We are going to Arillas in August 2004 and would appreciate any feedback you may have. We are a couple with a nine-year old son and enjoy the quiet life with good food and drink. Your comments would be much appreciated.
I really enjoy visiting this site. I haven't been able to go back to
Arillas for 3 years now but have been many times. I always feel like
I've come home when I get there. As for Brian's query back in January,
I can say that there is lots of choice for veggies (my daughter and a
friend were well catered for). Go for the lovely Corfiot dish- Briami-
at Brouklis, saganaki(fried Cheese-light & lovely!), stuffed peppers
or tomatoes, loads of fish if you're an English veg as well. You won't
go
OVER THE PAST 14 YEARS WE HAVE BEEN TO ARILLAS EACH YEAR AT LEAST ONCE BUT USUALLY TWICE IN THE SEASON STAYING ANYWHERE BETWEEN 2 WEEKS AND SOMETIMES 4 WEEKS. A BRILLANT PLACE TO HAVE A HOLIDAY AND THE FREINDS WE'VE MET ARE STILL IN CONTACT. THERE ARE SEVERAL RESIDENTS THAT ARE NOW PERSONAL FREINDS AND WE SPEAK ON A REGULAR BASIS, WE HAVE SEEN CHILDREN BORN AND MARRIGES TAKE PLACE AND THIS YEAR WE WILL BE BACK FOR MORE. EVEN OUR CHILDREN NOW COME AWAY WITH THEIR OWN CHILDREN SO WHAT MORE CAN WE SAY!!!!!! CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SEASON TO START.
Message for Leah Ireland.
The coach trip from Corfu airport to Arilas is only an hour or so on the coach, not 4 hours.
It's fine. The coach has air conditioning to a point, but then it is Greece :) Just take some drinks with you, and enjoy the scenery. Olive groves, lemon trees etc.
Arilas is a great place. Beach is sandy and goes out for miles. You can wade in the sea for about 50 yards and still only be up to your knees. Very safe for kids.
Best place to eat is the Marina Hotel. George and his family are lovely people.
Good for walks. Standing at the Marina Hotel, walk to your left and keep going and follow the track. You will eventually come to a bar.
Quick stop for a beer, and then walk back along the road to Arilas.
You can't beat it.
Have a great time !!
Arillas is a great place for families and for people who want a peaceful and quiet holiday. If you are staying in Arillas then I would advise you to take a taxi to and from your apartments as the coach takes 4 hours to arrive at your destination. Me and my family stayed in the Christos Apartments with Olympic Holidays. The Greek people are very kind to you and make you feel like home. There are activities in Corfu and it's brilliant for kids
We go to Arillas every year, this year will be no exception. Back to the Rainbow pool and Bar with Spiro & Jimmy for 3 weeks.
We will be staying at Dionyssos II, great appartments, weather is always great, and what can i say about the boys (Spiro & Jimmy) always good fun, and I keep in touch with Jimmy all through the year.
This will be the 7th year that we have gone back to Corfu, and it definatly won't be the last !
Transfer from Corfu airport to Arillas takes about 1 hour, mainly due to the 'drop offs' along the way at other resorts.
You could hire a car or get a taxi which would take about 1/2 hour.
If you are on a package holiday a coach should be provided.
The one thing that you can't complain about are the Greek salads.
Village salad contains feta cheese, lettuce tomato cucumber etc.
Drizzle with dressing or olive oil. With crusty bread its Yum.
You will see Cucumber or tomato salad on menus, but what you get is a huge plate of JUST sliced tomato or cucumber.
If you're not in to salads just tell them what you want. They are very nice people and will be happy to help.
Arillas is a wonderful place, warm and friendly and extremely safe for the children. The locals are very friendly and extremely helpful if you have a problem. The food is fantastic and the view of the sun set is out of this world. We are returning again in August 04. This will be our 6th time!
Visited the fabulously clean and tidy Tropicana apartments around the 10th October. Had a really excellent time, not your crazy late nights sort of place, but brilliant for families or couples wanting a bit of P&Q. Hire a scooter, and visit other towns and the numerous beaches on the North Coast! (Less than one hour away, at a gentle pace). The apartments are family run, and a great place to see the North of the island from. Livelier late night everything can be found in Sadiki.
Brilliant restaurant - Brouklis - run by the 2nd nicest Greek on the island. (The other being George, who ran the apartments . . .)
Arillas is a great resort for families and couples. There are lots of restaurants, a few bars and a good beach.
Just got back from arillas Bay appartments, they're pretty basic but clean and the staff are really friendly. Infact everyone in arillas is great! Highly recommend Potafinos Restaurant, the food is superb, service excellent and it was just wonderful. They do let out appartments which are lovely, if we go again we'll definately go there and stay. Don't get as many meal deals at portafino though but Spiros and his family make you feel that every cent is well spent! Got a bottle of Ouzo as a gift when we left! Arillas itself is worth a visit for relaxation, peace and scenery, definately will go back again! I could go on singing it's praises for ever!
Excellent resort for relaxaton, still has the greek feel about it which is becoming more and more rare each time i visit the country. Arillas is a beautiful resort where you can chill out and relax. The nightlife is good although there are only a few bars. For the more adventurous a cab to Sidari is around 15 Euro, roughly £10 there you can party till your feet drop off. I highly recommend Arillas for a relaxing and peaceful holiday.
