Richard Shakespeare - please let us know how your holiday goes. We've just booked for the Katia Beach in July. Us and the kids (9 & 15). Any info would be great?!
Anyone going to the Katia Beach apartments before us (14th July) please let me know how far they are from the town centre, and is it walkable. Also just how quiet is it? Please tell me there is life nearby! We have a 15 and 9 year old with us.
Hi all,
I can't wait to hear from anyone who is just back from the Katia Beach this year. I'm concerned about the walk - is it too far to expect a nine year old to go every evening? How much is it in a taxi to and from the town? I've read so much about Illusions Bar - will they let us in with the kids (9 & 15)? Lastley, do the rooms have fans or air-con, or can you hire fans at the Apts + how much? Thanks a lot
Hey Gemma, We're going to Kassipoi for the 1st time on 14th July staying at the Katia Beach Apts. I believe they're not far from u. I think we may be a bit older than you (family of 4, 2 kids 15 & 9) but if you want to meet - no problem! If not, have a great holiday.
Will they let us into Illusions with the kids (ages 9 & 15)?
We're just back from Kassiopi last night, 28th July 2003. First time there and were blown away - ITS FANTASTIC. We liked it so much we have rexerved an apartment at the Frosini Gardens for next year. We didn't stay there this year but it looks so good we're going! Perfect location, lovely pool, perfect for kids (ours will be 16 & 10 next year). The owner, Spiros, let us in to see an apartment - very nice. Be warned, if you want to go next year, Spiros told us he's going private after this summer so speak to him for next year.
We're back! After our first visit to Kassipoi and we've booked for next year!! It was outstanding. Katia beach is fine. Very basic but has a nice pool. There is no charge for the sunloungers as was previously thought. The walk can be a bit of a drag but if you're lying by the pool or beach most of the time there is no harm in a little exercise. The temperature was in the 40's almost every day but we coped! Suggest you hire fans the first day. 2 euros per day per fan but well worth it. We did hear the campsite occassionally but not so that it disturbed us. There are nicer apartments in Kassiopi but you'd be hard pushed to find a nicer pool/area. Plus I think they are reasonably priced. Because there are not many rooms you get to know everyone. We met some really nice people and had some great nights in the bar at night. It would certainly be no hardship to return to Katia Beach
We're just back from our first Greek holiday in Kassiopi and we've spoken to Costas at the Travel Corner in Kassiopi and he's holding an apartment for next year for us! Have absolutely nothing bad to say about the place. The weather, food, bars, people, excursions, shops everything - all great. The Greeks are the nicest people we've met. Enjoy........................
Norma, we're just back from Kassiopi. We've got 2 daughters aged 15 and 9. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants. You choose how loud or quiet you want! As far as safety is concerned we had absolutely no problems at all. My 15 year old went out with a few other kids she met at the apartments and she felt perfectly safe. Although there is no harm in being wary as you know. The people are extremely helful and very child friendly. I'm sure you'll enjoy yourselves.
We also only saw our rep at the welcome meeting. Obviously interested when there is commission to be made. The guy who was on our airport transfer coach fell asleep the whole journey. We had to wake him up when the driver stopped for the first drop-off. It was our first visit to Greece and would have liked to have ben told SOMETHING about where we were! We also went to the Reps night out - DON'T DO IT - IT'S DREADFUL. The worst organised night out of my life!! Airtours - give yourselves a shake.
We went to Kassiopi for the first time this year and loved it! Stayed at Katia beach which is round the corner from Michaelangello. The shop is well stocked and the staff are lovel, they can't do enough for you. Plenty to do in Kassiopi. By day, hire a car (from Cosmic Travel) and explore the island, visit Aqualand or Corfu town, take one of the boat trips from the harbour, drive to Paleocastritsa and take a boat trip in the caves, go to Sandy Beach. LOADS. By night, take the boat trip to Corfu town, visit one of the MANY EXCELLENT restaurants in Kassiopi, have a couple of drinks in every bar and I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time.
Sorry, I don't agree with the last comment! This is the only chinese restaurant in Kassiopi as far as we know. It could really do with some competition. Maybe that would speed up the service ( 15 minutes after our meal arrived, the noodles arrived), make the food nicer AND make the portions a bit bigger. Not value for money in my book!
Steve and Janet Hughes. We went to Kassiopi last year for the first time with our 9 and 15 year olds. As soon as we came back we booked again for this year! We'll be there from 12th July - you'll love it. The people are very friendly and, as all the other inserpts on this page say, it's a resort for everyone.
We went back to Kassiopi this year just like we said, and loved it just as much as last year if not more! The apartments are perfect. Perfect location, perfect pool, perfect service. So perfect we've booked again for yet another year. Like I mentioned earlier, I don't think these apartments are in any brochures any more but I will be pleased to pass on contact details if anyone wants them.
