Nikos - (Accommodation in Roda)

Helen R

We had a self catering studio and to say it is basic is an understatement! 2 very narrow beds, 1 bedside cabinet, a fridge, sink and a baby belling cooker thing!

The fridge was so noisy you couldn't have it on at night so a complete waste of time so that was unplugged, the cooker was so old & dirty that I covered it with a teatowel and used it as a 2nd bedside cabinet!!

The kettle turned itself on & off regardless if there was any water in it!! So that was unplugged!

The bathroom has a shower but no shower curtain so the bathroom gets flooded (very slippy) and then starts to flood the main room! (but handily you get a mop & bucket so you can soak it all up after!)

The towels weren't changed once while we were there and they were so thin they tore!

The bin where you place your toilet paper was emptied once! Not nice!

The front door was dodgy and didn't lock very well!

The noise from stray dogs outside the apartments was unbearable, we resorted to loo roll in the ears!

All in all not a good experience, loved the resort hated the accomadation!

Manos - (Tour Operators on Corfu)

Helen R  (04 October 2005)

We arrived at Corfu airport at 4.15 and contrary to the earlier Manchester flights passengers who had been waiting 1 1/2 hrs for their case ours were off quicky and we were on the coach by 5pm .... and thats where it went downhill!!

We sat on the bus for an hour, no information about what was going on, eventually a rep got on at 6pm and we left, she didn't say a word no info what so ever. we got to Kassioppi the rep got off and the coach stopped turned aroundand went back the way it came!! Still no-one said anything, it then went back to a property we had already passed dropped some guests there, sat for 20 mins waiting for another rep to get on! We then set off back to Kassioppi, this time we went in , the rep got off with the guests we sat in Kassioppi for another half an hour. The Rep then sent the coach to Roda ( where we were staying) without her, when we eventually got to Roda a rep met us there!! It took from the time the plane landed 3 3/4 hours to get to the accomadation. to get to Corfu from the UK was quicker!!

We also had problems with the room (see Nikos Appartments) and noise and we were told to buy earplugs by the Rep!! Very helpful!

Maggies Place - (Restaurants in Roda)

Helen R  (04 October 2005)

We ate at Maggies most mornings for breakfast, a big plate full that sets you up for the day, although I understand what people are saying about greek food all the greek restaurants were offering english breakfast too (but not as good as Maggies!) and whos heard of a greek breakfast??

Maggies food is delicious the fish & chips were recommended and are excellent. The service was great the lady who served in the restaurant was always smiling & Maggie took time out to speak to you when she wasn't running about like a headless chicken!

The guy behind the bar was funny and kept us amused expecially when the thunder & lightning was raging outside!

Yes its english food, its very good english food but surely if you are on holiday its up to you what you eat!

Does that mean when you are in the UK you must only eat English food and not our national dish of Chicken Tikka Massala!!

Well Done Maggie we thought the food & service was great!
