Mythos - (Restaurants in Sidari)

Kerrie H

Where do we start.... we tried this place out at the end of our first week - we returned five times in our last seven nights! What a brilliant restaurant. It's very difficult to find any faults as, in our view, there aren't any.

The brothers were hospitable, friendly, attentive, helpful, sexy and always happy to stop by for a chat or joke. They speak good English (had no problems understanding our Brummie tones) and were always charming. We felt like we'd known them for years and intend to stay in touch. (if you're reading this Spiros, the photos will shortly be on their way to you and your brothers...)

There was such a wide variety of food it was difficult to decide what to eat, but we personally recommend the Stifado, Chicken Souvlaki, Garlic prawns wrapped in bacon and Chilli Con Carne. If you fancy a snack, try the mammoth jacket potatoes. So big it's frightening.

You need a big appetite as the portions are huge.

It will be THE highlight of your stay in Sidari.

Thank you Spiros, George, Nikos and Mikey.

We will be back to see you.

Keep in touch

Before we start we want to make it clear we are not winging Anglos (read our comments on Mythos restaurant if you don't believe us...)

But Loxides was the worst place we have ever stayed at in Corfu, and I've been 14 times. We arrived to room 404 which hadn't been cleaned, a broken door lock which let in mosquitos, dirty bed sheets, dirty crockery in the dusty cupboards, filthy floor and a dirty toilet. Still, at least someone left us toilet rolls...

Our complaints were dealt with swiftly, but we felt for the rest of our fortnight's stay we were treated like s**t by Rochelle. There were no 'how are yous?', 'how's your holiday?' or any such pleasantries. On the other hand Yanni, Duncan and the barman were always pleasant and helpful.

We understand that this resort is popular with 'regulars' who return annually. Perhaps that is why we were treated as second-class citizens by Rochelle, who rather fancies herself as Peggy Mitchell. Suffice to say we will not be returning.

On the plus side, the pool was well maintained and very clean.

Three star class? As Jim Royle may say, My Ar*e

Blondys - (Bars in Sidari)

Kerrie H

Great company, friendly atmosphere and glad we got the chance to watch Big Brother everynight (see ya Saskia).

Thanks for everything and thanks for not employing those dreadful PRs that every bar on Sidari's main stretch insists on having.

Great PRs - friendly, but not pushy like others in the street.

Great cocktails at good prices, pleasant barstaff and good DJ.

Great chips, shame about the flies...

Room 404, oh dear. This is the short straw of all rooms.

It's on the ground floor and, from what I saw, the smallest of the lot.

Prepare yourself for the night-long glare of a bright light coming through the frosted window in your front door and the daily threat of being robbed. For some reason our cleaner insisted on leaving our toilet window wide, which can obviously have serious implications if you're on a day-long trip and someone decides to help themselves to your goods.

My job takes me to many places and of all the hotels I've ever stayed in, and in places far more basic than Corfu, I have to say Loxides is the worst of all. It was filthy.

As for Richelle, from my experience and from speaking to others she seems to care little for anyone under the age of 35. More so if you have the nerve to raise any issues with her. If you're of the just-grin-and-bear-it brigade then you should get on with her like a house of fire. But, sorry, I expect value-for-money and did not get it.

The rep Emma is even worse. You know you're in for an interesting holiday when she concludes her hugely underwhelming 'welcome' speech with "feel free to clap me now." After a muted response she snapped back,"no really I expect applause" (or words to that effect). It was actually disturbing.

She never once asked how anyone was and generally lacking in any enthusiasm or interest. Perhaps she was stiff miffed at her 'applause' moment.

I'm sorry, but when you pay good money for THREE STAR !!!!???? accommodation you expect much, much better and should not have to settle for poor standards. I only hope my comments are taken constructively and ensure the future visitors to Loxides enjoy better service, cleaner rooms and a more caring environment.

When you leave Canal De Amour walk straight over the bridge (passing Loxides, Blondy's) and keep walking till you get to the T-junction by the Three Little Pigs and Siesta. Turn right and walk up about 50-75 yards. Mythos is on your left just past Alkion Sidari Hotel. Give our regards to the brothers and make sure you haven't eaten all day!

Siobhan (from US or UK, whichever). If you care to read our other comments you'll find we're NOT serial complainers. In fact I think you'll find glowing praise for all other venues.

For the record - just so you stop making assumptions about how many times we've been to Greece - it was my second time to the country. My fiance Kerrie has been 14 times. Hardly Greek 'virgins' are we?
Still, you stick to your assumptions - you obviously know us better than we know ourselves.

We're merely using our right to make comments on how we found Loxides. Like I said, I hope my comments were taken constructively as I didn't mean to offend.

Well done about your assumption that we are Big Brother fans - one correct assumption out of many is pretty good going. Sadly we only got to watch it once during our 14 night stay as we were actually on holiday and found other things to do at night, such as visit the excellent Mythos, the friendly Blondy's, laughing at the hyptonist's poor jokes, admiring the beautful sea views from BED bar, passing the time of night with friends we made out there and generally doing what most people do on a holiday.

We just happen to expect more for our money. The only assumption WE made was that our hotel would match the 3 stars that were advertised in our brochure.

It's just a shame people are unable to make comments without being subjected to personal and ill-informed attacks.
