I am going to be staying in Messonghi this June for the first time, although I have been to Corfu many times before. Could anyone tell me which excursions leave from here and also if there is a travel agent/are travel agents...Where is best to book from?
Messonghi is a quite, laid back resort. The beach is uncrowded and it is the perfect spot for getting away from it all and just chilling. Silence is indeed golden (apart from the birds at 6.00am!) What stands out most is the kindness and hospitality shown by the local people to visitors. Mary (of Irish parents) in Pandora Travel has so much time for everybody and works so hard to make your holiday. Messonghi has some lovely restaurants like Minore where Harris (Harry) and his family look after you and the Village Taverna where the vine leaves are to die for. There are two little villages, one near the river - turn left at water pump and the other one further down as you go to Boukari (the real village is in behind the road and many people do not get to see it). They are working villages rather than tourist traps which makes more authentic. We have been going there now for 4 years and we haven't yet been to all the restuarants in the area (manily because our Greek friend Benitia keeps cooking for us. Can't wait to go back in August.
Messonghi has a very safe beach, gently sloping and ideal for children.
Yes Dimensions is most definatly still there and continues to be run by Spiro and Anita. They were featured in the Daily Mirror's item "The Real Shirley Valentines" last July.
we are going to messonghi beach next june. as there will be 3 young children aged 7 to 10 we wanted to know if the beach and sea is safe for the children . ie. is it shallow and is there any sea type wildlife they have to look out for.
We loved it here. Only spent a couple of days this time but we are planning to go back next year. The locals are really friendly, the beach has clear shallow water, ideal for kids. The restaurants serve lovely food and the shops stay open till 11.30pm. Plently to do if you are a family or a couple seeking a nice relaxing holiday.
what will the temperature's be in october?
Is there plenty for two teenager's to do, or is there activities outside the complex?
what is messonghi beach hotel like?
How long does it take to reach the hotel from the airport?
We have been going to Messonghi since 1991 and have made many friends there among the locals. We deviated once, in 2001 we went to Crete for a change but it only convinced us that Corfu, particularly Messonghi was the place for us. You won't get wild nightlife there, and it is definitely not for singles looking for a good time, but if you want charm, and a few late beers, then this is the place for you.
