We stayed for a week commencing 8th Aug. The view from the top floor
apartments across the bay is lovely. The apartments themselves are very
spacious. The provision of the fridge freezer kettle and toaster are
useful. The things that let down the apartments is that fact that it
really is noisey at night. The music and stuff you can cope with, your
own holiday after all. It's the constant traffic noise that will get to
you. (people tooting their horns all night) Ear plugs are a must. The
cafe, snack bar downstairs is poorly staffed during the day (when we
went there was no one there so went elsewhere for brekafast) and the
food at lunchtime was uninspiring. Better in the evening. The people in
the shop could be friendlier too.
Simple rule is don't book through your rep but go into the resort. We
booked with the travel shop opposite Dinos in Sidari, and went on the
boat trip. Be aware of the transfer times. We were told 45 mins on the
coach, 40 mins by boat and four hours in the town. Coach transfer an
hour....boat an hour and a half. The town itself was nice but not
enough time to see it!
I love the Greek Islands but I have to say this is my least favourite
so far! There is no hiding the fact that Sidari is a resort for
tourists. (We chose it to keep our son entertained which it did) The
streets are narrow and choked with traffic. The food is average at best
but reasonably priced. The people aren't that friendly. The thing we
found most shocking were the tacky gift shops stocky hardcore porn
video's and DVD's. I have to say that is the first time I have seen
this. Still at least the sun shone. If you want a peaceful hol go
elsewhere.
This was the best place we ate during the week here. First time we went
there it was great, 2nd time not as good. Sit out the back and over
look the beach. Lovely view. The dancing was entertaining and the food
was good. Staff were friendly.
First time we have used Manos as we usually use Kosmar (much better in my opinon but they would have charged us an adult rate for our teenager) Flight was delayed both ways but somehow we expected that. When we arrived in Corfu we were expecting to be met by the normal gaggle of manos reps. Not so. We were pointed to the one girl who was very flusterd but efficent. I was extremley concerned about the transfer stories on here. We were lucky as we were the only people going to Sidari so we were put in a taxi. The in resort however was hopeless. Went to the welcome meeting and when we said we weren't sure we were gonna do her excusions we didn't see her again. Don't buy your trips from your rep. You can save 15 euros by booking a trip to aqualand in the resort!
One for the kids and the slightly bigger kids! An excellent day out!
