Hi Jacqui, If you contact me on caroline.langley@northlindsey.ac.uk I can give you info on Corfu.

You obviously have not even tried to get to know the Corfiots at all. If you had then you would have found them to be the most generous, warm and friendly people you could hope to meet. They think that we want, football, english beer etc so its down to us to put them straight. We have been going to Sidari for 7 years, twice a year, and yes we have seen changes but the people remain the same. They are trying to earn a living like the rest of us. We need positive comments, not negative ones. By all means go elsewhere.
I have to laugh about the comment on restaurants not serving after a certain time. We have been going to Sidari for 7 years now and I certainly would not expect a restaurant to serve me at 11.35pm at night. Although we dont eat early when on holiday (usually around 9.30pm) that is a ridiculous time to ask a someone to start cooking again. If you cant get out early enough to have something to eat there is always McDonalds. Most restauranteurs are up at 6.00 in the morning to start the day's preparation of food and yes although they may be up late themselves, that is their time and most of the staff have their meal then. You are not in the UK.
I understand that Sweethome Apartments came under First Choice last year as there are various comments on the apartments on holidays uncovered with the tour operator being named as First Choice. Hope this helps
The Angelinas apartments are situated at the Canal D Amour area of Sidari. Although I havent stayed there, there are favourable comments on the following link www.holiday-truth.com.
As for excursions, DONT use the tour operator it will cost you an arm and a leg. Use Vlasseros Travel which is in the middle of Sidari High Street opposite The Three Brothers Hotel. You cant miss it as he has red telephone boxes inside. I would recommend the Island Tour by coach. It is a wonderful way to see the whole of Corfu and different resorts. He has tours of all kinds by boat and coach and you will be spoilt for choice. I hope this helps.

I only know the Olive Grove Apartments which are situated at the Canal d'Amour end of Sidari. It could be a new one for this year. There is plenty of night life for your 21 and 18 year olds, and plenty to do for 10 years olds especially if they like water sports. There is also a water park. Plenty of Restaurants & Bars including a McDonalds. Corfiots love children so you wont have a problem there. It is quite safe. As you are going in September it is much quieter than July and August, so the resort won't be quite as bustling. We usually go in June and October. Accommodation as always in Greece is basic but clean. The beaches at some points arent so good, but the Canal D'Amour area is probably the best. If you feel up to it, hire a car for a few days and explore the island you will find some lovely deserted beaches and friendly tavernas to visit. This year we will have been visiting for 8 years, twice a year, and although things have changed quite a lot, we have made many friends in Sidari and consider it our home from home. It is not the Corfiots that are normally the problem. Some tourists expect too much. Its the tour operators that make the money and you'd be surprised how little hotel and apartment owners actually get. Hope this helps.
Hi Sandra
If you email me on caroline.langley@northlindsey.ac.uk

We have stayed at the Astoria Hotel. We had no complaints. The rooms though basic are clean. Maid even remade the beds. The Astoria is a well established hotel situated on Sidari High Street. The only complaint may be the noise at night and all inclusive which some people dont like. The Astoria bar is at the front of the hotel, the entrance to the side and a large restaurant to the back then sun loungers and straight into the sea. Sally and Vassilis are lovely hosts. Sally is English so you wont have a problem with language. It is a family run hotel and they will do their best to make your stay a happy one. Hope this helps.

The Goudelis Apartments are situated on the outskirts of Sidari and although I havent stayed there, have heard good reports. Your friends will have to take things like hairdryers. Apartments and most hotels are basic accommodation and dont supply these. If you require any further info on Sidari in general please email caroline.langley@northlindsey.ac.uk.
Hi Vicky if you email me at caroline.langley@northlindsey.ac.uk I have a map of Sidari. You will find that the Beach Star apartments are at the opposite end to Canal D'Amour.
To Elaine
Yes the apartments do have towels, bath as well as hand towels. They also supply tea towels. I dont know where you will get a laundry service in Sidari, not sure if they have one yet. The apartments are lovely and in a very nice position. We stayed there last year in October. We normally stay in the Beach Star Hotel on our main holiday which is next to the Perros Apartments. Only word of warning is that the power to the apartments shuts off when you take the brass key holder out with the key so if you have a plug in repellant it wont work when you are out. I would advise taking a proper fly spray with you as well as the deterrent and spraying that around the apartment when you go out at night. This will stop the little blighters from getting at you.
Hi Dave
Just to let you know that the Bungy Ball is no longer there. It was an absolute eyeshore on the landscape of Sidari anyway. I personally won't miss it. Can I just comment on the information about the bars and nightclubs for our families going to Sidari. Some of them may be open all night but not all. They have by law to shut their doors by a certain time to keep the noise down. The opposite end to Canal
D'Amour, Megali Beach is also another quieter end of Sidari.
Hi Noel
Have you done a database search on this site. It gives you quite a few comments about the Theodosia. All of them good.
Hi Christine
Are you sure they are the IonLoxides Annexe? I have not heard of these before only Loxides Apartments and Annexe. Who is the tour operator?
Hi Leigh
You can get Leader cigarettes there for one Euro a packet. There is an old man's bar in the middle of Sidari High Street that sells loads of brands but you will find cigarettes at some new places on Sidari High Street now. Sidari Village did have some bad press earlier on when they had just opened, a lot teething problems, but it appears to have settle down well now and so far (the last year) there have been no serious complaints at all.
Go out there with an open mind, be courteous with your hosts and enjoy yourselves. If you need any further information about Sidari itself then please feel free to email me on caroline.langley@northlindsey.ac.uk

