Went to Agios Gordios as a family with three kids of 10, 12 and 14 and we stayed at the Dina Apartments. They were basic but spotlessly clean and fine for a two week break. The place itself is a small bay with only one real street leading down to the beach. It is lined with several shops and there are lots of restaurants here and along the beach. Nightlife is mainly eating out and a bit of shopping. Therefore it is a good place for couples and families with younger kids. Not much to do for older teens and young adults. For eating out, we found Lithos the best value and good sized portions. Delphi is also good, as is the Chinese.
we got back last week. i have been to greece many times, and there are better resorts. but this was probably the best beach i've been on, although there are a couple further up the west coast too. we had a brilliant night life, with many late drinks at mad mikes, who apart from being slightly loopy (including eleas), are extremely friendly. apartment was a bit basic, but eh! it's greece! blue sea was best food we had, and after trying a couple of others (do not eat stuffed squid!!), we used them. do go to a greek night, if only to make an a**e of yourself. it will be a shame when st george gets too busy (please not like kavos, or mallia on crete), but we will definitely be back there next year. damn, that's a long time away!!!
We love it! Have just returned from here - our third year running! How come no-one has mentioned the fantastic Sea Breeze taverna - one of the best on the island. Good taverna menu and local wine. Good prices. Fantastic BBQ, cooked in the special outdoor kitchen on Saturday evenings (best to book, it gets very popular). Greek folklore evenings (usually Wednesday, but subject to change- so ask, also need to book, so they know how many Kleftiko's to make). Run by two great brothers Vasilli and Yianis ( and their families) and helped by their lovely cousin Thomas. Right on the beach (walk along the new wooden boardwalk) with a lovely pool area. You must try it! Lots of Greek people come here- a good sign.
DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE WALKING DIFFICULTIES OR ARE WHEELCHAIR BOUND!! (Unless you get an apartment right down at the front amongst the shops or on the beach) Very hilly.
Having said that it is one of the best looking resorts on Corfu, with its own thunderbird island 100yds out from the shore! Beautiful. Can recommend Lindas, lovely taverna with an equally lovely english waitress, by coincedence, called Linda!! Couple of nice late night bars, also. The sea can be a bit choppy, an old man died in the water while we were there... We went in 2002, popped back to see linda in 2003, and shall pop back in 2004! We stayed at Mazis above a shop run by the charming Spiros and his daughter, exceptional apartments, with views of the sea and bay, but one hell of a hill!
its our favorite place for the last three years and we will go back this summer.
A lovely place to stay with a lovely bay and beach, with a backdrop of wonderful mountain scenery. Watch out for the plank walkway at the back of the beach though - kinda dodgy with holes, loose timber and nails sticking out! Local restaurant and shop people very friendly - we'd like to return!
How suitable is this resort for people with walking difficulties?
Can anyone recommend an accomodation that is suitable for some one using a wheelchair. Thankyou.
best holiday ever. quiet if you want it nightlife if you do,no long walks to beaches and shops beach beautiful and please visit the lemon tree bar the food service and atmosphere is amazing... meet robin and brit and tell them jojo says hi
The resort was idillyc, the beach was beautifully clean sand and crystal clear water. If you wanted to stay the day on beach there are many tavernas to pop into have your dinner and get back to sunbathing. I would recommend this resort to anyone who is after a relaxing holiday with good food and great people
