I stayed for a week at the Kosmas in June, with my girlfriend and our young son. We saw the brochure prior to booking and it looked like the ideal place for us. The room was extremely clean, and although it was up a flight of stairs the views inland were absolutley superb. I had never been to Greece before and had such a great time I've already booked for the Kosmas next year.
The family who run Kosmas are some of the friendliest people you will meet. They put on a barbeque and a greek night, which we went to both of and had a right laugh. Even the rep Andy joined in the fun at the barbeque, singing karaoke and joining in the games. I disagree with John Webb's comments about Andy- he was an amicable young man, and when we hired a jeep from him he even went to the trouble of planning us a route to see some of the most beautiful parts of the island, like Pelekas and Peroulades. These places are beautiful and well worth a visit- Roda is very flat and there is so much more to Corfu than an English Breakfast. As for the trips we went on- the boat barbeque was fun but the food was limited, and because we booked with Libra we went for free to Corfu town, where Jane and I spent far too much!! The shops are unlike anything in the UK and it was a much better experience than shopping for souvenirs in Roda.
Overall I had an excellent holiday in Corfu and would recommend it to anyone.
I stayed at the Borghese for a week this August, what a surpise I got!! Having been to Corfu loads I knew the rooms would be basic but they sure as hell weren't dirty- Renna (reenie) cleaned every other day and she told me her Polish cleaners had dunna runna leaving her to work non stop, poor lady. Anyway, at the far end of the strip away from all the noise the Borghese bar is blissed out and had a great atmosphere. It was a place to lay our heads after a long day exploring the amazing mountains, or partying like animals along Ipsos' disco mile. Libra let you use any of the pools nearby and the rep Andy helped us loads with trips to Aqualand (amazin) and the like. Big up to Krazy Kostas (Kostas A Fortune) and big bro George. Keep my coffee hot- we're coming back! Ciao!
Hey Maggie - i just wanted to add my own testimonial. I used to work in Roda and Maggie's was the one restaurant people would ask me about, week in, week out. How on earth can she be criticised for givein the holidaying Great British Public what it wants? I ate there regularly and enjoyed every last morsel of the fabulous minute-steak sandwiches, Double decker burgers and the Scottish breakfast... well what can I say? Maggie home-makes her own square sausage which is out of this world. Her breakfasts are better than my mothers (and if she reads this I'll get a thick ear).
I have to add that guests who visit Corfu and choose to add potentially damaging comments to this website ought to think before they act. It is usually wonderful helping guests to enjoy their stay on the island but to read such slanderous comments (mhich are mis-spelled and grammatically incorrect most of the time) is frustrating and almost heart breaking. I would just love to see less grumbling about minor affairs and a lot more positivity. Thank you Maggie for looking after us all in Roda and I'll be back to see you soon.
