Restaurants in Sidari

Michala P  (29 September 2007)        10/10

my husband and i stayed in sidari in august 2007 and we ate at cactus jacks a number of times during our two week holiday. we couldnt find fault with a thing. the staff we allways very friendly and helpful especially the lady who worked at breakfast time. the food was of a high standard and plentiful. it didnt matter how busy it was you  were allways made to feel welcome. have booked to go to sidari again next year and will definatley be going to cactus jacks

Lisa G  (26 September 2007)        9/10

Just got back from Sidari, had lunch twice at Cactus Jacks, it was excellent. Good varied menu, huge portions and my boyfriend loved being able to order a selection of starters. Would recommend it!

Neil K  (22 September 2007)        10/10

Nice place to eat in. Remember not to have starters because your meals are extremely big. lovely place 2 years in a row now it just gets better.

B P (09 September 2007)

Hi George & Dee, thanks for the reply.

Swordfish Margarita, Buttered Shrimps, French Quater Mussels, Shrimp Fajitas,

are not suitable for Vegetarians, as they are not vegetarian.  As for the meals I highlighted ie: Souvlaki, Stifado, Moussaka and Lamb Kleftico" these are the meals my husband likes. I will try anything that does not include meat or fish, would it be possible for you to adapt some of your meals accordingly to suit vegetarians. If so we shall be in to see you next year.

Bondi your vocal guitarist, will he be their next year ?, and where can you buy one of his CDs, we heard his music in some of the bars in sidari.

Hello to all our customers

I would just like to add a comment replying to B PLANK saying that we do have more to offer than just a couple of veggie options. Here is a list of what we have to offer this year for vegitarians

On the starters we have for vegitarians the following

Skins to the brim
Hot Poppers
Golden Rings
Cajun Mushrooms
Garlic Chimichangas
Cheese Quesadilla
Nachos 'N' Dips

On the main menu for vegitarians we offer the following

CJ'S Nachos Feast
Classic Ceasar Salad
Spinach & Feta Chimichanga
Bean Burrito
Cactus Chimichanga
Mushroom Quesadilla
Mushroom Fajitas

We also have

Swordfish Margarita
Buttered Shrimps
French Quater Mussels
Shrimp Fajitas

We are well known for the size of our portions and indeed our Grill Menu.
Offering Full Rib Racks, Steaks Gallore, Gammon, Lamb Chops, Grilled chicken to many other combo dishes.
I noticed that B PLANK who posted the last message comments on other places where they enjoyed meals, said how good the food was, which included " Souvlaki, Stifado, Moussaka and Lamb Kleftico" which are all meat dishes not vegitarian at all.Whoops!!

But thanks for the comment on our entertainment. Bondi who is our vocal guitarist is a talent on his own.
Best wishes to all and hope you enjoy your holidays

George & Dee x

(George Gikas can you remember writing this)   We appreciate web sites like these and the comments added by customers are invaluable feed-back, of which we always take note, so please continue to let us know what you think your comment here...

This restaurant is a Vegetarian free zone, as they do not or will not cater for vegetarians. We have looked at the menu year after year and they simply will not cater for veggies other than "breaded mushrooms or & jacket skins" , please give us more options than this.

My husband wants to try some of the items on the menu that everyone else is raving about. We would like to be customers.

On another note, what a great artist you had singing this year!

Siobhan A  (28 August 2007)        9/10

Me & my boyfriend went to Cactus Jacks twice as it was so good!First time i had a steak with a jack daniels glaze which was good and second time I had a burger (which was homemade) with BBQ sauce. The fries are the best here and the portions are huge, be warned - if anyone fancies a mixed grill here they are massive, we saw someone get one and it seemed to take them forever to eat it!

Billy B  (04 August 2007)        10/10

Good Food Nice staff 10/10 say no more hi to george and sarah

Sarah W  (09 July 2007)        10/10

Arrived back from a two week stay in Sidari, this lunchtime!  What a place!!

Just want to recommend Cactus Jacks as a great place to eat!  The variation in the dishes is great and the meal sizes are enormous!  Dee and her staff are all very welcoming and will bend over backwards to accommodate their customers!

