just a quick note to say that Graham, the rep at yiannis village is excellent. Helps everyone, no problem is too small for him to give his full attention, was always organising football for kids and adults alike, a really friendly guy, top marks.

just got back (today) from a two week stay at the paradise apartments in sidari via jmc. it's really been a fortnight of mixed emotions. firstly our flight from manchester was six hours late leaving. then after arriving in corfu we found that the transfer was a nightmare witht the transfer rep having to show each party to their rooms at each complex as there were no reception staff available at any of the resorts people were visiting.the actual accomidation would have been first rate if it had been what we had purchased through the brochure. we purchased a two bedroom apartment to sleep 5 (2 in each room and a fith in the living area), however when we got there it was a one bedroom apartment with 3 beds in the living area. we found that the main rep for our site walked out in the first week we were there as he was being treated so badly by the company (which was a real pitty as he was probably one of the best reps i have ever spoken too), and he was replaced by his sup**visor who was an absolute waste of time. he would agree to meet people with complaints on days he knew were his days off, he would not be in the resort when he should have been and the level of service he offered was just total rubbish.

the only really helpful people from jmc we saw were the kidsworld reps who had been dumped on dealing with all of the customer complaints, but despite this still managed to make the kids happy so much that they insisted on going every club (my little girl even cried when she had to leave them). they were both really nice and helpfull, and to be honest, were the only people we had contact with who understood what good customer service was.

the flight back was pretty uneventfull, and was pretty much what you'd expect from a charter flight.

Well i must say that i am discusted by some of the comments left by the 'General Public' on sites such as these. For a start you go on holiday to get away form the UK. So forget your English Breakfast and your cooling breezes. You are abroad where breakfast is continental, where the weather is above and beyond 100 most months, and yes it is true for this reason you are going to get....Mozzies...Cockroaches....Lizards and all matter of creepy crawlies that dont reside in our comfortable UK residence. You are in a foreign country as Guest yes thats right a GUEST and would you go visit as a guest waking up the neighbours, creating and trashing rooms i think not ... nor would you complain about having to put the toilet paper in the bin......This is custom and so if u are holidaying in Greece you know about this befor you go. Demand information from your travel agent, demand it in writing, if it is promised but not written down dont bother the rep cos 9 times out of ten they cant help as a travel agent has lied too you. Remember travel agents are on commisssion they can tell you what they like cos they need to get comission... when you get back from holiday thet often convieniently forget selling you the holiday and you dont have a leg to stand on. Use your common sense if the travel agent sells you a sea, beach and mountain view unless you are in a glass house do you really think you are going to get this??? Also some agents gaurentee double beds........unless it is written as a gaurentee not as a request then you probably wont get it. Requests are not gaurentees but are only available if possable so dont use them as final. I believe that JMC /Thomas Cook and Sunset reps are the most polite and accomodatiing representatives in the business. I have travelled many years abroad as a journalist and have taken many package holidays independantly reporting on the consumers holiday needs and i have become increasingly discused by the compensation Nation that is developing within the holidaying consumer. Your rep is a communication channel who has knowledge and assistance for you. They are human and deserve the uttermost respect. Specifically JMC Thomas Cook and Sunset representatives are the most customer focused in the industry.....Think next time your away and remember Holidays are about getting away, escaping the UK so dont expect the home comforts whilst abroad and bare in mind your rep who isnt paid enough to hear your complaints about Continental Breakfast or Cockroaches they hear it all the time and possably are longing for a cooked breakfast too.

As we visit Sidari twice a year we know very well what the resort is like and the accommodation. As for representatives we have had bad and good. The only way that we collectively can do anything about bad resort representatives, their inefficiency and their manners, is to make an official complaint when you get back to the UK. This will be taken seriously. It is no use trying to get through to them at the resort it just doesnt work. Ask for a complaint form, write your complaint and keep a copy to take back with you. If the tour operator gets enough of these forms, something will be done. Its no use complaining after the event and not putting it in writing. They cannot do anything about it if they are in the dark. When you send your report in they have 28 days in which to reply. I'm not saying that you will be entitled to any compensation, that would depend on the severity of the complaint, but at least you will get an acknowledgement that the complaint has been taken seriously.

JMC/Thomas Cook Airlines were fantastic from the beginning of our holiday to the end. I have read some of the comments on this page and I cannot believe some of the things people complain about! My advice would be to find out a little bit about where you are going before you book if you are picky, and also if you don't want a long wait from vacating your apartment to flying home, pay the extra and book a day flight!

Misled at time of booking, told late availability room would be available on arrival. It wasn't, JMC reps on site (BEACH STAR APTS, SIDARI) were unhelp and hostile when I asked to make a complaint. Spoke to several reps, Who didn't attempt to help in any way, 1 of which wasn't aware that there was a courtsey room available at the nearby Beach Star Hotel( found that out myself!!). No booking system in place for courtsey room and therefore, we were unable to use, as there was a big queue!!! ended up using showers next to pool.. Had to be out of apartment by 12noon, which meant a 15 HOUR!!! wait for coach to airport with my two children and elderly parents.. and surprise surprise there were no reps to be seen during this 15 hour wait, and not enough comfy chairs for everyone at the hotel. So we had to sit on hard seats for a majority of the time!!! NEVER AGAIN WILL I BOOK WITH JMC.. HAVE LOST FAITH WITH THOMAS COOK COMPLETELY!!!!

i thought jmc were fab..i went with manos last yr who were terrible but jmc were friendly, helpful and the prices were sooooo much better than other tour operators. sarah was right..corfu is basic and you've got to accept it..if you don't quite simply don't go back!!!it's a beautiful island and i go back every yr... i was quite shocked by some of the moaners on this comments board!i love corfu!

