Me and my boyfriend have just come back from staying at the Christakis Hotel. We can't recommend these apartments enough.
Nicos, Giselle and the cleaner are the most helpful and cheerful people (along with all the locals). Nicos (the barman/hotel manager) works around the clock to make all the holiday makers happy - don't forget to go his BBQ on the Wednesday night, Nicos even does a bit of Greek dancing! :)
Giselle (Bar person/cook) works extremely hard behind the bar and the kitchen, we recommend her English Breakfast! We will be keeping in touch with Giselle as we got on really well with her.
The apartments are in a great location, less than 5 minutes from good supermarkets and restaurants and another 5 minutes onto the main bars, clubs and some more good restuarants. The pool was never crowded and a good sun trap! The rooms were also very clean and spacious, the best we've been to compared to other greek islands' accomodation.
If you have the opportunity to book for the Chritakis Hotel we would say 'go for it'!
Me and my boyfriend enjoyed the trip to Albania although quite a lot of people we spoke to didn't like it.
We booked through an agency in Sidari instead of the rep as it's cheaper and everyone gets on the same boat anyway (Ionian Cruises).
As we stayed in Sidari, we had to get up early to get a coach into Corfu Town, once there we took a 1 and a half hour boat journey. The passenger ferry was clean and sold refreshments on board.
Once we were in Albania were were offered a trip to the ruins of an ancient village for 18 Euros (lunch included), we would recommend you go on this as you see alot more of Albania this way (the guide is very good). We also had a look around the town of Sarande and there isn't much there but it was an eyeopener to see how other people live. There were children begging (this is what put people off) but not in their masses, just the same as anywhere like Morroco or other countries who are very poor.
We would recommend for you to go to Albania to see a very interesting way of life.
The food here was good we highly recommend the Gvitsi (I think that's how it's spelt!) Really tender lamb with nice flavour.
We also made a good friend with Spiros the waiter who took us round Sidari town after Greece won the semi final in Euro 2004 - now that was an experience!