The singer "Bondi" is great - he has just the right combination of songs to accompany a meal, and later livens up when you are ready to sit in the bar and have a drink.

The breakfasts are as wonderful as the evening meals - there is even good old Weetabix and Cornflakes for those too hungover to manage a lovely fry up, or even those missing their home grown cereals!!

This restaurant caters for all age groups, and palates!  If you are in Sidari it is a must to visit!

Thanks for feeding us up so well!

Suzie S  (05 June 2007)        10/10

Just been on holiday for a couple of weeks where we ate at Cactus Jacks most days. Lovely breakfast - full english - yum yum! Generous size portions, very tasty, freshly cooked to a very high standard. V. friendly staff. Would recommend Steak with peppercorn sauce and rib racks. All delicious!
Also great entertainment with BONDI who played the guitar for a few nights each week and is fabulous!
Will most definitely go back if we visit the area again. Keep up the good work!

Think Brian must have been somewhere else!!!!!!
p.s. if anyone is after greek food, the family bar round the corner was the best for stiffado!

Food excelent - price excelent - cleanliness and friendliness excelent - restrooms (toilets) spotless

Hi guys! just getting nostalgic over honeymoon memories and looking for things on the lovely island of Corfu where we spent 2 weeks, I found this page and logged in. Neither me or my new hubby can believe what this guy Brian says - its all lies! Brian honey - get a life - you must be a real wacko to say those things about Cactus Jacks! We traveled the whole island and Cactus Jacks has to be by far the best quality restaurant on the island. Best quality not only in fresh homemade food but value for money, clenliness and friendliness of the staff also. We come from Phoenix, Arizona although we now live in Spain, and us Americans are used to big meals and know our BBQ ribs - well Cactus Jacks are just like at home! Huge portions, very tasty indeed! The only setback for those who are in a hurry is that at Cactus you have to wait a little while for your food to be served ( why the hurry if youre on holiday?), but its well worth the wait as its so obvious that each plate is freshly cooked the moment you order. If youre in a hurry and dont care about the taste dont go to Cactus - go to Memories. We ate there once and although the staff were friendly and quick service the food was tasteless and tasted well - frozen...! Also the restroom ( toilets as you Europeans say) was dirty - in Cactus Jacks they were spotless. So nothing out of date there Brian - maybe you got mixed up with somewhere else honey. George and Dee were fantastic and so friendly and natural, not like some places where the friendliness is forced - we felt completely at home and would definatly recomend anyone to go to Cactus Jacks for a slap up English  breckfast with real back bacon, fresh sausages ect of BBQ ribs which are our favorite.  Wonderful!!!

Mark J (04 June 2007)

Just back from Corfu which we visit yearly and stayed in Sidari. Went to Cactus Jack's for a meal on the second night, really fantastic. Good choice, Super size portions freshly cooked, the service was great with a friendly welcome.  The place is always clean, (and so is the loo) and the air conditioning works. Over our two week stay we must have eaten there every other day, and it way always great, kids loved it. Entertainment good but not in your face. Recommed the place to anyone & say hi to Dee.

Brian   (30 May 2007)        1/10

Just back from a weeks holiday in Sadari and this was the worst place we ate in
Decided to go in for breakfast as it was just over the road from our apartments, big mistake, my son ordered a Fanta with his breakfast, it was cloudy with bits floating in itwhen I looked at the label it was 3 months out of date, he had to settle for lemonade as all the Fanta was the same. When my breakfast came I decided to have some HP sauce with it, but on closer inspection at the bottle I noticed it was a YEAR out of date as were all the bottles on every table. We never touched our breakfast and just paid up and left.

Jamie M  (06 December 2006)

click to enlargeWell, it was a cool early Nov evening and had to use the toilet after visiting CANAL D'AMOUR.  CACTUS JACKS was open and went in to 'use' the facilities. George welcomed us in with open arms and ready to cook. Dee was in shortly after and was ready to take care of us hungry Americans.  I ordered the BBQ Ribs, and being from Texas, I KNOW MY BBQ. It was great. To sum up the entire meal, great and BOTH George & Dee were great.

