I have just got back from a weeks holiday staying at the Borghese Pension in Ipsos. I have to be perfectly honest with my comments here and paint the picture as i found it.
Me and my boyfriend stayed at the Borghese Pension for 1 week at the end of July 2008. The hotel is situated above Passoa bar which we thought was one of the best bars in Ipsos. However the hotel left a lot to be desired! We were put in room 2 which was directly above the DJ box and the music blarred until 5am.....i was lucky it was my sort of music otherwise i would have went looking for the electric box! When we did eventually manage to get to sleep, we were woke up at 11.30am every morning with the sound of workmen drilling from the room above.....not exactly what you want for a relaxing holiday! (Watch out for the picture above the bed in room 2 ....its enough to give you nightmares!)
We stayed at the borghese pension in ipsos corfu from the 11th to the 19th of July and we had a fantastic time. The apartment where above the Passoa Bar the best bar on the island. The apartments were basic but clean and they where run by a very nice and friendly family who we were made very welcome by. I would certainly return to ipsos and stay again at the borghese pension top marks for entertainment ;-) it was sad to have to leave such a beautiful and friendly place. I would just like to say a big thank you to all the staff at the Passoa for making our holiday very enjoyable and especially to Georgio, Alex, their lovely Mother, and the rest of the bar staff miss you all and hope to see you all again in the very near future xx
I have just returned exactly one week ago from a weeks stay 14th July through to 22nd 2008 at the Borghese Pension. I travelled with my Parents and we were initially only going to be staying a couple of days but ended up staying the entire week! The accomodation was arranged by my partner who knows of the owners there. Our first impressions were 'Oh my god, how are we going to sleep?' this didn't concern me a great deal as I am an avid fan of earplugs! The rooms were basic, but they were clean! My Parents had a room with beautiful ocean views and my room was at the back of the property which was far more quiet. The linen and towels were changed twice per week and anything else you just needed to ask! There was no breakfast, however I found this typical in Corfu. The beach was litterally accross the street and the many restaurants and bars of Ipsos were a short walk away. The best thing about our hotel was that it was directly over the Passoa bar which by far is the best bar in Ipsos and only a few feet to stumble! As for Georgio and Alex these boys are a true asset to their Mother. They work tremendously hard to make your holiday a remarkable experience. I was having a tough time at beginning of my holiday and these two really cheered me up. I still believe that Alex makes the best Mojhito and I have travelled Cuba extensively! As for Georgio, well I know that he will always be a really good friend and someone I feel sure that our paths will cross again someday.
Stayed at the Borghese Pension for a week from 11th July to 19th July 2008. Had a ball!! Went with my friend, Carol, and met up with 4 mad ones from Liverpool. The brothers, Georgio and Alex were friendly and very welcoming - Alex is a pure flirt but a good laugh. Young Georgio behind the bar is also a great edition to this hotel and they all really helped us to have a great time. Christina serves the drinks and I will keep in contact with her for a long time. If you manage to get up during the day ( which we struggled to do with such late nights!) then you will get a chance to meet the mother. She is absolutely charming and you will be amazed how young she is.
Our favourite bar besides Passoa was the Old Tree. Early on (by that I mean between 11 and 12) they play a load of 80's & 90's music before they change to harder music for the young ones. There is also a great chinese restaurant worth looking out for. The boys in there are lovely and we ate in there more often than not. If you want some good english grub then Tiffany's bar is the place to eat. Hated the toilets in there but the food was gorgeous.
The beach is literally just across the road and a wonderful woman a couple of doors up hires out the sunbeds for just €3 per day. The memory of lying of the sunbeds and listening to the water lapping behind me will be a memory I will treasure for a long time to come.
I would definately recommend this resort and this hotel if you are looking for a fun and lively holiday. Great for a girl's week away!! Hope you enjoy it if you decide to go.

"i'll come to sweden.. soon" .. his last promise.
my good, the best vacation ever.
Me and my girlfriend stayed here June/July 2006, the Borghese Pension was ideal for what we needed, although i wouldn't recommend it for families with small children but for couples and younger people it is just what you need. Some nights it was noisy but i think it depends on where abouts your room is, as ours was above the bar, but its not unbearable and you do get used to it. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and chatty, and Cj's is a few doors down and is a great place to have brekie, as although you do get something at Borghese its only toast and a drink. Hiring a speed boat was the highlight of our holiday and would recommend it to anyone, you can find the most amazing hidden coves and clear blue sea. Popping into Dirty Nellies is a must. Overall Ipsos is a great place to go, it has the right balance between lazy days and crazy nights... Will definitely be returning..
Hey, Jo n me stayed here in early august 2006. We booked two days before and were quite impressed, despite the comments here. Yes, the breakfast leaves nothing to be desired, but it is kept clean and the maid is very friendly and helpful if you chat to her. The only downfall was the loud music until 3 in the morning, but you soon get used to it. I think that also depends on the room you are staying in, we were right above the night bar. Definitely hire a boat from the big greek guy across the road. I think it was called Memas boat hire. He is a really nice guy and very friendly. He let us take the boat out again on the last day free after hiring it earlier in the week for 70 euros for the whole day! Great value and you can go anywhere you want in it even to secluded beaches which was great fun for snorkelling n stuff :) Also, we hired a go-kart type buggy which was really fun, and drove to Corfu Town for some shopping. The roads are quite stressfull though! On the whole it is really good value and you can barter down prices. Just watch out for black henna, which is poisonous and some people can react badly to. It will be advertised as henna tatoos, but infact henna is NEVER black, real henna is only ever brown and so they add chemicals which are poisonous to make it black. I didn't know this until I had it done and came out in blisters.
