Resorts on Corfu

Have to agree with Jeff Bairds comments ,enjoyed our 10day stay but wouldn't keep returning year after year as many people do. Also found it far to British, also a lovely resort ruined by two noisey bars blasting out far to loud music. We love to try somewhere new.maybe its a  comfort feeling, of knowing  the area you are returning to  each year. But there are so many other places to visit, life is to short to keep returning to same area!  PORTOFINAS BEST TAVERNA ,LOVELY FOOD AND FRIENDLY STAFF.

Arrillas is a nice but small resort, little more than a T junction. Plenty taverners but only a few bars. Its ok but difficult to understand why people go year after year as it gets a bit like ‘ Groundhog Day’ after a week. An unusually high frequency of single sex ‘couples’. Large beer 2.5E, main course 8E, Litre house wine 8E on average. The coastal walks to San Stefanos and St Georges South take 60mins and 90 mins and are not for people with walking difficulty. Portofinos taverner has a nice ambience and good food.

Arillas is the best place ever for a Holiday. I love it so much that I have created an Arillas TV website.
Please spare time to look at the stunning scenery, the lovely beach, and the tranquility.

Hey All!!!!

Goin 2 Arillas in 2 weeks, can't wait I would love 2 go 2 Corfu Town 1 day, I realise it's an early start (bus leaves at 7.30am!). Does anyone know what time the bus gets back? Don't want to miss it!!!!

How long is the transfer from Corfu airport to Arillas? We're thinking of visiting at the end of October, will the the shops/tavernas still be open that late in the year? Any advice gratefuly received. Thanks in advance for your help.

click to enlargeWe stayed at the Nikos Apartments for one week in May 08, we were home one week - booked for September and taking friends along with us!

The apartment was very clean and well equiped, even had a kettle and an iron to go with the standard hairdyer.  We ate at the poolside  bar on most evenings, the food was fantastic!  Everyone is so friendly, Vasilis runs the complex and nothing is too much trouble, his father Nikos is responsible for the food, his family own farms, so all the fruit and veg (and olive oil) is fresh   even the cleaning lady (didn't get her name) used to give us a friendly wave every morning.
If anyone has any doubts about the Nikos Apartments - don't - most people we met had  already been there 3 or 4 times and everyone was ready to book for either September or next year.
I am counting the days until we go back - a little jewel of a place, well worth the journey!
One thing we did was the trip to Albania, if you can,do - it was a real experience.  When we go back (for 2 weeks) we will hire a car to see more of the island.

We stayed in Arillas last year.  If quiet and laid back is your thing then  you can't go wrong there.  The beach is really good with watersports and a pier with a bench at the end to sit and watch the waves go by.

We walked to San Stephanos and Afionas but did not manage to get to Agios Georgios but intend to put that right next time.

Eating out is just fantastic.  The prices are very reasonable and the welcome fantastic.

We particularly loved Portofino, Brouklis, The Horizon, Stekis, The Creperie....in fact just too many to mention..

Villa Linakis was perfect.  We were thoroughly spoilt by all the facilities available, it has spoilt us for anywhere else now.  The setting is so peacefull, our kids loved to see the goats in the olive grove next door.  I must have hundreds of photos of them, hey my kids and the fourlegged ones too.

We have just returned from Arillas. It is a lovely resort. We took our 2 teenage daughters and they enjoyed it although it was a relatively quiet resort. The restaurants were good and Ammos serves lovely food and drinks - we went there most days at some stage as everything was tasty! The beach has plenty of sunbeds and brollies but never felt crowded even though we were there end of August. Plenty of little shops which sold  most things. The bakery and mini market which are away from the main shops on the 'front' are very good. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. If you go to Kostas on the Beach be careful - the meze and fish meze the 4 adults in our party shared as a starter would have done as a main course - plenty of it and lovely!! We could hardly walk when we came out! All the restaurants we visited were good.

In 28 years of holidays abroad, Arillas is the BEST.  It is stunningly beautiful, wonderful people, beaches, bars and tavernas, food is excellent wherever you go.  I am unashamed to say I wont be going anywhere else from now on.

Hi

We stayed at Nikos apartments last august, Vasilias was the lovely owner who made our holiday super. He even bought my son a birthday present and card. The duplex we stayed in was lovely and clean, fab pool and a barbeque twice a week that has so much you can't move after. The resort is quiet, would suit people who don't like anything english i.e food, pubs.

I have never actually stayed in Arrillas, but love to visit at least once while on holiday, it really is a beautiful place.

Arillas for  anyone will feel like paradise. Once you get there after your transfer which could take up tp 3 hours the place is sublime. you will have the choice of bars, restaurants and shops at your disposal.

