In Sidari for 2 weeks in June and discovered Cactus Jacks on about the third night. The food was fantastic as were the staff and prices, went there quite a few nights during our stay, did not find any better restaurant. The only complaint is the portions were so big I could never finish my meal, although my husband did every time. I would highly recomend it and will definitely be going back when we next visit.
Have just returned from the Olive Grove apartments on the 11/10/2004, had an absolutely brilliant time, Yanni, Katerina and spyros made the holiday even better,The apartments are lovely, the food is georgous, Katerina is the best cook in Sidari. Cannot find words to say how much we enjoyed our stay. We had brilliant weather, high 80's every day, pool a bit cold this time of year, but ask Yanni to put the jacuzzi on and it takes the sting off a bit.Loved every minute of it and are missing everybody already, Yanni and Katerina's daughter is delightful and beautiful, thankyou all for a brilliant holiday. Love from Lin,Bruce, Donna & Kevin. See you all in June next year.
I went to Corfu for the first time in June 2002 and it was my first time flying, I was terrified of flying before that. I loved the plane journey, I looked out of the window all the way there and was fascinated. I spoke to the airline before I went and explained that I was scared of flying and they sat me at the front near the stewardesses, they were absolutely brilliant, they bought me a cup of tea and held my hand through the take off,the flight should have been 3 1/4 hours but actually only took 2 1/2. I have flown 10 times since then and have been back to Corfu 3 times, we only came back on the 11/10/2004. You will fall in love with the island, it is beautiful, the greek people are so friendly and will make you feel at home. The beaches are lovely and there is some wonderful places to see on the island, especially Paleokastritsa, you think you'll have died and gone to heaven. It is best to hire a car for 3 or 4 days to make the most of everything as coach trips can be expensive. We stayed in Sidari which is the north end of the Island and we love it. We are booked to go back next June with all of our family. We actually went to Rhodes in June of this year but missed Corfu so much we had to just go for a week to satisfy our craving for the place. We took 2 friends with us and they also fell in love with it. Whereabouts in Corfu are you going? Tell your wife not too worry as she will love it.
judging by the comments from Gaz C, he or she is obviously too young or immature to appreciate the island. What part did you go too as it is a wonderful place. It is very late in the season and everything is closing down so maybe that is why they weren't impressed, also due to the storms they had there a couple of weeks ago a lot of the beaches had debris on them that had been washed up from the sea. I was there from the 4th to the 11th October and it was very quiet but also very lovely.
Did I say immature, does this reply not prove my point. Maybe you should have gone to Kavos, it's probably better suited to your age group. I think they have a childrens club in a couple of the complexes.By the way it's Lin with an I not a Y. See ya Gaz.xx
We loved the food here, although we always eat greek food when we are in Corfu we thought we would try this place as we knew John and michelle from when we were there the year before as they worked in the apartments that we stayed in.The food was brilliant as was the service and we will definitely be eating their a few times when we go back in June next year. See you then John and Michelle. From Lin and Bruce.
We went on the 4/11/04 and had a brilliant week, the weather was hot for the whole week and we got a lovely tan, got a bit chilly a couple of nights but rest of the time was excellent. The week before and the week after the island had had pretty bad weather so we were very lucky
We visited the Asteria when we were in Sidari at the beginning of October, it is owned by Spiros and Maria, it is by far the best restaurant in Corfu, they employ the best chef on the island. The food is fabulous and the portions are huge, the prices are very reasonable,we paid 69 euro's for 4 of us which included starters and plenty of drinks, not just local wine but spirits. Spyros and Maria and all the waiters make you feel extremely welcome. They serve all kinds of food, not just greek, try the shrimp saganaki and the spicy meat platter which is served up sizzling in cast iron dish. The food is delicious. Spyros's parents own the Louisa apartments and the food there is also very good, their greek salad is to die for. We are going back in June for our 4th visit to Sidari and we know where we will be eating most nights.See you soon Spyros and Maria.
Love from Lin & Bruce
By the way The Asteria is located at the Canal D'Amour end of Sidari, nearly opposite the Village restaurant.
A great day out, well worth the money. If you have children with you you can sit in the middle of the park (on the piece of grass in the middle of the lazy river)and see the whole of the park, which makes it easier to see the kids at all times. It's never too busy as everyone seems to go to Aqualand, nice snack bar serves very good food and little cold drink bars all over the place. Also lockers to keep valuables in when you get fed up carrying them around. The whole place including the toilets is very clean, every time we went to use the toilets there was a cleaner in there.
Also try Sidari water park, this is quite a small one but very nice, they even have waitress service so you don't have to move from your sunbed all day if you don't want to.
Thanks Sylvia for agreeing with me, I don't understand how anyone can critise Sidari or anywhere in Corfu for that matter, we love it and will keep going back year after year.Regards Lin
Laura, obviously you did not see the letter that was written by Gaz C, if you had I think you would have agreed with us, it was obviously written by a lager lout that would have best been suited to Kavos. If you like Sidari as much as you say you do then I think you probably would have taken offence aswell. Like you say we are all entitled to our own opinions.
We stayed at the Louisa apartments 2 years ago and thought it was absolutely wonderful, the apartments are spacious and very clean, the pool area is very nice and papa, louisa, cia, spyros and Maria are lovely people, we have been back to sidari 3 times since but have not been able to get back to Louisa's as they were fully booked, but this year we booked early enough so are going back on the 10th june 2005, can't wait. Bye the way Spyros and maria now own their own restuarant a bit further down the road called Asterior, the food is wonderful, the best food I have ever had in Corfu, apparently they have employed the best greek chef all the way from England.Out of this world.
Great, wonderful, not a place to be missed when you are in Sidari.
Went back to cactus jacks when we visited sidari in October, took 2 friends with us, they could not believe the size of the meals, they also agree that the food is of very high standard. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will be back next June for our yearly fix.Keepup the good work.