JMC were friendly and helpful. One of our group were injured in a moped accident and she had to go to hospital in Corfu Town which is about and hour away from Kavos. The reps were helpful when we needed to sort out the insurance etc and they were readily available when we needed them. They went to the hospital to visit our friend and they took clothes etc to her. On the way home the reps tried to keep us well informed although there was some confusion with where to queue up etc. The flights were ok, slighty cramped on the plane and the food was a bit vile but it was efficient.

i have just returned from hotel mimosa in sidari. it was the worst hotel i have been to. i was staying in the new block which had just been completed months earlier ( by shoddy romanian 'builders') and was falling to bits already. it was classed as 3* superier. i have been in better 1* hotels. complained to rep, who fobbed us off then ignored us for the remainder of the holiday. we assumed she was in her 1st season - no- she had done ibiza and was s**te so she was put to kavos and was still s**te, so she was put to sidari out of the way! all the excursions were over priced- exact same trips could be booked in the town 1/3 cheaper! i will never go anywhere with jmc again!

JMC's local staff need to sort out the airport transfers. In May the transfer time from the airport to Acharavi was over 3 hours. The JMC transfer rep tried to laugh it off by calling it "the grand island tour" as it visited so many resorts on the way. Bear in mind that there was a half empty coach to the neighbouring resort of roda, that they did not use. 3 hours in the sweltering heat is far too long when the actual driving time is around 40 mins. Taking drop off's into account one and a half hours woud have been a reasonable time. If you are staying at the beis beach hotel (a very nice hotel incidentally) be aware that the JMC board (in May) was incorrectly stating that coach pickups for return journeys are from the front of the building. After nearly missing my coach I discovered that coaches pickup from the beach behind the hotel, a few hundred yards in the opposite direction. I have contacted JMC regarding these issues and they assure me that they will be dealt with. As I am returning in August I will make a point of checking and reporting back. Neither of these issues are difficult to rectify and just serve to indicate sloppy local management.

I have recently returned from greece to return to uni having spent the last three months working as a jmc rep. i am going to give you my honest opinion on what its like to be a rep.Having never been to greece before i really did not know what to expect and i must say that the jmc flight was to the same standard of other airlines that i have used to go on holiday abroad with, yes it was a bit cramped, the food ok nothing special but what do you really expect? Now the airport can be a bit of a nightmare but the only way that reps can help here is by being happy at whatever time of the day or night it is. On the transfers the reps do try to do them as quickly as possible but we have to make sure people check in properly and even have to show guests to there rooms if there isnt a 24hr reception and that means running all round hotels with different parties which when people have their heavy suitcases with them is obviously going to take a little while. All sorts of things happen on a day to day basis whilst being a rep which means that sometimes you are not there when it states on the visiting times notice, remembering that some reps have as many as 5 hotels to look after. and when you do face a problem which needs investigating it is up to the reps to do it which means trips to the office, ages on the phone finding out this and that and not forgetting finding fancy dress costumes/ cabaret rehearsal/ accounting and paperwork. i really am not saying that reps should be given some slack atall. i fully agree that all of it is our job but i think alot of reps find it hard to do their jobs properly due to the amount of paperwork and accounting and the emphasis on sales from management. it is easy to loose sight once you have been out there for a while how important holidays are to people as a break from their everyday lives and the standards that they expect when they have paid decent money.Greece is basic but it does have so much to offer. Some of the most common complaints in resort that i experienced were to do with the fact that there were no shower curtains or that it was a hand held shower, putting toilet paper in the bin not in the loo, mosquitoes, continental breakfasts, no pavements, too strong drinks measures, the albanian gypsies selling roses everywhere. yes, this is not what you would expect in england but it is greece. i think it is a terrible shame that so many people expect a home from home and do not want to even try to adapt to a different way of life for their holiday. A holiday should be seen as an adventure and a discovery and if you are going abroad be prepared to live as the greeks do, you are in their country and they are just the friendliest people. I understand that when there are serious problems then the reps are there to help and they really do try as far as they possibly can. but why not make the most of it? You get out of time abroad what you put in and there is something for everyone on corfu so get out there and enjoy it!I was completely astounded by the means and lengths that some people will go to to chase reps to complain about the smallest things that the reps couldnt have changed anyway, it is not the reps or the company that ruins the majority of holidays but holidaymakers themselves that do not get on and enjoy themselves and leave the complaining to later if it really is that bad.Go to corfu and use jmc, the island is beautiful and packed with things to do, the reps will try and do what they can for you, but just remember that you are thousands of miles from england.....