Emma D  (09 October 2006)

cactus jacks was fab we loves it been there 2 years running now staff are friendly kind and will do anything for you if your not sure of what food  you may like just ask them they will help you out any time trez was out personal waitress and was fab thank you so much for you recomendations! and also a big hello to dee and george you where both fab and thansk for the drinks the kitchen staff are just as great they do came and say hello and make sure all is ok with the meals which is a great bonus thansk guys see you all next year ! love emma and ryan!

Aaron A  (17 September 2006)

The food was good, and made for a nice change from the traditional greek cuisine we love. The service was half hearted and seeing the waitress taking of her shoes and throwing it across the room before serving our meal wasn't appetising!!

Sharon E  (05 September 2006)

I didn't eat in Cactus Jacks but thoroughly enjoyed calling in for a drink, service was excellent and friendly, comfortable surroundings, OK entertainment.

B P  (02 September 2006)

Well we did look in on cactus jacks again this year & the choice for vegetarians is  still very poor, most of the other restaurants give you far more options than c/js.

There were 12 in our party this year of which 4 where vegetarians, please try & cater for us veggies as well, “ stuffed mushrooms, & jacket skins” pathetic.
Revise your menu & give us a chance to try the huge portions everybody else has experienced.
Four years of trying to eat here , still no luck!!!!!!

Angie W  (31 August 2006)

Loved Cactus Jacks.  Had a couple of meals there and had a great service from Laura.  Hopefully we will chat soon.

Thoroughly recommended.

Neil K  (26 August 2006)

The food here at Cactus Jacks is so nice. I had a english breakfast and that was about the best breakfast ever i have had. Peeps always have something to eat in Cactus Jacks because the food is fabSmile. Prices are respectable

Donna T  (19 June 2006)

Well what can I say about Cactus Jacks apart from - DAMN ITS GOOD!!!

We ate there about 4 times in our 2 week stay and every meal is as fantastic as the last.  We tried something different every time and our recommendations are cajun breaded mushrooms and sesame grilled chicken for starters and for main, well, the rack of ribs are just fantastic, the steak and ribs combo is also fab and when we ordered the Jack Daniels T-Bone I thought I would die when I saw the size of it!! But I have to say starve yourself for the day cos as other people have said, the portions are HUGE!

ENJOY!!!!!

Ann F  (20 September 2005)

 I can recommend Cactus Jacks.

We ate here a couple of times and the portions are for  BIG eaters.

We had a combi meal between us for two and when it came out I gasped at the size of it.
There were Onion Rings , Sweetcorn for two, Salad(lots of), Bar b Q Chicken and Ribs(also Lots of), Colslaw and Garlic Bread.
With drinks it came to about £14 which I thought was very reasonable.
Another time we had a steak each( large again )
You must try the cheesy/ onion mash( delish)

See you again definately

By far the best place to eat in the resort. The service was exellent, the portions were HUGE!!!!!! and was very reasonable in price.

I weould recommend Cactus Jacks to anyone

Tom M  (30 July 2005)

Fantastic, sometimes service is a little slow due to the number of punters but definately worth the wait a must visit!

Emma D  (21 July 2005)

Food was great, huge portions. Friendly helpful staff. We loved it.

Gemma D  (17 July 2005)

Dont know about evening meals but if they are as good as breakfast id definately recommend it!!! Good value for money and very tasty!!! just come back but bk in month or 2 im sure u wont disappoint me!!!!!!

Gary E  (01 July 2005)

By a million miles this was the best meal we had all holiday i had the rack of ribs and my wife had steak and cajun well her face when it turned up If you go about 10ish it's less busy and they show films at 11, We sat thou 3 hours of max and paddy, Fantastic place i can't say enough about it, Thank You!!!!!!!

Viki S  (22 June 2005)

We loved Cactus Jacks the portions are huge so beware!

