St George Sth

Resorts on Corfu

Lisa P

My Husband and I visited St George South from 9th July to 16th July 2004 and had a wonderful time. The resort itself was not too packed, although this was prior to school holidays. Bars and restaurants provided excellent service and their hospitality was second to none.

We stayed at Garden of Eden, and must say that the staff there were absolutely fabulous. Their pool and snack bar facilities make it a great place to spend your sunny days and then a stroll down to the bars and restaurants in the evening.

We enjoyed it so much we are considering returning prior to the end of the season this year (end of Sept/early Oct).

Enjoy! Lisa and Michael McElhinney

In answer to Marcella Breeze's query regarding a cash point, there is one opposite Hector's supermarket near the little harbour.

Pam Y

In answer to Dave's question re. Garden of Eden; I have never stayed there as we have our own appartment within a couple of minutes walk from the Garden of Eden, but do know that they are probably more than average. On top of this, Sarah who runs the bar is very nice - nothing is too much bother for her. When I am in St. George, I always spend my spare time at their pool.

Glenn M

We stayed at the angelos apartments, which we had heard poor reviews about, they were very basic but clean.no air con but the supermarket round the corner hires upright fans for 1.50 p/day.If i had a choice i wouldnt stay there again, however its a short walk to the beach and not as bad as some make out.

Ron C

This is a great resort. The local people make you feel so welcome.
We stayed at the Golden Sands hotel this year, this like many hotels and appartments in Greece, is basic but clean.
You will enjoy the food in the local tavernas, we had no complaints about any we had. We have been to St George 4 times, it won't be the last.
Try Mad Mikes Bar it's the best.
Have a good time!!

Emma M

in 2 weeks my boyfriend and i are visiting st georges for the 3rd time. it has got to be one of the best resorts in greece. everybody is so friendly, we are big fans of the blue diamond apts.

one of the best restaurants has got to be dimitris' but if you get to know dimitris watch out for the tennis racket!! other great restaurants are zacks and the balcony.

as far as the bars go they are all fantastic especially easy busy. phillip & flora who run easy busy are really nice people. if you get to visit st georges please pop in for a drink or two and ask phillip for his special drink "v****a"! oh lala is also another great bar when we visited for the first time back in september 2000 kirsty was working there along with pedro.

for those of you that visit st georges through thomson or tui theos boat trip is a must!! aqualand is also a great day out.

st georges is a fantastic resourt for couples or families you'll find that if you go once you'll definitely go back. we can't wait!!!

Martin Y

Just returned from St. George. It really is a loveley place and the beaches are fantastic. We found the swimming pools very cold but the weather has been poor in May. We had 3 really cloudy days and only 8 hot days out of 14, but hopefully things will start to improve. The restaurants are really good. You must try The Balcony it is excellent value. Also you must try the breakfast at Mad Mike's bar as it is the best. St. George is a really nice place and we would definetely go back. Watch out for the gipsy's selling flowers as they try and get in your bag.

Elaine T

we had a fantastic holiday in april 2003.We went to the garden of eden ,and it was the best holiday i have been on. Spiros is the owner and he is really friendly. we are planning on going again this september. The accomadation and cooking facilities are very basic but as the food is so cheap you you wont need to cook. If you want me to send you any photos of the area I can e-mail them to you, I have a gorgeous one of the pool and surrounding hills, and of the beaches.

Ilias K

I´ve been to St George STH 3 times before and i love it, Ive made a lot of friends among the locals and differents tourists. and I just want to say that its a trip well worth it. now to the imortant part me and my sis are going down the to work during the summer we`ll be there from june 11:th to august 6:th so if there are any people going down there inbetween those to dates dont hold back....send me a mail before I go down there and we cant meet up for a cup ocg ice tea or so...

peace

dont panic if you are staying at helena studios, they are not as bad as you have heard, (if you are used to greek standards ) we have been going to st george twice a year for the last 8 years we have even spent a few years working their. There is plenty of pools on offer we found SUMMER DREAMS THE BEST POOL IN THE RESORT AND STAMATIS BAR ONE OF THE BEST BARS/TAVERNAS. you will HAVE A GREAT TIME. if you dont like where you are staying go else where you are not tied to one pool try them all. enjoy your holiday well be there during june.

