Golden Sands Hotel

Accommodation in St George Sth

Athas F          8/10

Stayed here with my 3 children some years ago by accident, and it was a very lucky chance booking. The staff were very friendly to me (father) + 3 children (ages 7-12 at the time). We visited them the following year while bareboating just to see if George was working and he couldnt have made us more welcomed if we'd been royalty. We were treated like old visiting friends. Nearby is the beach, shingle, and little port with a few bars & restaurants (not always open). Very relaxed and very Greek atmosphere. Other hotels nearby also offer similar accomm, but didnt try them except to day visit. Bus on main road will take you to Corfu town - service varies during the day. Locals offered to transport us there on our last day rather than pay for a taxi.

We really enjoyed our holiday, great for the kids, good pool, sandy beach across the road, good selection of tavernas, boat trip was good around Corfu, Greek dancing at the hotel, free, every Friday night, the lovley Greek village well worth the walk, hotel bar a bit pricy, but lots of other bars to try, not too busy, just nice.

We have stayed at the Golden Sands over a few years. Yes by UK standards it it old fashioned but we have found it to be clean and comfortable. The staff have always gone out of their way to help and the pool area is wonderful. Napoleon's restaurant is brilliant, the old village is a good walk away through the olive groves and if you want a good honest no frills quiet holiday you can't beat this hotel. If you are looking for an activity hotel with lots of children's amusment Sidari would be a better choice.

My Boyfriend and I have just come back from Corfu and we stayed in The Golden Sands Hotel in a self catering studio and it was one of the best holidays we have had, it is right in the middle of everything and is only a short walk to the resturants, bars etc. The apartment was clean and the cleaners came in everyday to clean it. The snack bar was quite cheap and so was the bar. The 2 pools are lovely and it is a suntrap. We would definately go back again.

just arrived back form corfu 19 th may i thought the golden sands should be closed .it requires renovation and more .pool and bar ok
but bar prices to expensive.the linen my family were given was terrible they could do with buying some new.the staff espeically the english receptionist (tracey)was good. she was very helpfull .the resort was very quite and not suitable for families as there is nothing for children to do except for lots of swimming.(pool or beach)the restaurants were very good and reasonably priced (recommend village grill). if you go to golden sands hotel do your self a favour and go out for beakfast in the morning as you only get bread black hard boiled eggs and corn flakes and not forgetting the cake and coffee.no entertainment in hotel as printed in brochure .i could go on but would be here all day .these are only my views along with another 6 families but dont let this put you off.
but all in all i made my stay for my family enjoyable the best i could.

We stayed in this hotel in June 2002. A little old fashioned but lovely views from the balcony if your lucky enough to get one of the rooms at the front. Breakfast very basic but it is only continental and the swimming pool area is very nice. Reception staff very friendly and will do their best to help you with any querys or problems
