I have been to Roda for six times. We have got to know the people and the resort. The water is reasonable depending on your constitution certainly o.k. for teeth cleaning. The locals are friendly and as long as you treat their country with the respect it deserves you will be so rewarded. The place is clean the food good and all facilities are what I would expect the only problem found is the occasional yobbo who I am ashamed to say has the same dialect as me. Laurence and Florence

Tom H

WE WENT TOO RODA LAST YR, GREAT FOR FAMILIES .BEACH CHILD FRIENDLY,GOOD NIGHTLIFE AND SOME EXCELLENT RESTAURANTS.DRUNKEN SAILOR ,MISTRAL BAR GEORGE & DRAGON FOR GOOD NIGHT OUT.DONT MISS GREEK NIGHT AT SPIROS, EXCELLENT .

Kerry A

THIS WILL BE THE 6TH YEAR I HAVE VISITED RODA SO I THINK ITS SAFE TO SAY ITS A GOOD RESORT TO GO TO. THE PEOPLE ARE VERY FRIENDLY AND I HAVE MADE MANY FRIENDS I KEEP IN CONTACT WITH ALL YEAR ROUND. THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT RESTAURANTS TO VISIT AND NOT A BAD WORD COULD BE SAID ABOUT ANY OF THEM. THE NIGHTLIFE ISN'T ROCKING BUT YOU CAN MAKE IT A GOOD NIGHT IF YOU WANT TO,THERE ARE A COUPLE OF BARS OPEN LATE (4AM) THAT ARE OK. THERE ARE A LOT OF SMALLL SHOPS IN RODA SELLING A WIDE RANGE OF THINGS BUT CORFU TOWN IS THE PLACE TO GO FOR REAL SHOPPING.

Donna C

I went to Roda and absolutely loved it. I stayed at the Roda Oasis Hotel and thought it was a great place to stay. The owners were extremely friendly and the pool was great. The main town is good because there are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. The beach was very clean and the weather was great. I'd recommend it to anyone.

George H

This will be the fifth year we have been to the Aphrodite Hotel in Roda, Spiros, Haroula and the rest of the extended family make us feel like part of them. The hotel is well situated on the beach, and its very clean, i have not found anything i could complain about.
The restaurants are mainly good, my favouries being the Newport, where Vangelos will be standing outside, captains hat on, talking to anyone.the Drosia restaurant from outside is nothing to look at, but the food is excellent, and the portions massive, i asked i local where he ate,he told me Drosia, if its good enough for them, its good enough for me

Alison W

Mary M

We have just booked a last minute deal to Roda Liva? Aliki Apartments. Anyone who can tell us anything about these apartments or the resort>

Dave H

We stayed at the Roda Oasis which is on the main road and vcan be very noisy - this was the only downside. Hotel was pleasant reasonably close to the beach and town. Food could be excellent if you shopped around - try the Dolphin on the seafront or Roda Park in old Roda for their "specials"

Bob W

5 August 2002 updated from July I holidayed in Roda last year and I'm returning again this year. It is a quiet village with no “Kavos yobs”. The pools I used were clean and well maintained. The beach was clean and the water very clear. The sand gently slopes out with no sudden drops. There were plenty of bars and restaurants. The food in general was of a good standard and cheap, about £6 each for a three course meal. The lobster salads were fantastic and the cooked breakfasts at Theodores were huge. For those that can’t do without their football, like me, pretty much all of the games that are televised can be seen in most bars. There were also a wide selection of new films repeated during the day in the same bars – ideal if the kids get bored. Beer was cheap about £1.20 for 0.5ltr bottle of Amstel and about £3 (varied) for a 1ltr carafe of wine. Soft drinks and ice cream - a bit less than UK prices (these prices I believe have risen slightly this year due to the Euro being introduced). The mosquito’s can be a nightmare, but if you shut the doors before you go out at night and take cream repellents and plug in room repellents with you, you should be ok. I was only bitten three times in two weeks and one of those was getting off the coach on the way there. The shops were fairly average and only took about an hour to tour. Leather goods were available but were quite expensive. There were a lot of fake t-shirts and alike. The self-catering accommodation (we were in Spingos) was small, very basic, but again clean and well maintained. Quick tip: make sure you always have a few bottles of mineral water in the fridge (they are very cheap) as it gets very hot at night (no air con.). Acharavi, the next town along, is 1/2 an hours walk away. This has just recently had a small water park built. But if you want bigger thrills the water park Aqualand is only an hours drive away. Its situated at the centre of Corfu island and boasts 100ft freefall slides – these are a real buzz. In Roda there is car, motorbike and cycle hire available – I would not recommend the motorbikes unless you are a competent rider as the drivers on Corfu can be a bit erratic. Overall I would say Roda is good place to go if you want to relax and take things easy for a week or two. Don’t expect too much though, as places like Roda are not up to UK standards in many areas.

Tina

I am going to Roda In corfu in October and I am going to be staying at the Roda oasis hotel. If Anybody knows what it it like please let me know i would be very grateful.

Gillian W

my partner and myself going to roda 29th july, staying at the silver beach hotel, anyone been there or know anything about it or any gossip about roda is there lots to do. Were hiring a car for three days anyone driven there.

Steve V

We found the food on the whole extremely good value and quality throughout our stay. I concur with the beer, although very palatable and good strength, it did give me `gut rot` after 2/3 days and had to get imported too. Drawbacks; Close vto the area were some other (arrogant) Europeans (no name no pack drill (clue) whom were a bit obnoxious in the way they did things , towels, barging down road , not queing etc. (nuvver clue) on the whole excellent value for money!!

Shaun W

Has anyone got any info about the Melinda Appartments please?

Bob W

Cheap food & drink, but don't expect high quality meals. Excellent beach, very safe for children and very clean. Very clear sea, gets warm after about 1pm. Locals pleasant enough. Weather fantastic (late August). Drink bottled imported beer - a bit more expensive but you know what you're getting. Drink bottled water (use this to brush your teeth!). Try not to drink too much of the local (paint stripper) wine & spirits - they will give you a wicked hangover :( The pools are safe and clean - good for children. DO go to Aqua Park - fantastic day out. DO take mozzy cream - leave this behind at your peril. DO take your own toilet paper.
