STILL 34 EUROS, BUT EXCELLENT VALUE. PAXOS WAS A BEAUTIFUL ISLAND, LOTS OF SCENERY, AND A LOVELY VILLAGE WHICH HAD LOTS OF SHOPS, AND A MARKET. VERY NICE RESTAURANTS, TAVERNAS, CAFE'S ETC, WHICH ALL HAD VERY GOOD SERVICE. FROM PAXOS TO PARGA VIA ANTIPAXOS WAS VERY GOOD FOR THE SCENERY AND THE SHORT SWIM STOP. PARGA WAS ALSO A VERY TYPICAL GREEK VILLAGE/TOWN WITH AGAIN PLENTY TO SEE AND DO. AGAIN THE TAVERNA'S ETC GAVE GOOD VALUE AND EXCELLENT SERVICE. THE RETURN TRIP TO CORFU WAS SOMEWHAT CHOPPY AND WINDY BUT THAT CAN BE EXPECTED IN THE IONIAN SEA. I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT THE TRIP TO BE SPLIT IN TO TWO TRIPS, TO PAXOS/ANTIPAXOS AND PARGA TO ALLOW MORE TIME TO EXPLORE. I BELIEVE THIS USE TO BE THE CASE. A VERY MUCH ENJOYED EXCURSION, AND OF GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY. SERVICE ON THE BOAT WAS EXCELLENT.
WE STAYED AT THE HOTEL ALEKA IN GOUVIA/KONTOKALI. WELL RECOMMENDED FOR ANYONE WISHING FOR A QUIET RETREAT, BUT VERY CLOSE TO ALL AMENITIES IN GOUVIA AND KONTOKALI, (SHOPS, TAVERNAS, RESTAURANTS AND BEACHES). CORFU IS ONLY 8-9KM AWAY AND ONLY 0.85c ON THE BUS, A NUMBER 7 FROM DASSIA TO CORFU (ABOUT 15 - 25 MINS). THE HOTEL AND ITS OWNERS ARE ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC (FAMILY RUN), AND THEY CANNOT DO ENOUGH FOR YOU. THE WEATHER OBVIOUSLY IS VERY HOT, WE AVERAGED BETWEEN 37 - 45C, DID NOT SEE ANY CLOUDS JUST BLUE SKIES, THE PROOF IS IN THE TAN. WELL RECOMMENDED ON ALL ACCOUNTS. GOING AGAIN NEXT YEAR. OUR HOLIDAY WAS 30/6 TO 14/7 (2003). WISH I WAS STILL THERE.
SUNDAY 6TH JULY 2003. WE ALL (12) HAD A GREAT DAY AT AQUALAND, THE COACH TRIP FROM GOUVIA/KONTOKALI TOOK ABOUT 30 MINUTES THROUGH SOME VERY SCENIC COUNTRYSIDE OVER THE HILLS. PLENTY TO DO IN THE PARK WITH ALL THE RIDES SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE (SOME HAIR RAISING BUT FUN). THE AMENITIES (RESTAURANTS, SHOPS ETC) WERE VERY GOOD WITH VERY GOOD SERVICE. WELL RECOMMENDED AND GOOD VALUE AT 30 EUROS, U12 - 17 EUROS AND U4 ARE FREE. THIS WAS THROUGH GOLDEN SUN HOLIDAYS.
A well looked after family run hotel. Run by Spiros, his wife Aleka, and his family. Very friendly people who cannot do enough for you. The hotel is set amongst citrus fruit trees, consisting of four blocks totalling 28 rooms. A very large clean and well maintained pool and pool bar, serving drinks, food, etc from 10am until the last person leaves. Close to Kontokali (15 mins walk) and Gouvia (25 mins walk). Corfu is 7 miles away (Bus fare 85c). Well recommended, some of our group have now been twice, and we are all going again next year.