I have been to Arillas a number of times, I love the way all comments here speak about the people which make this place so special. Personal faves for me are Jimmy n Spiro at the Rainbow Bar - love you guys and of course Dimitri at Broucclis - the best food in the village, those courgette keftedes are fab! You can't beat this Arillas for a great relaxing holiday :-)
i was there at the beginning of july. there were a lot of old biddies sitting down doing nothing who couldn't be a**ed even to dip their toes in the water. let me know if they are still doing the same, when you go there. i recommend walking on the beach at night with bare feet.
we thought it was the best location in corfu. the people were really friendly. we enjoyed the nightlife. every restaurant we went into served us, probably the best food ive ever tasted. we really enjoyed our stay there.
It was a lovely place and ive been there 8 times i would reccomend to everyone!
Arillas is the place to go ffor a typically greek location for peace and quiet. the sunsets are beautiful. hello to anyone who was at the gallini apartments during the 3 end weeks of may 03. we stayed there with our 3 children of 9, 12 and 14 who loved it and did not crave for entertainment or kids'clubs.any info required please contact me on lynneylou@myrealbox.com
we have just returned from 3 weeks stay at the gallini apartments which were lovely. just far away enough from the tavernas and shops. we plan to go again next year the only negative was that we found it quite expensive with the euro approx £30 per night for a meal for 5.
We have just got back from two weeks at the Arrilas Bay Apartment in Arrilas. We had one of the best holidays we have had. I have to children aged 8 and 3. We were looked after really well and nothing was too much trouble.
The Sea Breaze Bar which is attached to the apartments is a real family friendly resturant. Hello to Yianni if you read this he is truely a great guy and is really helpful and hard working not forgetting the rest of the staff who give their all to make your stay memorable.
Arrilas is grat for familys as it's not to loud or busy. and the doctor there is great.
If your staying ther you won't regret it
I am going to the Marina Apartments in June. Can anyone tell me if towels are provided or will I have to bring my own. Thanks
stayed at the the marina apartments in early may 2003. what can I say? it was brilliant-the friendlyness and charm of the people the clean beach, the delicious food and the sunsets to die for. we only went for a week and it was not long enough! we could have stayed there for good-we dream of a lotto win haha! our son is 4 and gets bored easily he was entertained on the beach or at the splish splash pool and in an evening he was quite happy to go to the malibu bar and the allure of its video arcade!. if you like to party till 6 in the morning arillas is not the place for you but if you yearn for peace and tranquility run down to your travel agent now. honestly you wont be diappointed! we have been back 2 days and we have already booked for september! we are counting down the days! who knows we might get that lottery win before then !! and make arillas home for life!
Hi to Costas & Perry. If you read this meessage please say hi to them!. I used to work in Coconut bar in the 1990's. It is an excellent Bar with a very friendly atmosphere! Great music (especially when I worked there (he'he). Lots of love, Mike, Trudy & (new) baby Ryan.
Arriving at the Arillas Bay appartments on Sept 1st. Manos state towels are not always available at their accomodation, is this the case with these appartments? Eager to know to cut down on luggage especially if we need to pack brollies as some of you suggest rain! Thanks for the help!
get yourself to sidari for the [nighlife]or arrilas is a bit quieter but still a few good bars much nicer than sidari.go to the coconut bar in arrilas and see lewis and juile an english couple been working there for the last 4 years, theyll tell you everything you need to know.
i'm 20 and goin on hols with the girls we were thinking about kavos but have been completely put off going there. We want somewhere with good nightlife but quite in the day. If your around the same age and have been on hols there please give me your opinion
Coming on holiday 18/7 with wife and 3 teenagers to Bardis sun. What cost local car hire? 3/7/14? Is it cheaper to hire at airport? What type of local meals and what is average cost?
We have been going to Arillas for 5 years now and try to get there at least twice a year. It feels more like home than england.
You must eat at the Portonfino on the beach front. It is a family business run by Spiro and Helen and they make everyine feels welcome. The food is excellent with large portions and is good value for money, try the Stifado. The sunsets are to die for.
Best bar is the Coconut Bar run by Kostas and his brother Perry, the atmosphere is great and it caters for all the family. Even the locals drink here after they all close up so the later you stay the better the atmosphere.
The beach is excellent and at the far right hand side you can find the nudist beach although I have never dard to go there. There are alot of water sports and at the Arilla Travel you can book day trips and horse rides. There are also excellent walks for the more energetic.
Going back in May and hopefully October, just need to win the lottery to become a local myself. See you there.
Love the place!A real get a way from it all location.Locals genuinely very friendly.Visit the Coconut Bar where you will meet brothers Perry and Kostas who will make you most welcome. We will definitly be returning in 2003.
my family and i have been going to corfu for many years and i can say that arillas is the best place to go if you are after a totally relaxing holiday . if you want the night life it is there, if you don't then you can easily avoid it . the local people are the friendliest that we have ever met!!!! we are going there for the 4th year in a row in may 2003 . if you see me you can buy me a beer
Our favourite places to eat were: Marina Hotel, Sea Breeze (they do a good value for money special which is a 3 course meal for 8 or 9 euros) and a little more expensive but worth it for a special night was Kostas on the beach.
We stayed at the Marina Hotel (good food & very friendly staff)in September 2002. The resort was just what we hoped for - great beach fairly quiet with some lovely tavernas serving excellent food. There are some lovely walks to neighbouring resorts and villages. If you go to Corfu town it's worth the early rise to get the local bus which leaves at 7.00am and returns around 3.30pm, much better than an organised trip as you get to see many little villages which are off the beaten track and less than 1/2 the price.
such a nice place to chill yet with enough nightlife to enjoy yourself. great place for getting to know the locals. love it to bits.
Arilas is a small resort, with only a handful of bars and restauants, but most offer excellent food and service, with lovely sea views (and sunsets). A great resort for couples wanting a relaxing holiday with the beach and restaurants within walking distance. A sunset walk along the beach is highly recommended.