J H

We are going to Helena apartments in St.George South in 2 weeks time.
We have heard that they are disgusting and the pool is full of brown slime. We are all panicking. If anybodys been here or knows of them please let me know, good or bad. Thanks

Chris H

I've been going to corfu for 12 years now last year I had 9 weeks in St georges south.
The beach goes on for ever and even in peak season you can find miles of beach to youself if you're prepared to walk a little.
The 2 best restaurants are in my opinion Panorama run by Alex Dora Kostas and ippocratis. The food and service is excellent and they can not do enough for you. The food is competitively priced, there are cheaper restaurants but you get what you pay for.
Probably the most expensive retaurant is called Kafesas and is run by an eccentric guy called Agi and is wife miriam, Their hospitality is very good all the food is fresh and if You like seafood there is always a vast array of fresh Fish, Lobster, crab mussells and things you've never seen before.
Just up from this restaurant is the village Agaradies which is well worth a look, here you will find typical greek life as you walk through the meandering olive groves you will come across old ladies on their donkeys. In the village you will see all the old Greek men with their toothless smiles drinking their coffee and beer while their wives slog their guts out in the olive groves !!
There is a police station here but it's mostly shut!
A word of warning if you hire a moped or motorcycle the law says you must wear a crash helmet despite what you may see..! the police will stop you and fine you on the spot. However, they are normally very hot in May at the beginning of the season just to show their authority! As a rule of thumb if you just ride around the village and StGeorges South you will be ok without a helmet but once on the main road from Kavos to Corfu town you should wear one!
All the people are really friendly the only time I've ever had any abruptness was in Hectors Supermarket from the boss himself Hector but that was along time ago, you just have to know how to talk to him1
He also owns Anna Studios which are opposite the far superior Dora Studios.
Anna Studios are dark dingy cat infested and come with a complimentary Rodent on the roof..yes a rat! You will of course have use of the pool at Dora studios opposite. These are clean and palatial by comparison. You will always find the staff extremely helpful and polite, Maria is the hardest working cleaner I've ever seen. In the day she cleans the apartments by night her and her husband zeko work in the panorama restaurant. Zeko is always smiling.
If you are lucky enough to stay in Dora studios in August you will meet their son Ronnie who works behind the bar When Sarah is there but when she isn't well that's a different story!!
Sarah is Kostas girlfriend she flits between England and Corfu and is both attractive and articulate it makes a change to have some one educated to talk to behind a bar rather than the usual northern bimbo!
My other half Elaine and I like it so much we even take the children now!
The resort is ideal for kids and disabled as its mostly flat.
If you go for a walk via the sandunes to the Korrissian lake don't be suprised if you stumble across the odd naturist walking through the dunes.
Any way that enough for now as we're off again for Easter to St George South but the good thing is there will be no tourists or kids as Vorfu is shut until May!!!
Kalispera!!!!!!!!

I HAVE BEEN TO THIS AREA OVER 5 TIMES AND EVERY TIME I GO I STAY THERE FOR 6 WEEKS. I LOVE THE PLACE. DURING THE DAY THERE IS THE LOCAL POOLS OF BARS SUCH AS XL AND STAMATIS WHERE YOU CAN PLAY POOL AND WATCH FILMS.AT NIGHT THE PLACE IS GREAT I HAD SO MANY FRIENS IN THE PUBS AND BIKE STALLS.I NEED TO SAY HI TO PAUL AND JASON FROM OH LALA IVE KNOWN PAUL FOR 3 YEARS NOW AND I LOVE HIM TO BITS HES GREAT!
WHEN YOU GO LOOK OUT FOR JASON HE STANDS AT THE ENTRANCE OF OH LALA HES A CHARMER WITH THE LADEZ SO YOU NEED TO WATCH.IN HERE ITS GOOD BUT ITS DEER FOR BOOZE.STAMATIS AND LAGUIDIA ARE HAVE RESONABLE PRICES AND GEORGEOUS GEORGE WHO IVE ALSO KNOWN FOR YEARS IS BRILL!
STAMATIS IS GREAT FOR ENTERTAINMENT THE ALWEYS HAVE FUN NIGHTS WHICH ARE GREAT FUN!I ALSO NEED TO SAY HI TO PETE WHO WORKS AT THE BIKES,JIM AND BEN FROM LAGUDIA