My advice is to hire a car and explore as there are mant beaches and town well worth a visit.

When you return to your resort you will be spoilt for choice for eating out.

Arillas,
First time last year in October, everyting we wanted and cannot wait to go back. Stayed at the kokinos apartments, brilliant. we travelled with manos, their trips were a bit of a rip off. Best places for us were.. Yannis and his family at seabreaze especially the breakfast. we managed a meal at the Mirage, the Boukris we were disapointed it was out wed anniversary. Best of all was the beach nd our decision to walk inland to Sidari, saw some beautiful sights met some really nice people. Sidari no, not our scene but the coastwalk back was super. Finished the walk with ice cold beers at the seabreaze.

If you like to get away from it all Arillas is the place to go. I lived in Arillas for the whole of summer 2004 and now I am going back to live there permanently this year. I have made alot of friends and have a greek boyfriend who I met in September 2003. So if you are planning a holiday this year to Corfu I recommend Arillas to anyone who likes good food, friendly people and traditional culture. Arillas beach is beautiful and I can recommend Arillas Bay Apartments as they are very close to the beach they have a swimming pool for adults and children and it has a fantastic beach view from the Taverna called Sea Breeze serving traditional greek food and other various cusines. All the staff at Sea Breeze are very friendly Yannis (owner)who is my very good friend, little Nikos and big Nikos (girlies your in for a treat!)and George (Yannis cousin). If you are heading to Arillas for your 2005 holiday and you would like more information about Arillas I will be more than happy to answer your questions.

When my wife and I arrived in Arillas in Aug04 with a first choice allocate on arrival deal we were shocked. We stayed at Anna which was very basic but clean enough. The only problems was the cockeral at 6am every morning!! Gradually Arillas grew on us and we had a fantastic week. It is peaceful, friendly and calm. Nighlife isnt great but the Malibu Bar with George made us feel really welcome. Food was superb especially the chinese & Mirage restaurant on the front. Beware of dark roads when you've had a few drinks late on as you can't see a thing. I would recommend Arillas for anyone wanting a quiet break away.
PS Watch out for Yiannis shop, he was very pleasant then he ripped us off first day there

Booked to go to Arillas on the internet as a last minute bargain, having never
been to Corfu before. Arillas was perfect, the most relaxing holiday I think I
have ever had! The village is charming with ample little shops and plenty of
Tavernas. Despite being the end of August, it wasn't that busy. The beach is
perfect, beautiful crystal clear water and golden sand - with plenty of places to
sit with/without sunloungers or umbrellas. The local people were friendly and
laid-back - usually recognising and greeting you if they saw you a couple of
times. There are plenty of bars open late, but if you are a 'serious clubber' or
want McDonalds/English Pubs this is definitely NOT the place for you. If you
want a holiday where you can really chill out, Arillas is heaven!!!!!

Just got back from Arillas yesterday. Had the most fantastic time. The Christos appts are the best I have ever been to. Phillip and Angelia were the perfect hosts they laid on a great party for my daughter's birthday (free of charge)and nothing was to much trouble. The location was prefect 10 mins from Arilas town and 10 mins from san stafanos,we had the best of both worlds and I will be returning next year without doubt.

Linda C

Loved it! Great quiet resort with fantastic tavernas serving delicious food. Great beach with shallow water and overlooking other smaller Greek Islands. Would definitely recommend visiting Arillas.

We have been going to Arillas for many years. Everyone is very friendly and they make you feel very welcome. We are going to be out there in August we can't wait. We always stay at Jimmy's and Spiros the "Boys" are fantastic!!! The Bar-b-Que nights are just great. The nice thing about Arillas is that the kids love it and are very safe

Tom F

Hello everybody!
Arillas is great, we love it!!! Perfect place to have a peaceful sunny rest with lovely people. Best food and company we found in Armourada, that's Greece.
Tony, the next cash point is in Sidari, not far from Arillas.
Love to vereyone who loves Arillas, special Hello to Armourada friends,
Tom and Jane

Mark E

It did not take us long to realise why everyone we spoke to was there for their second, third or more time. A peaceful resort but not lacking in places to eat and drink. Charming, friendly people, a lovely beach and fantastic scenery (a walk up into the hills is well worth it).

Sarah B

a comment to richard, Arillas is a great place for children the greeks are really friendly and love children, where abouts in Arillas are you staying? i love the rainbow bar i've know the guy's that run it for years and have seen them go off to war get married and have children the best tradition resturant is the Armourada (say hi to Leo for me if you go)where you get the best food around, the beach is clean and sandy and you can walk out quite far before it gets too deep, keep your eyes open for the little fish.
hope this helps. Sarah
