Stathis - (Accommodation in Roda)

David F

The accommodation was in the ground floor part of the apartments. These are four twin bed ‘studio’ apartments.
It is immediately apparent that the 4 apartments were originally 2 apartments.
The apartments consist of 2 rooms. One room containing a single wardrobe, 2 single beds, a small table and 1 dining chair, at one end of the room there is a sink with a 2 ring hotplate for cooking, sufficient pots and pans and crockery is supplied, plus an electric kettle. The other room is the bath room, containing a shower, toilet and sink.. Both rooms have a window at one end. The bedroom window looks out onto a verandah (for the use of the occupiers of the end apartments and a jungle of trees and weeds. On the last day of our stay there was some effort made to do something with this “garden!!!!” , possibly as a result of complaints.
This accommodation is so cramped and short of storage space that it is useless for any activity other than sleeping in. To attempt to cook a meal or to spend any time in it between trips out and about in Roda, would be impossible. Being on the ground floor it is necessary to close the windows most of the time and this together with the thick foliage just outside gives the feeling of being in a cave.

Bernies Grill - (Restaurants in Roda)

Bernie and Nicko are very friendly and hospitable. The food is good plain cooking and the portions would “choke a donkey”. Bernie is originally from Northern Ireland and her “Ulster Fry” all day breakfast is memorable. Most of Bernie’s customers become regulars during their stay in Roda so the clientele get to know each other, it’s almost like being in an exclisive club. A very friendly couple. Knowing them makes your holiday that bit better.
