Thank You Nicos,Rula and lads for a great holiday can't wait to return.
Love Irene and Louise x x
My family (8 of us parents, sister/husband, kids & friend)stayed at the Primavera Hotel for two weeks.
(16 Aug - 31Aug 2004) we had four rooms and viewed several other guests rooms as well just to see if they were any better than ours!
Lets start with first impressions which I must add have been aired to us by other guests as well!
The hotel 'inside' looks like something that has been stuck in a time warp, it is oppresive, dark and very unwelcoming. The breakfast area is in a seventies decor, with shoddy furniture and an univiting continental breakfast. The coffee and orange juice provided for breakfast are disgusting, yet when you pay for one during the day from the pool bar you get the proper stuff! The resident ginger 1/2 blind cat found a nice place to rest underneath the breakfast servery area!
The Rooms:
One small built in wardrobe which smelt of damp, for the first few days we could not use it until our unhelpful Thomas Cook rep provided a can of air freshner.
The shower was broken, as a result had to be held by hand and wrapped around the taps after use.
The view from my room was not much better 'a view of a cactus'!
When I viewed two other rooms that our family was staying in my room (156 in the basement)did not seem so bad! Two of the rooms number 159 and 160 in the basement have what can only be described as trifids growing on the balconies, with a bit of a view peeping through of the main road and a hedge! No sunlight reached into these rooms at all, they were too were oppresive, dark, miserable and unaccepatable! The shower in 159 had metal peeling from the shower hose which we reported to the rep saying my nephew could cut his hand - by the time the rep moved them he has cut his finger! The family members in 160 subsequently got relocated to the first floor the same day and were thankful for small mercies! the members in 160 got moved a few days later.
We were informed that the air conditioning was part of the package when we got there that is not the case - they wanted to charge 45.00 euros a week! after strong complaints to our rep we had it provided free of charge for all of us, thankfully I had the booking confirmations with me.
Noise Levels:
The walls are fairly thin and some guests compalined they could hear people going to toilet in the rooms beside them as well as conversations.
Every evening and every morning starts the banging of the doors routine (You wont need an alarm clock in this hotel)
For those nearer the road the dawn chorus and midnight chorus come to think of it! of scooters up and down the road is enough to send you to the funny farm!
Hotel Guests:
Several other guests had made comments like " I burst into tears when I opened the door" " I had a better view in my garden in England" "This place is a hovel"
Most guests on a positive note were friendly, which was one compensation.
Check Out Rooms:
They are provided upon request at 30.00 euros as many flights dont leave till the early hours. The check out rooms soon got a nickname by most guests as 'the dungeon' If you think the hotel room is bad wait till you see what is offered for you last memorable night! I viewed the rooms of other guests - No balcony, graffiti on the wall, showers broken, small window with mesh on the inside - view out of window a mud bank as its in the basement, on the mud bank is wires/pipes/rubbish. Fortunatley when it came time for us to leave the hotel was not as busy and we were allowed to keep our original rooms.
The Pool Area:
The pool itself was nice, a good size with a deep and shallow end for kids. Chlorine was thrown into the pool so at least it was being looked after. The pool maintenence access point is DANGEROUS as it is left open and goes down under the pool. It is located to the side of the pool and has a lot of steps down (A bit like going down a pub celler from the road in England)
The pool itself was only lit up at night on two occasions when entertainment was being provided (Not free) such as the Greek Dancing and quiz night which was cancelled both times. There are lights around the grass that are on all the time at night.
Sunbeds whilst dated are comfortable and the pool area was never really crowded. You did not have to get up at an unearthly hour to reserve a sunbed!
The facilites provided are again dated, the pool table was held up by bits of rubble to try and level it I pressume and is not free. The table tennis table was okay but the bats are worn out (no rubber on them), we bought some new ones across the road.
The pool bar is good, you can get snacks such as hot dogs, burgers, chips, toasted sandwiches etc. The drinks and ice creams are good too.
There are signs up as in most of the hotels not to bring food or drink from anywhere else to the pool area as they want you to pay thier double prices.
The Outside of the Hotel:
First impressions look good, it looks lovely on the outside and the pool area at the rear looks spacious. (only about 3 rooms have pool view)The gardens are well watered green and not burnt out.
Overall
The place is fairly clean with maids working hard every day, Because it is dated you feel like it is dirty but it is not. We made the best of what we could as we were there for two weeks, the beach is a little bit of a walk away and all beaches seemed to be shingle not sandy. Nikos the owner was friendly to a point and Rula certainly rules the roost, I am sure she is friendly but I had no liasons with her and she didnt attempt any with me.
Dassia is a very quiet resort and one of the best resturants we found to eat in was Valentino's next door, I paid for breakfast there everyday. Mister Giros across the road was aslo good for fast food and the people running this were very friendly, informative, and served large portions.
