Panos Apartments - (Accommodation in Acharavi)

Jon I

20th Sept - 27th Sept 2004....This was our first trip to Panos and we loved it! We were droppped off in the middle of the night and not shown to our rooms, which was a bad start, but it just got better from there. If no one meets you, just try to find your room number, as our door just had the key left in the lock - NICE WELCOME! The useless LIBRA reps told us we would be met. The reps were TERRIBLE! The apartments are clean. The shower in our room (number18) did not work very well at all, but this was the only real problem with the room. Safety deposit boxes are available for rent, but we did not bother as the place seemed very "safe" excuse the pun. We read many glowing reviews of the pool bar, which we agree was very pleasant, but Sam and Alison just didn't give us the welcome we were expecting - maybe we were just unlucky, but we spent every meal after our first breakfast dining elsewhere. The pool is a good size and very, very clean but shelves away quite rapidly (be careful with kids!) and it is a sniff under ten feet at the deep end. The gardens are very well kept - VERY GREEN! Ten minutes steep downhill walk gets you into Acharavi centre. The walk back to panos is quite an effort, so if you have trouble walking, this may not be the place for you. It does get easier after four or five trips! Eating out is cheap and very, very good. We recommend Acharavi Park (superb), The Lemon Garden and the Pumphouse and then Yammas Bar for great breakfasts and cocktails. The people at Yammas were superb and made our holiday better than we could've expected. They did the Libra rep's job for them! Don't hire a moped unless you really have to. The libra rep had two holidaymakers killed since she had been there. Car hire is cheap, but read small print. Yamas Cocktail Bar - (Bars in Acharavi)

Jon I

LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT!!! This was the first bar we stumbled upon and we were made to feel very welcome. Music is great, drinks are great and the staff are great! Sounds cheesey, but it's true! Big thanks to the lovely Katarina, who became our Mum for the week and gave us top advice about where to go and what to do. Panos was very friendly and made us feel welcome from the minute we walked in. Katarina cooks the best Full English and they are open early, so you can get your fill before you embark upon your overpriced, wasp infested barbeque on the beach! We will return! PS didn't think much of the hunks, but i'm sure my girlfriend did! Babes were good, but became blurred after an orgasm or two (cocktail....that is!) If you want to know anything about Acharavi, feel free to drop me a line joniresonuk@yahoo.co.uk - i'll try to help if i can.

Libra - (Tour Operators on Corfu)

Jon I

Hmm, how do we put this politely? The Libra reps are RUBBISH! We were dumped at Panos Apartments at 1AM and we had been PROMISED that someone would meet us - LOW AND BEHOLD nobody there - Our key was left in our apartment door for us to find. Not a good start to our holiday. We had the "Rep Talk" on day one with Sharon, who sold us excursions, which turned out to be overpriced. We went on the castaway cruise, which was SH%T. Overcrowded boat, very stoney beach, reps sunning themselves and reading books all day rather than getting us into the holiday spirit, rubbish food (diet chicken leg and ropey salad), Mutant wasps with attitude, no assistance for older people when getting back on the boat (i ended up helping) They were more interested in getting groped by some Hairy, Greek Bloke. Airport was a free for all - be prepared to stand around for a while! Any questions we had, were avoided or met with "i don't know". At least if we go back again, we know the drill and we can just ignore them - that's what they did to us!!!! In the future, If we can, we will avoid Libra like the plague. HAVE FUN HOLIDAYMAKERS!!!!! PS Acharavi is Superb.
