weve been to roda 9 times in the last 10 years and have stayed at the Venus apartments 4 times, the accomodation is great, clean, and tidy. Charlie the owner of the bar and his family are very friendly and his food is amazing.... the pool is great as is the location situated 150metres from the sea front and right between Roda and Acharavi.

The apartments are very nice (if you are staying as a 4) you will have a up and down stairs..... well worth a visit..............

My partner and I have returned from venus for the second year running, this time we went for 2 weeks. it was great, i cant fault the place, it was quiet and relaxing even though we took family and children with us.charlie was accomodating and the food was wonderful , try charlie's special pizza. If you visit roda I advise any one to pop into crusoe's bar. you will find alex and sarah very friendly.

we have just come back from a 2 week holiday at the venus apartments. it was our first holiday abroad as a family, we really enjoyed our stay, it was quiet, relaxing & clean. we found all the staff very friendly and kind especially alberto & flori. The ice creams are very nice, demitri found it very amusing how many chocolate ice creams my daughter had in one day and they were large ones! we would definately reccomend these apartments to anyone as they cater for everyone.

The Venus Studio’s and apartments were really great! Let me set the scene: A beautiful, big, clean pool surrounded by small bungalows, in well-kept gardens, set in front of a mountain back drop. We arrived for two weeks on the 4th of September and had a lovely holiday.

The weather was hot and sunny, and it often reached in excess of 30 degrees each day. There was never a fight for a sun bed, and when we decided to sleep in, we still got our favourite spot around the pool.

Charlie and Florrie who run the apartments are great and very friendly, the apartments themselves are basic, but clean – and have the rarest of things in Greece, a fully functioning shower curtain!

This is a place for couples and families that want to get away from it all, and relax. There are some great Taverna’s in the area, I’d recommend The New Port or the Enigma – a must if you’re staying in Roda. Also call in at the Coral Hotels bar for a drink, we met some great friends in there and the bar staff are fab – watch out for Nikos though, as he seems to have a thing for other people’s girlfriends!

If you’re into clubbing, then I wouldn’t recommend Roda, as you’ll find it two quite – but if you want to kick back, relax by the pool, eat and drink well, then this is a resort for you.

Just finally – DON’T book your trips through the rep. Go to NSK Travel on the main road. We did the horse-riding trip, the BBQ on Paradise Beach and Corfu Town by Boat; all were well worth the small amount of money we paid for them!

Have a fab holiday!

Just returned from 2 weeks at the Venus apartments. After reading some of the comments posted on various websites about these apartments we were a little wary about what we would find. However, it turned out that the apartments were in an excellent location, close to an unspoilt stretch of beach (albeit pebbly), with a lovely garden area and large uncrowded pool. Our duplex apartment was ample for 2 adults and 2 teenagers and whilst not serviced every day was clean and comfortable (except for the mossies!). Charlie cooked a mean breakfast and was always willing to help. Florrie kept us amused the whole 2 weeks and is a genuianly nice person. Just find the time to talk to him and see what we mean. We would recommned these apartments to anyone, expecially familes and those wanting a relaxing holiday.

I thoroughly agree with the previous comments - the venus apartments are perfect for an outgoing family who just want a relaxing time in the sun, with great staff - including florri , i thought it was a rather good apartment , with all you need, some improvements could be made, but overall i would reccomend this to anyone, as it is one of the best holidays i have ever been on! and as soon as i met florri i knew he was nothing to forget !

Nancy V

Likewise in agreement with last post 'ignore Ken's comments on the place, & in particular regarding the lovely & genuine 'Flori'. Whom we have been in regular contact with since May 2004.

We have never done the 'going back thing', but given that Roda is so beautiful, the locals are so laid back & you are made so welcome - that we are returning end of August 2004.

Ok, the apartments aren't the Ritz, but if you want that kind of falseness - go somewhere else.

We are a busy hard working young family looking for a relaxing & welcoming break from the stresses of life. If you can't get that here, you need a reality check!

We spent the last week of May here, & intend to return August, because the place is so tranquil & unaffected by major tourism.

Can't begin to say how hospitable Charlie, Demitri & Flori were with their generosity & kindness (if I did, they would probably be out of business!). Never judge a book by it's cover - you never know who people are unless you really get to know them.