We booked a last minute deal and this was our allocated hotel. We read the reviews b4 we left on this site and had mixed feelings due to some of the comments left !!! We had a fantastic time in Ipsos and totally loved the place and yes the hotel was very noisy (especially in room 1 where we stayed above the dj box) however had a fantastic view over the beach accross the road. All the staff are lovely and may well book different accomodation next time but didnt really put us off enough if that was all that was available again. Definately a lovely part of corfu - preffered it to Dassia and Corfu town when we visited there and no hassle from the restaurants in the evenings to make you come and eat in their restaurants!!!!!! We needed a break and apart from pretty loud music we acheived that........
I have just got back from a weeks holiday in Ipsos and stayed at the Borghese Pension. It was brilliant. I am so tired at the mo because have been travelling through the night but I can't sleep because I'm suffering from post-holiday blues. I am so sad to be back in cloudy England. The apartments were great for what my friend and I wanted, not luxury but clean and safe, in a great location and with lovely views of the bay. The brothers (inc. George) certainly made the holiday for me, especially one in particular (Alex!). They were really friendly and made the atmosphere in the bar (which is without a doubt the best bar in Ipsos) that extra bit special. I loved it and miss it already.
I found my stay enjoyable. The accomodation was basic, which is usually the case in Corfu. I felt the family was great with the holiday makers and they was always up for a laugh. Overall I felt it was a decent holiday, however not the best I have been on. I miss Dirty Nellies, I had many a good night in there!!!!
Excellent place - all staff extremely friendly, Georgio and Costas (and the dog) simply brilliant!
Rooms were very clean and the location was excellent. Would definately go again.the hotel was great and Rena was not like your aunt she was great and u dont have to be old for her to like you i was 14 and me n her got on like sisters .
We stayed in the hotel for a week and it was the best holiday we have had it was clean and the staff were very hard working and the family made you feel welcome .the only ones who do not like it are the ones who want a wild holiday, than you very much for being there for us during our stay
Was a basic but clean room (only for sleeping and washing- what more do you need) with outstanding view of the bay of Ipsos and Albania across the water. Reenie, George and Costas were very friendly and helpful and the Passoa bar downstairs had good facilities such as a cinema showing new films and also main sports events and had a nice relaxed atmosphere. Goofy the dog, very cute with his red neck scarf. Good location at quieter end of strip, with sea ten yards from front door. Wouldn't think twice about booking here again, had a brilliant stay.
We have just arrived back from a weeks holiday in corfu. We stayed at the Borghese Pension. The accomodation was basic but clean. The owner and her sons where all very nice and helpfull. We all had a great time especially the night of the final
game of Euro 2004 it was unforgetable.
I stayed at Borghese Pension in June 2002, I LOVED IT!! Reene was so nice and the place was lovely!!! Cheers Ipsos had the time of my life xx
we had the best holiday .and the family were great people who treated us brilliant .we will be back next year
I stayed at the Borghese for a week this August, what a surpise I got!! Having been to Corfu loads I knew the rooms would be basic but they sure as hell weren't dirty- Renna (reenie) cleaned every other day and she told me her Polish cleaners had dunna runna leaving her to work non stop, poor lady. Anyway, at the far end of the strip away from all the noise the Borghese bar is blissed out and had a great atmosphere. It was a place to lay our heads after a long day exploring the amazing mountains, or partying like animals along Ipsos' disco mile. Libra let you use any of the pools nearby and the rep Andy helped us loads with trips to Aqualand (amazin) and the like. Big up to Krazy Kostas (Kostas A Fortune) and big bro George. Keep my coffee hot- we're coming back! Ciao!
I agree with the other comments on this page, this place certainly isn't the best. Before we could even check into our rooms we were given a lecture by Reenie about "boys" and what we could and couldn't get up to! I thought the Greeks were supposed to be laid back??? The rooms appeared ok, until you had been staying for a few days. They were only cleaned once and the towels and bed linen weren't changed at all! Lovely! As for the bins, I won't even go there ..................... The only saving grace were Costa and George who were lovely and very friendly!
it's true... the apartments weren't the greatest we've stayed in, but all the facilities i.e "24 hour" bar, large screens showing sports and the latest flicks, pool table, internet, food, proximity 2 the beach (although the sea was minging as has already been noted) and the staff were lovely. renna (aka reenie) was quite sweet, but yes i agree with the reference 2 her schizophrenia! costa is a star, george is a sweetie, and yes alex is a damn fine young specimen (although also damn finely attached to a pretty brunette) o well, much enjoyed our stay there, and enjoyed the reproving look i got from renna from arriving back at the apt at 9am! have fun (just take your own bedsheets) x
These apartments were the crappest ive ever stayed in in my whole life!!!!!!!!! They were dirty and had a minging beach and reenie the owner terrified me so much (esp after the walk of shame through the bar at 8am in last nights clothes) If your old reenie will love you but if youve still got a few years left be prepared. its like going to stay with you great aunt or something!!! One night she told me to turn my music down and the next day she said it was to quiet. Talk about split personality! Any Costa we love you. Your wicked and so is your boat. George we love you too and alex your just damm sexy!!!!!!!
