Silver Beach Hotel

Accommodation in Roda

Our room was on the top floor so it was quite modern and clean. Don't go to the Silver Beach if you have kids, it is not geared up for kids. No facilities (i.e. highchairs) and no food that kids will eat. Take/buy a sun umbrella as they are very scarce around the pool and you need to go down early to put towels on sunbeds. Quite noisy at night because right next to a busy road. Roda is nice resort if you want a quiet holiday. Crusoes is an excellent and friendly pub and Niko's is a really great resturaunt.

In fairness, Corfu and the Silver Beach was our first experience of Greece - & it was very good. We returned to the SB a year later, albeit with cheap tickets. The hotel is excellent, Roda is charming. A little village. If you go, eat at Cafe Agra and the Roda Star (but as always, check your childrens' meals.) Cafe Agra is a gem.
Go to Paleakatristsa. Walk Corfu Town. Hire motorcycles and traverse the Pantokratarus. As for the SB, the old man is like something out of 'Casablanca', the food is "not that bad", but Spiros and his sister are wonderful. Watch out for the Son-in-Law, he's a doctor! Isn't life wonderfull!

if you want to shed a few pounds in weight, then go to the Silver Beach Hotel in Roda. The food was repetitive, recycled and quite frankly disgusting. Bones sticking out of a casserole ain't my idea of appetising. Beware of rooms on the ground floor. upper floors were added later and lower rooms are mouldy and uninviting. Look out for the old chap on reception - creepy - follows you around and barks at the kids.
No laundry facilities unless you wish to pay extortionate amount to have it washed in the village. (not dried)
A few tips; go to the local shops to hire fans, much cheaper than the hotel.
Eat out!!
Try not to be ill - local doctors only interested in policy excesses.
Try the Alexandros studios or Theodoros.

Roda itself great little spot, very safe for the kids and most people very welcoming.
Another tip ! DO NOT wear white socks when visiting the Mistral bar. You have been warned!!