Neil W

we both had the pleasure of returning to st george in june and september 2003. we stayed at the stamatis appt, and found them to be of the highest greek quality, with wondeful staff who could not do enough for you.
we would reccommend stamatis appt and the resort of st george to anyone ....once you have been here you will want to come back again again, we would also recommmend you using the swimming pool at summer dreams, as we found this to be one of the best pools and the cleanest in the area.. yes go to st george and stay with the stamatis family they know how to look after the holiday makers... have a nice time we did and will continue to return to st george twice a year FOREVER ........

Natasha D

Myself and several friends stayed at the angelos apartments and we found them dirty and they were only cleaned every four days and we were limited to one loo roll for a week and not allowed any more if asked. Along with the fact the maids and angelos himself were very unpleasent and rude, are fride door fell off within the first day of our stay and we made a complaint but nothing came of it. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

Beckie J

Lovely resort plenty of supermarkets and restaurants, for excellent food and really cheap lunchtime food try The Sunset Restaurant overlooking the beach, heaps and heaps of food, good service.
Beach lovely, 4euros for two sunbeds with a parasol. Sunbeds on waters edge, very peaceful and beautiful.
Excellent service and evening food in the Balcony restaurant, may have to wait for a table but well worth the wait.
Heaps of mossies and wasps but nothing will deter them, just have to put up with it!
Resort very flat ideal for disabled.

Donna E

Should have been staying in Kavos for the week but was mix up and they placed us in the Dora Apartments at St Georges South. wasn't expecting to enjoy the week but it's been the best holiday ever!! Thomson arranged for us to stay in Kavos for one night but we was only there 4 and half hours and we wanted to go back to St Georges. thankfully Thomson was paying for taxi's so we didn't waste any money. spent all but one night in the Retreat Bar, George, Spiros their wives and Di made us feel very welcome. Everyone really friendly, except the owner of the shop at the end of lane up to the Dora, don't think he likes women!! Theo's boat trip is a must, but be prepared to get soaked. Had excellent time will defiently be going again.

Dannielle C

Loved our time imn St. George, Im Danni, and I came out with my friend Cat. We Had a wicked time in St. George. Good Nightlife, Although i dont agree with what people are saying on that ohh la la place. Girls beware! Its full of Sleezy little English Boys working there, Especially that James that all you poor unfortunates seem to want to call you. He;s probably got every disease in the book! Yuk! We Spent most of our time in Easy Busy (with philp), Lagudia (Hi Gorgeous George!!!), and Stamatis (Hi Themis & DJ John!!!). Probably spent most time in Stamatis, best staff, best bar!
Great Holiday, would go again, Oh and do Jacks flying banana on the beach - its mad!

Lindsay M

I went to st georges between the 29th august and the 13th september with my boyfriend and it was brilliant.
Beach- was very clean and it wasn't too crowded. The sea was very safe, brilliant for children but there wasn't many children about at that time of year. Look out for the dopey alsation roaming about.

Resort- very quiet and peaceful. There are a lot of stary cats and dogs about so if u dont like animals i dont recomend going there. There were a lot of wasps but didnt really cause too much stress. Make sure u take mozzie repelent as they will eat you alive.

Bars/clubs- there is one club called oh la la's which was ok but there was a really great bar called the retreat which was fairly cheap and u have a great laugh with the quiz and kareoke. Stamatis was a good place to drink during happy hour after that it is quite expensive. amstel bottle 2 euros happy hour it was 1 euro wine is very cheap and cocktails are 3 euros during happy hour.

Food- the food was really nice i recommend the balcony, makis, a pizza place on the sea front beautiful pizzas, the blue sea and manos. they are all resonably priced nut manos was the cheapest and great service, makis was expensive but u pay for what u get there i had great king prawns. you will pay about 6 euros for a meal in all of these except makis and the blue sea but they do great cheap specials. a half litre of wine is between 2 and 4 euros depends where u go. the pizza place on the front was the cheapest for wine at 2 euros.

