We are coming to the louisa in september, 2006, we have never been to Corfu before, don't know what to expect, always been to Spain and majorca. How far from Sidari are the apts? Do we have to bring our own towels? Is the weather good in September? Which excursions would you recommend especially island hopping can you go to Zante from Corfu?

Hi, we have just returned from the Louisa apartments in Sidari, and had a fantastic time here. Our first time in Corfu and we all loved it always been to Spain before.
The Greek people are wonderful and very friendly and always have a smile for you even in the shops and supermarkets, which you dont get in Spain.

Christa comes running to meet you from the bus, which we have never experienced before, which was lovely and takes you up to your apartment, no lifts, we were on second floor.

The food is very nice in the Louisa snack bar, very tasty and reasonable, beer good also.

Lovely places to eat l. mythos (nxt to alkion hotel)
    2. Damias yard (lovely beef stifado)
    3. Fagins (fish to die for)
    4. Two brothers (gammon and meze lovely)

More lovely places to eat, but once we found Mythos taverna, we kept going back their food is superb and Spirios and Nikos are so lovely, they make you feel so welcome.

Already looking at brochure for nxt year, my husband loved it (considering he said he would never go to greece) said it was so relaxing.

Joanne - we're also hoping to book for nxt year - would go back to the Louisa, very basic but hey, who stays in their apartments all day on holiday.

We always eat out on holiday - i don't cook on holiday do that all year round at home - the greek food is to die for, lovely, my husband said he would never try it - but he has talked about nothing else since we came home.

Been looking for recipes on internet for stifado - going to give it a try in slow cooker.

We were on second floor at the back of the complex - was ok most of the pool view apartments seem to be small studios for 2 people - but would be very nice overlooking pool.

Don't have e-mail for louisa or i would request pool view apartment.

Back in work now - missing way of life already so relaxed, back to british stress now - looking forward to nxt year.

Greek way of life is so different to Spanish they are more laid back- nicer people completely, don't get me wrong i love Majorca but Corfu is so different, more friendly.  Go to Planet bar, meet Stefan and Stu, great welcome, my l9 year old son loved it there.  Stefan sat and watched Liverpool football with him and his dad one afternoon, great. We won music quiz 3 times during our stay.

Asteria - (Restaurants in Sidari)

Shirley J

We read about the Asteria on this website before coming to Corfu - and were looking forward to trying it - we stayed at the louisa Apts - but we were very dissappointed as the Asteria was closed - don't know if it has closed down or just closed for the season - we went on the 15th September - does anyone know?

Mythos - (Restaurants in Sidari)

Shirley J

We have just returned from Sidari, staying at the Louisa in Canal D'Amour - I had read about the mythos taverna on this internet site and couldn't remember where it was.

We eventually found it when we turned right instead of left by 3 little pigs then i remembered it was next door to the Alkion hotel.

We had lovely meals at Mythos especially greek meals, beef stifado and beef stamna.  Spiros was a wonderful host and his brothers, he tried to take my sons Liverpool shirt off his back, he is so funny.

I hope you won your football match on the sunday Spiros.  We are hoping to come back nxt year and will definately pay u a visit - it is such a friendly place and always busy.  Good value for money - lovely food well done lads - keep up the good work.

Damias Yard - (Restaurants in Sidari)

Shirley J

We had a lovely meal at Damias Yard - we stayed at Louisa apts just down the road - this was the first greek meal we had in Corfu.

My sister ordered the village sausage stew (can't remember the greek name) then changed her mind and ordered beef stifado but the waitress still brought her the original dish - she was not dissappointed it was lovely and spicy - beef stifado was lovely also.

My husband said he would never try greek dish but he thoroughly enjoyed it - my son had chicken and enjoyed it.

would certainly try here again - in fact are coming back next year so we shall give it a try again.

Tondoris Apartments - (Accommodation in Sidari)

Shirley J

Hi - We have just returned from Corfu - stayed at the Luisa apartments down the road.  We came to the Planet Bar every night of our stay to do the music quiz with Stu and Stefan.

Stefan - a nicer person you could not meet - made us welcome from the moment we walked in - we used to sit on the comfy seats in the "Tropicana Suite". We got very good on the quiz and won 3 nights running - Stu used to call us the headmistress's team ha ha!

Didn't realise the apartments were called tondoris apts - came across this on another site.

Have booked for next year to come to Sidari again - bit earlier this time maybe to escape bad storms - never seen storms like them.

Look forward to meeting you all again Stefan Stu and gang.  My son particularly loved this bar and good welcome from Stefan - Stefan even watched the Liverpool match with him and his dad one afternoon.

Keep up the good work folks - lookin forward to nxt year already.

We have booked again for next year now to the Louisa for 11 nights again.

We are going 2 weeks earlier next year, 31st August, 2007 hopefully to escape the storms.  We had rain for 3 days of our holiday but we went out on coach trips so it was ok.

Looking forward already to seeing everybody, especially Christa who was very helpful and the maid was lovely.

Nicholas Taverna - (Restaurants in Sidari)

Shirley J

We had a couple of breakfasts in Nicholas taverna during out stay in Sidari, they were very nice not keen on the mushrooms though, we were going to have evening meal but never did, found other places instead.

the staff were very helpful. we stayed at the Louisa apts just down the road and i'm sure the waiter was related to the owners of the Louisa because we saw him there a few times and he recognised us, he was really nice.

coming again nxt year to the louisa so will call to see you and have an evening meal with you.

Hi George

Thanks for your lovely photos and map of your taverna, only fault is I can't see the map very well to find out where you are.

How far away from the saxophone are you?  Are you along the same road or another road by the Alkion Hotel?   Many thanks Shirley

Hi:

does anyone have the e-mail address of the Lousia apartments, as we are coming here next friday 31st August and we would like to request a low floor apartment possibly overlooking the pool.

We stayed here last year and we were on the top floor at the back of the apartments, it would be nice to be at the front this year

Thanks Shirley

Hi,

Have returned from louisa apartments just over a week ago now, had a lovely holiday, our second year staying at these apartments.

Everywhere in Sidari was just the same as last year, same people working in the bars and tavernas, like time stood still. It was lovely to see all the same faces in the resort. Christa came to meet us, she recognized us from last year which was nice.

Even the maids were the same as last time.  One of the daughters had had another baby, lovely. Even Luna the dog was the same, she followed us everywhere we went and little pommy he was lovely.

Really missing Corfu, its people and most of all the food.
