We were a little apprehensive, after having read some of these reviews, but were very happy to have chosen the Sailors apartments. The room was perfectly clean when we arrived, maybe a bit too little crockery (we ate breakfast cereal out of saucepans and frying pans), and could have done with a living area, but for the party animal, or anyone who isn't going to be a hermit and stay inside all the time, it works a treat.
tek sum mosquito s**t away wiv yous cos there everywhere, sum of me mates didnt get bit much but i did, when we arrived we werent that delighted bout the apartments but throughout the holiday they were okay cos we just wanted a place to eat, sleep and s**t. hellish location like, right near the beech and wen we wanted to gan to bed we didnt have to walk far so that was good! if your a person who hates gettin up early, then u wil be angry cos the maids c*m every bloody mornin bangin on the bloody door! it all depends on wot holiday ur lookin for, if ur young then yeah there okay but if ur old divin bother gannin. theres safes to put ur stuff in at reception, the reps are dead canny, maids are pain in a**e, canny sucure like, we didnt have nee roberies, and what ever you do divent p**s the bed cos they charged me mates 100 euros for a new mattress, but if your lookin for a party time in kavos then yeah divin worry bout the apartments cos youll not get to bed early mind and tek mosquito spray and stuff!
I NEED TO KNOW, IF THEY ARE CLEAN, BAD WITH BUGS, AND HOW CENTRAL THEY ARE FOR THE CLUBS. AND ALSO ARE THEY VERY NOISY AT NIGHT.
ANY INFO WOULD BE HELPFULL AS IM GOING THERE WITH 2 FRIENDS ON THE 08/09/03 FOR 2 WEEKS.
MUCH APPRECIATED
This was a late booking for October half-term week. I had not checked the Web for info on either Kavos or Sailors before booking and panicked when I later saw some of the remarks here, and elsewhere on the Web. What kind of hell was I leading my family into? I imagined the worst ... Kavos would be smelly and noisy and the apartment would be awful. I tried to cancel or change resort but JMC refused. The best advise my travel agent could offer was to go as planned and that perhaps it would not be that bad as it was late in the season; it would most likely be alright she said trying to reassure. My wife and I resigned ourselves to going, but with a backup plan - if it was truly awful, we would hire a car and go in search of another apartment in another resort. Well, surprisingly, the travel agent was right. The apartment was great value - right on the beach with a quiet terrace bar. Two spacious bedrooms, each with own WC and shower. The bedrooms shared a large sunny balcony with a sea view. There was a smaller balcony off the kitchen/dining area with a view to town. Maid service daily and very clean. Yes, we were right on the middle of town but Sailors is about 50m off the main road. We loved it. As for Kavos? The perfect place for young guns to party in summer. Wall-to-wall night clubs and bars. But this was the last week of the season. All the night clubs and most of the bars had shut up shop at the end of September leaving just enough pubs and restaurants open to entertain the last of the tourists (the young guns had long since departed). If you accept Kavos for what it is, it's fine. My kids (12 and 14) loved the bars showing the latest movies - there are several which also show Premiership football, Eastenders and episodes of Friends and Only Fools and Horses. The movies might be fairly bad pirate copies of current cinema releases but most were actual DVD releases and OK. However, there is no such thing as a watershed. Red Dragon was showing at one pub at 7:30pm. There were some really good restaurants still open and we were very satisfied with the choice and value. Favourites were The Village Taverna with its dancing waiters, and Penny's which had really great food. Mostly the attractions had closed. However, we could still do go-carting on the outskirts of town. We'd asked a JMC rep about watersports and she said that everywere had closed for the season. However, we found parasailing, jetski's etc still available at an apartment complex only about a mile south of town. Cruises to mainland from the Kavos jetty were still available until the very last day. And ofcourse, car, jeep and scooter hire was still available. The JMC reps had warned against hiring scooters - 'Death on Wheels' - with tales of badly maintained bikes and -s: renters taking passports as security and not returning them until an a large fine had been extorted for alleged damage. Probably good advice. Kavos, for most of the season would be hell for families with kids and I could imagine that you would not get much peace at Sailors, especially. But at the end of the season, it was fine. Ask the owner, Marjorie, about the animal sanctuary she runs and please make a donation. We didn't like: Bad weather over recent weeks had ruined the beaches. Miles of drying seaweed obscuring the shoreline. Mosquitos We liked: The first day was quite cool and overcast but the weather improved quickly after that. Blue skies and very warm. Quiet without being .
These apartment were situated in the worse possible place right in the middle of the strip, so it felt as though you wre having a party in your bedroom. They were right on the sea front so some good news there. No pool but very clean appartments. Would not go again as the Kavos is dirty and stinks.
