I have just returned from a weeks stay at Villa Mary, the accomodation is spotless (cleaned every day incl sun) and of quite a high standard and our apartment had a great balcony and fantastic views over the pool and the sea. The pool bar wasn't open for some reason but this wasn't too bad as the nearest supermarket is only about 50m away. The resort was great and there are some excellent restaurants, Sebastians, Zefyros and Seabreeze were all great. The accomodation is in a very quiet location, the only negative is "The Hill". My Family are young and reasonably fit but be prepared because on hot days (of which there are many!) the climb back up from the resort to Villa Mary is a killer, in fact the trip down can be dangerous too and a pack of plasters for little ones knees is a must!(the road surface is steep, worn and slippery)
We are desparate for a holiday where we can sleep at night ( ie quiet accomodation) but where some activity for my 2 teenage daughters( ie in the resort). Have we chosen right in the villa mary?
We are staying at the Maria Studios on the beach in Agios Gorgios. Apparently, we can use the pool at Villa Mary which is up the hill? I cant find anything about these studios apart from a tiny photo in the Manos brochure and a picture of the round pool at Villa Mary, not very helpful! Has anybody stayed in these studios on the beach. We are looking forward to rolling off the verandah onto the beach in the mornings! (I have always wanted to do that!) We are going the first two weeks in September and its our first visit to Corfu, we normally go to Crete.
We stayed at Villa Mary in September 2004 in a two bedroom apartment, which had a pool view and a fantastic panoramic view of the bay (we saw some really nice sunsets from the balcony). The swimming pool at the apartments was lovely and we sometimes got it all to ourselves. There is a steep hill you have to climb to get to the apartments, but you get used to it after a few days. The apartments are basic but very clean, they are cleaned every day. The resort is nice and has very good restaurants which are very reasonably priced. We would definitely stay at these apartments and resort again.
We returned from a week at the Villa Mary this week and is on my list for a return visit. The apartments are basic but cleaned every day. We had a room at the back of the apartments which overlooked the pool and the bay which is everything it looks in the brochure. However, there are rooms to the side which appeared a bit dark and no view to speak of. The approach to the rooms down a steep hill is an art with the suitcase!
The pool bar is run by a very hospitable lady called Magda and her daughter Anna, great farewell party Saturday night as it was the end of the season for her!
There are a few steep hills to descend into the town but after a couple of days the muscles start to adjust. Lots of good Restaurants to choose from.
We were lucky to have a good group of people staying at the same time, (hello to anyone there last week!) which made for a really peaceful holiday.
A return visit is certain for me.
I have seen the picture in this years and next years brochures, and this place looks fantastic, despite beeing at the top af a really steep hill. I really fancy going thier next year, if anyone has any info about this place, please e-mail me at superbabe2904@yahoo.co.uk
Hello
We have seen the Villa Mary in the Manos Brochure however we have not been able to find any details relating to it for 2005, maybe a bit early yet.
We would like to stay up/on the hill for two weeks are there any other apartments that are up there that we could consider?
Nick
thinking of staying at these apartments next year. any info would be appreciated!