The sesame Chicken starter were just yummy! My hubby had the t bone steak and it was like a doorstep! Althoug the prices are higher than average - you get loads and its perfect so well worth a couple of extra euros! In total there were 8 of us and we went a couple of times and  everyone enjoyed their meal. The staff are great too, really friendly

David V  (17 May 2005)

Add your comments l have traveled many places and can say the rack of ribs was the best meal I have  had in a longtime home or abroad fantastic service excellent staff if you are going to Sidari do not miss this restaurant

George G  (05 April 2005)

It's nearly time to start another season here at Cactus Jack's Tex-Mex Bar & Grill. It's our forth year at this location and sixth year
running Tex-Mex here in Sidari. I'd like to thank all of our customers for their continued support over the years, especially those of you who come year after year to visit us again - we must be doing something right! We appreciate web sites like these and the comments added by customers are invaluable feed-back, of which we always take note, so please continue to let us know what you think

Lol O (22 January 2005)

Hi, has there are two vegetarians in our party we have not been able to try this place because the choice for vegetarians is not very good. We will look again this year hoping they will offer more choice for our party.

Mike   (02 December 2004)

nothing new 2 say . just the best . keep on working guys .summer 2005 we will be there .we love sidari

Rep   (26 November 2004)

can i just say that after working in the resort of sidari for 2 years now as a holiday rep cactus jacks is one of the only restaurants that i tell my customers to go to. i know that at this restaurant they will leave not only satisfied but full and happy. although the meals here may cost a little more than in other eateries around reosrt i feel that this is justified by the service of the staff and more importantly the size of the portions. nobody that i have ever met has come away from this restaurant unhappy. i found that this was one of the only restaurants that i visited often, and surely that must mean something as i have lived there for 2 years now??!! i recomend that anybody visiting sidari or the villages nearby visit this restaurant as i know that i will be next year when i'm back. hats off to all the staff who work there!!!

Lin O  (10 November 2004)

Went back to cactus jacks when we visited sidari in October, took 2 friends with us, they could not believe the size of the meals, they also agree that the food is of very high standard. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will be back next June for our yearly fix.Keepup the good work.

Charlie B  (23 October 2004)

This place is absolutely fantastic. The food is fab, and such big portions for little money. We ate there twice in our weeks stay, and both times it was superb. I recommend the Chiili bureto, and I know my husband will recommend the BBQ Platter Como.....not for the faint hearted

Johnston N  (02 October 2004)

We went on the recommendations from this site and it proves that you do not have to be a guinea pig on holiday as all the comments are true. The portions are large. The fajitas, chilli, mixed bbq platter and nachos are all delicious. And to add something new it is also a nice change to get food that is hot and not just luke warm as often found in the traditional Greek restaurants. TIP: Try the nachos and a pint whilst watching a film at lunch time and avoid the midday burn. Very refreshing.

Christian C  (23 September 2004)

Was a great meal , service great and thanks for putting baloons around our table to celebrate my girlfreinds birthday and our engagement on friday 17/09/2004

Kara   (11 September 2004)

DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE..IF U LIKE UR RIBS COOKED, AND FLAVOUR WITH YOUR FOOD....DONT GO. BIG PORTIONS THO

Lauren M  (27 August 2004)

my mum and stepdad loved it here but i wasn't keen as i don't like mexican food or burgers and unlike everywhere else there was no other choices. had to wait longer than normal for our food

Gill H  (04 August 2004)

This was the best meal we had in Sidari. The Borderline Rib-Eye steak was superb. The John Smiths Smooth was a nice change from gassy Greek lager!

Lisa M  (25 July 2004)

Had to pay this restaurant a visit after reading such wonderful reviews and it certainly lived up to expectations. By far the nicest mexican food I've tasted and such ample portions. How the hell my son demolished his rack of ribs, I don't know!! The rib-eye steak was excellent as were the loaded potato skins for starters. I'm a huge eater and it was a struggle to finish. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Angela D  (19 July 2004)

this place was amazing! we eat here 7times on a 2week holiday, by far the best restruant we cameacross in sidari!

Gary G  (06 July 2004)

Brilliant! Get the Rack of Ribs or the 12 spice Chuicken, you'll do well to eat it all. It's only a small place in comparison to some other restaurants, but dont let that fool you! Once you've been you'll go back again.

Howard O  (29 June 2004)

Excellent Mexican food. After the first week we only ever ate at Cactus Jacks or the Italian, Venezia.