Hi Annmarie
Thomas Cook, JMC and Sunset all come under the same umbrella. We stay at the Beach Star Hotel every year and for the last 3 they have been under JMC then Thomas Cook. Next year however their apartments will be under Thomas Cook and the hotel will be under Sunset! The Sunset Brochure isnt out until September and you may find that your apartments are in there if they are still contracted to TC, but you wont be able to find anything out until the brochure comes out. Its total idiocy as far as we are concerned as they are all together and we can't understand why they are doing it. We will just have to wait and book when we can.
Caroline
Hi David
Have you done a database search on this site. They have some very positive comments. On renting your apartment for another day. At most apartments you hold your room until 12noon on the day of your departure and as your departure is in the morning I would have thought you would still be in your accommodation. It would seem very strange if you have to wait a whole 24 hours before leaving and not have any accommodation.
Caroline
Hi David
I hope I have been of some help. We've been going there for some time and wouldnt go anywhere else now. Just a thought, ask the owners if they will have an apartment free to rent that you can use or if they know of another apartment complex that you can rent a room for the day. I wouldnt try the tour operators they always say no. Most of the apartments and tavernas are owned by families who live in the area surrounding Sidari and are all related in some way or another. So you are sure to find somewhere if you ask politely.
Caroline
For all those who may be considering going either back to the Beach Star Apartments or on their first visit, please be aware that they have been renamed the Oresti Apartments and are in the Thomas Cook Brochure. If you want to stay in the hotel this is now under the Sunset Brochure.
Hi Kara
I have been going to Corfu for over 8 years now and have never seen any racial prejudice. There are always a mixture of people in the resort of all minorities and nationalities. The Corfiot people are wonderful when you get to know them and I have never experienced any prejudice from them either.
Hope this helps.

If you have booked with Thomas Cook, these apartments used to be the Beach Star Apartments and are now called the Oresti Apartments which is the owner's son's name.If it is the same, they are excellent apartments to stay in. Opposite end to the Canal D'Amour area of the resort in a quiet location and a stones throw from the beach. If you would like an A3 map which shows you the location, please email me on caroline.langley:northlindsey.ac.uk

Hi John
There are two lots of Maria's Apartments. Both in the Canal D'Amour area of Sidari. One lot used to be part of the Hawaii complex and they are excellent as my friends run the bar and pool there. These would have been booked through the Sunset Brochure or JMC. The other apartments are a bit nearer the beach and they have had some bad press but there have been varying comments both good and bad.
As you are going early in October, please be aware that the temperature drops dramatically at night and it can be very cold, so make sure that you take something warm for the evening.
Hi Julia
The weather in late Sept/Oct is still good, although in the 20's and not 30's. You can still sunbathe and although there is a lot more cloud about and the odd rainy day its still lovely. The resort will be a lot quieter as it is coming to the end of the season, although the bars and nightclubs will still be open. As I have said to John it is a lot cooler at night so you need to take something to keep warm.
Hi Julie
I havent stayed in the Yiannis Apartments but I have heard very good comments about them from people who have stayed there as you pass the Beach Star Hotel (where we stay every year) on the way to the beach and often used to use this hotel's facilities whilst there. Only downside I was told was that you need a torch at night because it isnt well lit going back. I know they were shown on Holidays from Hell but it has to be remembered that accommodation in Greece is basic. For the post part Corfiots are very friendly, honest and kind people, but as in this country, rub them up the wrong way and be rude and you are not going to get much satisfaction.
Hi Nicola
The Zafiris Apartments are located in the Canal D'Amour area of Sidari and have very good right-ups on both this site and others. If you email me on caroline.langley@northlindsey.ac.uk I can send a map and general information if that would be of help.
Hi Joan
The Perros Apartments are situated at the opposite end to the Canal D'Amour in a quiet location opposite the beach. If you would like a map showing where they are please email me on caroline.langley@northlindsey.ac.uk.

Hi Steve
For several years now I have been compiling a map of apartments in Sidari and would be grateful if anyone could give me an idea of where these apartments are in relation to e.g. High Street, BP Station, Canal d'Amour. Your help would be very much appreciated.
Thank you
Caroline
Hi Karen & Paul
The Three Brothers is under Thomson. You can also contact them direct at (2663) 95333 or 95342. Fax is (2663) 95953. Hope this helps. Melanie is one of the best people to speak to. I have put the code as 2663 instead of 0663 as I think it has changed now.
