okayy you lucky lovers of st. george . I have been there twice now and find it excellent too. hope to get there in the first week in august again.
I have always stayed s/c, but wanna try this hotel , I have a number for yu all to try, its the car hire guy, not the young smooth one but oldr wiser one... tell him john the scorpian sent you he will give you very good price!!! good luck
this is how the number shows on his buisnees card , you'll have to work out what to dial::
06620-51677, happy days!!!!!!!!
I go again with my family in August, my 3rd time, the place is well out of the way of any where , yet only 20 min by car to kavos, it has everything you need, apart from a cash machine, the nearest is about 12 miles away. But maybe that's changed now. Don't let that put you off just go prepared, travellers chex and euros are no problem. You can chill, you can party, very family friendly. Corfu's best kept secret, but not for long me thinx... oh and best beaches on the Island.. Happy days!!!!!
just got back from a week at the palm beach ......
oh dear
i think i have placed a few messages on here regarding st.georges south and i cannot fault the resort as a whole but the palm beach hotel took the edge off a very excellent holiday.
for a place that advertises itself on medhotels.com ass "4 1/2 star a class superior" i felt very let down and cheated.
i have stayed in various hotels of varying star ratings around the world, and this hotelin my opinion is "3star b&b & em."
the place is in an excellent location but let down by staff who do not wish to work in tourism (i assume). some are ignorant, some are arrogant and most are very dissmisive. now don't get me wrong,i am fully aware of "corfu time and corfu life" but when you expect 4 1/2 star "a" class superior and you go to the restaraunt where they don't understand the meaning of "silver service" , you know something is wrong.
a comment below about the food is wrong , it is canteen style buffet and on 2 evenings i couldn't even fetch a plate .. me and my family had to eat out out at one of the many excellent restraunts in the centre
the gardens are spa**e but that is due to the fact that the hotel is new, ( 2 seasons). so that can be forgiven , the pool is excellent but no life guard and is 0.95 mtrs at the shallow end, which can be a peril for smaller kids.
so, if your going here, although the grounds are good , please think again if you are going for good service and food. for you will do better going s/c and using the restraunts in the centre , all offer better service and food. you would also save money on the overall cost off the holiday and so would i, and i have 4 mouths to feed! i went in the busiest week and no meal was more than 6 euros, i have been there in quieter periods and the price drops by maybe 2 euros.
finally there is a big ampitheatre which looks gran, beautiful even, but it was only used once to put on a greek dance night, excellent entertainment for just one night of the holiday, waste of space, unfortunately...
ok, I got back from corfu on 12 august and while there my family went twice to Aqua land!!
Excellent, ,the place was heaving, Greek, Italian ,German< English , alll havin it large. All gettin on , babes and dudes everywhere. Excellent rides quick q's, bloody sorted.
Prices were fare 45 euros for 4 of us per day, but the youngest got in free, Hire a jeep and go on your own rather than book a trip. In peak season it cost me 50 euro per day for asuzuki jimmny from the local hire guy (george in st george south) , it would of cost 85 from my hotel ( palm beach ) . ENJOY.
TOP BEACHES IN ST GEORGES SOUTH, i BEEN ALL OVER CORFU AND TO FIND BEACHES LIKE THESE YOU WOULD BE SEARCHING far and wide. Iknow some of the most beautiful in corfu , but they are very secluded, but for resort beaches these are number 1