If you want a really good holiday which is full of very friendly people then go to the Primavera Hotel, you will be welcomed by the most lovely family, Nicos, Rula and their lovely sons. It was the first holiday i have been on with my children and they loved it. The Greek night and BBQ was really good fun, and the people are just so friendly. I would recommend this hotel as a must. The pool is lovely and you have to try the alcoholic slush puppies oh yea and Nicos wine! Thank you Nicos and Rula for a great holiday and we will definately be back next year. You are great people and we will never forget you. Love Michelle and the children xx
I returned from Dassia on the 21st August. Unfortunately it was initially a very daunting trip because I had to take my 7yr old son on my own because his dad (my husband) had to work.
It turned out to be a fantastic 2 week holiday - this was mainly due to the friendliness of the Properietor, Nikos and his wife, Rula. They were such nice people. I cannot fault the hotel in any way shape or form. It was so clean. They even had a cleaner who worked so hard yet found the time to be so nice to the guests.
Brilliant - I wouldn't hesitate in returning.
Cannot fault the Primavera!!! It is a very clean and well presented hotel, and the staff are great! Nichos even spoke in welsh to us despite broken english!! He made us feel very welcome and made every effort to make our stay enjoyable. My partner and myself stayed by the poolside most of the holiday, or more to the point in the pool as the weather was so hot. (Keep your eye out and you see nichos in the water too, beware though, hes a champion bomb diver!)
You are within walking distance to everything, the resturants, shops, supermarket, the main beach, which has some cracking watersports and day trips are a plenty.
As the Primavera is situated at the top of the main road you dont miss out any shops and resturants when you stroll down the main road! which coming from a shopaholic is handy! We wanted a relaxed holiday and that is exactly what we got, total value for money!
THANKYOU NICHOS (probably see you next year).
The Hotel is very clean, friendly and a very good base to stay at, the staff are second to none, Rula and Nikos ( the owners)are fantastic people and could not do more for you. This Hotel offers very good value for money,It`s not 5 star and they don't charge 5 star prices, the restaurants in the area are great, try Valentinos for Greek food or if your fussy try Great Shakes English Bar (where all food is imported from England)Try booking "flight only" and get a room direct from the owners!!!
We have stayed there 5 times now and are planning our next trip. If you go there, be sure to get out and about, theres plenty to do and plenty to see. Hire a car and travel around the Island, Corfu at night is very good for all the family.P.S Make sure you try Nikos's famous Farmers Wine!!!
We thought the primavera hotel was a fantastic place. It was clean and the people were brilliant. It was only 10 mins away from the long beaches and just a short 2 minute walk to the shops, bars and restaurants. There were plenty of things to do and we would advise going for 2 weeks as one is not enough! There are watersports, trips to albania and the other islands around. Albania is a must as it is very scenic and like paradise. Nikos and Rula are fantastic hotel hosts.

Nikos and Rula and staff really make the Primavera a friendly and enjoyable place to stay. Everyone was so helpful and cheerful! We came back from a two-week stay there. The rooms were cleaned every day which was fantastic. The air conditioning was a must for us in the second week where temperatures soared. It's close to main road, but set back a bit which makes it feel really private. It's only a short walk to some great restaurants, shops and the beach. If you want to get a taxi to other resorts in the area, Nikos et al are only too happy to call for you.
Just returned from the Primavera hotel in Dassia yesterday, excellant holiday Nikos and his family were fantastic and very friendly, we met lots of great people and had a great time at the greek night the barbeque was out of this world as was nikos,s wine. The rooms are cleaned every day and all of the staff were very friendly. H ope to return in September.
Hotel represents good value for money (agree with earlier testimonial if you want 5 star then you'll pay for it) The hotel was really clean, faclilities good and best of all the staff were really friendly - Nikos the manager is a real character and always good for a laugh. Try the legendary Farmers Wine (Red 1999) at the hotel it's excellent. Dassia was too quiet for our liking with not much going on - for a more entertaining evening get a taxi to Gouvia for around 8 euros where theres far more bars and restaraunts. P.S. If your going to Dassia in June pack a rain mac!
Just got back from corfu today!!!
Ran Sandhu must have had upset ALL the staff because we had a GREAT TIME with the staff and Nikos ("the boss") and Rula ("the real BOSS")
are very nice people.
The rooms are basic but are cleaned on a daily basis and we did not need air con and we did not go all that way to sit and watch TV!
The hotel was a great base to see all of the sights and the pool was quite deep for a hotel pool, this was also very clean.
If you want 5 star hotel then you should look at paying more money, but if you want good value for money you cant go to wrong with NIKOS
This hotel was a let down, it was no way near what we had anticipated, I would never advise anybody to stay there not even if it was a last resort. The managment are rude, the beds were damp, breakfast was very poor, the showers were disgusting, the pool is small unhygienic and there were ants all over our balcony and bathroom which had no ventilation.