Highly recommended.

Sara A  (20 June 2004)

Well.. what can i say about this place that hasn't already been said?!

I've just got back from a 2 week holiday in Sidari and honestly this is one of the best places i have eaten!

The portions are indeed HUGE and the quality of the food and friendless of the staff are excellent. Our favourites were the starters (particially the chicken stips which come with the most amazing sauce - if anyone can shed any light to what this is, please enlighten me!)

I would recommend anyone visiting Sidari to go along, its fantastic.

Laura   (18 June 2004)

WOW WOW WOW...Ok not traditional Greek but what can i say other than the most mouth watering exceptional food...WOW

Al & sandi   (03 June 2004)

Just to add our praise to everyone elses. We thought Cactus Jacks was the best in Sidari. We were there last week and had to visit this place on several occasions. The portions are huge, the quality fantastic. The 12 spice chicken is to die for.

Martin R  (31 May 2004)

The only place which offers you half a dead cow in a burger bun... wel, thats what it felt like! the portions are just incredible, and the food very fresh and tasty, excellent service

Morag B  (23 May 2004)

Hi to George & Sarah. Fantastic food, fantastic people - the smothered chicken is to die for!

It has to be the best restaurant in Sidari.

Try the rib rack - its awesome!

Carl W  (17 May 2004)

Just got back today from Sidari, and had to comment on how good Cactus Jacks was. We went there for a supprise birthday party for the father in law, and the food and service were first rate.

If I do visit Sidari again It'll definately be one of the first places I visit for a slap up meal.

Diane B  (09 April 2004)

By far the best restaurant in Sidari, could not fault it. Prices a little bit more than anywhere else but this is definately justified by not just the quanity of the food (easily twice as much as we were served in some restaurants) but the actual quality of the food as well. You could tell that this was decent ingredients.

Again I agree about people eating late, we never eat on holiday till about 8:30-9:30 and even in england I would never dream of expecting a restaurant to serve me after 10:30-11:00 unless it was a late night curry house or kebab/pizza place.

Again another idiotic minority who give Brits abroad such a bad name, and unfortunately tar the rest of us with the same brush.

As for the staff drinking after hours, so what? you go into any bar/restauarant in the uk after closing you can bet your bottom dollar that the staff will have after hours drinks etc now and again if not all the time.

To all at cactus Jacks, a big thank you for making our hols, only trouble now is finding a mexican back home that lives up to your standards (in the 7 months, back home, no one has come close)

Di

It's nearly time to start another season here at Cactus Jack's Tex-Mex Bar & Grill. It's our third year at this location and fifth year
running Tex-Mex here in Sidari. I'd like to thank all of our customers for their continued support over the years, especially those of you who come year after year to visit us again - we must be doing something right! We appreciate web sites like these and the comments added by customers are invaluable feed-back, of which we always take note, so please continue to let us know what you think.

Caroline R  (17 February 2004)

I have to laugh about the comment on restaurants not serving after a certain time. We have been going to Sidari for 7 years now and I certainly would not expect a restaurant to serve me at 11.35pm at night. Although we dont eat early when on holiday (usually around 9.30pm) that is a ridiculous time to ask a someone to start cooking again. If you cant get out early enough to have something to eat there is always McDonalds. Most restauranteurs are up at 6.00 in the morning to start the day's preparation of food and yes although they may be up late themselves, that is their time and most of the staff have their meal then. You are not in the UK.

Vanessa K  (29 September 2003)

Portions were massive we had ribs to share with skins and garlic bread and were stuffed (and my boyfriend is a big eater) very nice food and for the amount you get very qood value as well - just don't order starters and mains as you just will end up feeling sick ! Good veggie choice as well.

Lucy W  (22 September 2003)

I've just come back from Corfu after spending 3 months out there and i can honestly say that Cactus Jacks is definitely the best food you will taste in a long time, The waitress's and waiters are extremly pleasent and helpful with which foods are nice, The price's are brilliant for the quality in the foods. Dont believe the pesimist's until you have tried.