Just for the record - we have invited Flori to stay with our family -if he ever gets a Visa! By the way, we are UK Police Officers - he finds that hillarious incase he dosn't have the correct paperwork!

The Venus Apartments & staff are highly recommended - hands down!

this was the best place i have ever been on holiday and i would recomend it to anybody. when i had to leave we all cried.this flori character you are all talking about is the nicest person i have ever met!! charlie and demitri were great! flori made my stay perfect and we still keep in touch. ignore "ken" who is making things up about him.

We have justed returned from a two week break and found the venus apartments very relaxing, accomadation was basic but ok, surroundings were fantastic and charlie and florrie and the other bloke! were always very cheerful, we were a bit dissapointed about the beaches but hired a car and explored the island, very worth while - a 3 day hire car from DROMEAS - 79 euros!!! bargin. Take a trip to Aqualand near corfu town (Agios Loannis)fantastic fun!! and don't forget the MISTRAL bar very cheesy but the staff are very friendly including Costa the owner.

Ken H

Have just returned from a fortnight at the Venus Apartments and were not very impressed. We chose here because it looked like it was good for families with young children, which it is if you look at the pool facilities but when we got there we found them to be very inflexible in most other respects. They don't do childrens meals and when we asked if they could split an adults meal they refused. The food is much more expensive than the main restuarants in Roda town, although the quality is fine. We were told off for moving sunbeds to be outside our apartments whilst our young children had an afternoon sleep and also told off for bringing them out crips and water whilst they were playing in the pool. The manner in which we were told was quite rude. The apartments were filthy, mouldy and generally very dissapointing and even by greek standards the bathroom was tiny and stunk. This Charlie bloke seems like a nice chap but he's got a young lad working for him (Florrie?), that when he is not telling people off likes to hang around any English girl above the age of twelve. We were told he was cheering for Greece's opponents during the football - that should tell you all you need to know about his character. Would we go back? No never, although Roda was fine and would consider going back.

Just a quick note on the food side of things, tried a fair number of places with there not being much difference between them all. We found towards the end of the holiday we were more than likely to end up in Nikkos Family, but as I said there is not much to choose between them all.

We have been here twice before, August 2002 and May 2003.
Apartments are spaced an equal distance between Roda and Acharavi, on the beach. Nice quiet location, approx 10 minute leisurely stroll to either town where there is an abundance of restaraunts and bars.
The accomodation is either studio's or two bed apartments (which are studios with an extra mezzanine floor above (no privacy if you sleep up here as no door or front wall)
The rooms are all clean and the maid seems to visit most days. The bathrooms are very small and the elecs a bit dodgy in some rooms.
The pool is fantastic, huge and clean, and with so few rooms it never gets busy, always plenty of loungers available. The gardens are pretty and spacious, plenty of room for the kids to kick a ball around, even a couple of swings for the younger ones.
The bar and food seem good, and Charlie and angel (the hosts) are always smiling. On our first visit they told me they are always full up as people return year after year, of course i thought 'yeah ive heard that before' but to my suprise they were right, in fact ive never been anywhere twice let alone three times, there is just soemthing special about this place, just give it time it will grow on you.
If you want a nice relaxing venue just on the edge of the action then this is for you, if you want noisey music and late night drinking then you would be best advised to seek alternate accomodation. These apartments seem best suited to families with young kids or couples wanting a relaxing stress free holiday.
If you happen to be visitng during the last two weeks of July 2004, then please say high to us, im often found asleep around the pool during the day.

Cheers

we spent the first week of september at the venus the apartment was great and so was the pool! Charlie and angel are very welcoming although the bar was very over priced and "dark" the food was nice but again over priced but by taking a five minute walk into roda there was lot`s of bar`s and restaurant`s to choose from. The coral hotel greek night is a must the 4 course meal is excellant and the plate smashing is great fun! We`ll definatly be going back

John D

Stayed there first week in August 2002, a last minute allocate on arrival (resort specified) holiday. The apartments are on the outskirts of Roda, but this has the advantage of allowing you to visit the neighbouring resort of Acharavi, a 10 - 15 minute walk away. Angela and Charlie will make you very welcome, try it, you will enjoy it!

Adrian P

going back to roda (venus) on the 11/10/02 for the second time this year. Charlie and his daughter Angela make you feel really welcome. lovely pool, good food , clean accom.
