| We have just returned from a week at Aphrodite in Sept. The studios are at the top end of Paleo, so it is quite a walk to the harbour end. There is no pavement for most of the way so this would make it quite dangerous in the season and especially at night. The studios are very basic but clean. I would not attempt to produce a meal on the oven/hob but I don't go on holiday to cook. There are plenty of restaurants within easy reach. The studios do not have air con but you can hire a fan [noisy] and a key to the safe box for 15 euros per week. beds were changed and 2 towels provided, although hard they did the job. The fridge was noisy when trying to sleep and it did not freeze bottles of water. The pool was very clean and not at all busy. The only bus that passes through goes to Corfu town and nowhere else on the island. It fills up at the other end and doesn't stop at the top end. There is no public transport through Paleo to other parts of the island. | |

We loved everything about Aphroditi! Magda and Elizabeth are fabulous as are the appartments and the pool. It's at the end of paleo so a bit out of it but still excellent. This is the second time i've been and i'd quite happily go again tomorrow

The Aphroditi apartments are basic, but clean. Very clean. The pool area is well maintained with plenty of sun loungers and the people who own the place are very friendly and helpful. On the down side, the apartments are well out of the main resort (4 mile round trip) and the taxis are non existant and very, very expensive. Restaurant around the apartments are poor. Oasis, Spiros and Maltidas are very poor (all next to apartments). If you want good food visit Doukades or even Lapades. Would recommend hiring a scooter to get about and go to Lakones (5 mins) for views, Agios Gordias (25 mins) for then beach and Corfu town (20 mins) for the atmosphere and culture. Basically, Paleo is pretty, but limited in what you can do. Not a resort for those who want to be able to have a meal after 10.30pm (unless you head to the excellent Doukades) or want to be able to get around the island without having a long bus journey everywhere. I'm not being negative, just realistic. I love my holiday and will be back, but without transport, I would have went insane.
The mountains are beautiful. Have fun and explore.
![]() Vist Doukades for great food and a real Greek experiance.
![]() Visit the Monistary when the sun is setting for an unforgettable sun set. (Got to go right up the hill past the restaurant to enjoy it).
![]() Got to go up to Lakones to just appreciate the true beauty of Paleo. ![]()

Stayed at these studios in July and August 2005. It was one of the best holidays we have had in Greece. My daughter and her Fiancee holidayed with us also. They too enjoyed it and will probably put a comment on this web page. Elizabeth and Magda and their Husbands' Andonis and Stathis, and Aphrodite, Magda's daughter (whom the complex is named after) make you feel like one of their family when you arrive. The Studios and the facilities are cleaner than I have ever experienced abroad. they certainly work hard for your comfort. I hope I have made a friend of Elizabeth as she had some very valuable advice to give me, and when I eventually return there to live I would like to invite her for coffee and a chat.
This complex of 18 Studios/Apartments caters well for familes. As the Greek people love children you can be sure they will help you look out for them. There were several families with young children there during our stay and everyone we spoke to said they had had a wonderful time. The bar opens until the last person leaves but when it came to our turn we just had to let these people go to bed as they were up early the next day to start all over again.
There are several good places to eat within a few kilometers. Dukas (Pavlos) up the hill was magnificent. Bulis (the nearest) was also top quality, and Nereids, opposite the Beach Hotel toward Paleo was good. You have to wait a while, but it was well worth the wait when I came. They also have live Greek dancing each evening.
We also went across the road to the Taverna there but got disillusioned when they forced free drinks on us each evening (their own concotion), other than that it was fine. Oasis according to my daughter and Fiancee was reasonable, but having tried Spiros Taverna we were all thoroughly disgusted with the food and wouldnt go back there, yet some people seems to like it!
On the whole we had a brilliant time, we would certainly return their anytime.

Excellent place, all the staff are really helpful and it is a great atmosphere. I also recommend the Cactus Bar just down the road which is also great.