Linda O  (18 September 2003)

In Sidari for 2 weeks in June and discovered Cactus Jacks on about the third night. The food was fantastic as were the staff and prices, went there quite a few nights during our stay, did not find any better restaurant. The only complaint is the portions were so big I could never finish my meal, although my husband did every time. I would highly recomend it and will definitely be going back when we next visit.

Peter D  (30 July 2003)

We went to Sadari last October and ate at Cactus Jacks the first night and the food and service was so excellent that we ate their most evenings. The garlic King Prawns were great as was every dish we tried - the portions were huge.
The Staff were friendly efficient and you could not have wished for better service.
I would recommend this to family and friends and cannot understand the negative comments.

Emma B  (28 July 2003)

I have visited this restaurant many times over the past 2 years. Each visit was EXCELLENT..The English chef is to be highly complimented. Each dish is amazing, all freshly cooked and so large. Great value for money. I have highly recommended this restaurant to family and friends. I have always found the staff to be polite and welcoming, never rude or dismissive.. Always best to book a table, to avoid disappointment, as it is always busy... My FAVOURITE restaurant in Sidari.. Congratulations to the owners & staff for many pleasant hours spent in their restaurant....

Nick G  (28 July 2003)

I arrived back from Sidari 2 days ago so I'll comment while everything is still fresh in my mind! My wife and I ate here several times and we have nothing but praise for the food, staff and general atmosphere of Cactus Jacks. Yes, the prices are a Euro or two more than other restaurants in the area, but you have to keep in mind the portions are huge so you are actually getting better value for money. We usually ate between 7.30-8.30pm, when the restaurant was generally full to the rafters. There's no better advertisement than a full restaurant.

If anyone requires any further information about any aspects of Sidari please e-mail me at NICKG@SHIREHOTELS.CO.UK

Sie M  (28 July 2003)

We have been holidaying in Sidari for years and Cactus Jacks is by far our favourite restaurant there to eat in. Their rack of ribs is enormous the chips are homemade and the quality of the food from starters to desserts can't be faulted. They don't advertise huge portions or try to attract you with specials they are packed daily just on the strength of their food. Portions are the size of a small american state but you should try and save room for dessert because you wont find anything else like it in sidari.

Sara R  (27 July 2003)

I am the owner and head chef at Cactus Jacks and am sorry if anybody had a less then enjoyable experience at my restaurant. I cannot imagine why anybody would be told we serve food until 11.30 or stop at 10.30 because we have always served until 11.00 and not a minute after. We serve only freshly prepared food and at that time are either fit to drop or have run out of practically everything from fajitas to burgers to chips and rice. I am sorry of any inconvenience caused by misinformation and have reprimanded the waiting staff at Cactus Jacks. I am however disappointed that reviewers would stoop to the same level of misinformation - firstly if you have not eaten my food how can you rate it as poor, if you have not paid my prices how can you rate them as poor and lastly anyone passing at 4 am would not have seen staff inside but me and my husband or family who live here and treat this place as our living room when we are not open.

Suzanne I  (26 July 2003)

We also tried to get food at just before 11pm. We were told that they stopped serving food at 10.30. Where we stayed we had to walk past here to get into/ out of town. It shut at different times every night, but you can guarentee staff would be drinking in there at 4am. So sounds like a great place- that is if you work there!

Richard & sarah C  (23 July 2003)

great place to eat, size of the portions were fantastic. staff were a bit of a let down though. we also had ribs, very good value. obviously like most english restaurants if you try getting served food at 11.30 you wont get it, so a bit of a dumb comment to write.

If you get there at a reasonable eating time like normal people you would find that the meals were amazing. We had the rack of ribs and you would not believe the size of the meal, and it was well presented and beutifully cooked.Nearly everyone there had been before or were saying they would be back. The people next to us said they had eaten there every night.I would recommend cactus jacks to anyone.

We ate at a lot of places in Sidari; tended to eat later and all but one place would still serve food - Cactus Jacks wouldn't serve us 2 nights on the trot. First night we got there at 11.35 to be told 11.30 was last orders, so got there next night at 11.00 to be told they'd just finished doing food! We got distinct inpression they couldn't be bothered, so don't know about the food but the attitude stinks!
