What are the roomslike? What is the food like? What kind of atmosphere does the bar have in the evenings?
David & I stayed there a couple of years ago. Apts. are basic but clean & pleasant, use of pool/bar set in nice gardens directly opposite. Lovely walk to the beach. Favourite place to eat was the "Captains Taverna" on the beach front. Also enjoyed walking to Acharavi along the beach & stopping off for a cold beer on the way.
Sorry for the brevity of my 1st query. David & I are going to spend 2 wks @ the Marina commencing 30/9/02. We've had the hol. booked for over a yr now & we'll be celebrating our 30th anniversary while away. We've had 2 hols on Corfu staying in Roda & Aghios Georgios (North). We are hoping for a peaceful but friendly resort with good food and clean accomodation. We also hope to walk to nearby villages if poss. maybe even visit Aghios Georgios again. We'd be really grateful for any comments about either the resort or hotel. Thanks Cheryl
David and I had a lovely warm welcome when we arrived. All the staff are friendly. The rooms are very small but clean, the view from our room was great as we had a front facing one, but I understand that all room have a sea view. Breakfast was OK - fruit salad, cereal, toast & jam, orange squash and tea or coffee. You can pay a discounted price of 2.50 euros for a cooked one, which again was OK. The taverna is open all day for snacks and drinks, and the evening meals were excellent with a choice of 2 or 3 daily specials in additon to the normal menu. Average cost of a meal for 2 was £16 less a 10% discount for hotel guests, this was for a starter & main course, a couple of beers and 1/2 caraffe of wine.
We stayed at the Marina Hotel (good food & very friendly staff)in September 2002. The resort was just what we hoped for - great beach fairly quiet with some lovely tavernas serving excellent food. There are some lovely walks to neighbouring resorts and villages. If you go to Corfu town it's worth the early rise to get the local bus which leaves at 7.00am and returns around 3.30pm, much better than an organised trip as you get to see many little villages which are off the beaten track and less than 1/2 the price.
Our favourite places to eat were: Marina Hotel, Sea Breeze (they do a good value for money special which is a 3 course meal for 8 or 9 euros) and a little more expensive but worth it for a special night was Kostas on the beach.