Money- the euro has made things more expensive but it is still really cheap if u look aroung. do not go to the iron dragon chinese restaurant as it is awful and expensive. beers are pricey when happy hour finishes. cigarettes are cheap.

Weather- it was boiling during the first week but it got a lot cooler during the second week and it did pour down with rain and had thunder storms a couple of times. i wouldn't go on the second week of september for just the week as it wasn't too nice. some people came then for a week and were dissapointed because they couldn't get a great tan but they do show great cinema films in the pubs when it rains so i had a great time.

would i go again?????? deffo i had a great time and say hi to george in the retreat for me please!

Jade

Natasha D

Myself and five friends have just returned from st georges, we found the place very quiet as there wasnt much night life apart from one bar/club called oh la la which stayed open until 5am. The staff there were very friendly if not too friendly along with one member of staff going by the name of Paul having STI'S which he passed onto my friend. You know who you are! So if anybodies going there BEWARE of a young boy called paul! the rest of the gang were lovely which included Shrek aka Jason, James and Gemma. Lots of hugs and kisses from Natasha, Kerry, Becky, Jenny, Steph and Mark x

Rachael P

hi Jo my boyfriend and i are going to st georges in corfu on the 29th of august also. we r staying in the angelos appartement and i have heard that they r clean but basic. we r 15 mins from the beach and pubs. would u like to meet up for a drink. taxis are very expensive and could cost u £30 each way to kavos. hope this was some help. we are 20 and22 years old. have a graet hol

Margt L

I have just booked for the Likithos Apts in
2004. The brochure says individually
controlled air con. but on another site a
comment says "no air con in rooms". so which
is correct. no way am I spending 2 weeks in
July without it!

Jo C

My friend and I are female and22. We are off to Corfu for a week on 29th August and would lke some advice. We are staying at the Angelos Apartments: are they clean? How far from the beach and bars? Also, how much does a cab cost to get to Kavos? Is it worth it, or is the night life good enough in St Georges?

Irene G

Forgot to mention we stayed at Garden of eden st george south

Irene G

Great late hol.sarah @ Kim who ran bar very good company, made my daughter Mags @ I feel very welcome which more than added to the charm of the place. We hope to go again sometime if our husbands let us!!!

Lindsay M

My boyfreind and i age 19 and 21 are going to st georges on the 29th of august and we are staying in the angelos appartments. does anyone have any information on the appartment and is there any couples going there at the same time that would like to meet up. Is the 'la la' bar in st georges or in sidari?

Helen M

Hi. I'm looking to go away in a couple of weeks time and the best deal I've been offered is for the Palm Beach Hotel in St George South. However I would like to have one or two mad nights while away so does anyone know how much a cab to Kavos would be? I'd be really grateful if anyone could help. Thanks

Kim R

Paradise Apartments are lovelly. Very familly orientated, clean, great pool and gardens. The owners, Katarina and her husband are lovelly people. I spent one week there in June and rebooked again for July - just come back as a matter of fact. Thinking about booking again for september.

Neil G

we stopped at the lord complex 14-21july.what a great place.rula the owner was fantastic pool was great for kids you could go in i tat night.the whole holiday from start to finish was fantastic.we are going again next year for 2weeks.

John S

I go again with my family in August, my 3rd time, the place is well out of the way of any where , yet only 20 min by car to kavos, it has everything you need, apart from a cash machine, the nearest is about 12 miles away. But maybe that's changed now. Don't let that put you off just go prepared, travellers chex and euros are no problem. You can chill, you can party, very family friendly. Corfu's best kept secret, but not for long me thinx... oh and best beaches on the Island.. Happy days!!!!!

Rachael L

just returned from our stay at the Angelos apartments in St George. They were pretty basic, but as we're all teenagers that went, it didn't seem to matter because we didn't spend much time in them. We found the restaurants were good value for money and the nightlife was excellent, especially Oh La La which is a music bar over there. The staff were all friendly and the toga party was brilliant. I hope to go back there again next year with my friends but we might stay in a hotel, The golden sands hotel looked nice and the pool was clean. What more could you want?

Emily C

We had the best time is st George!!! You have to go to oh la la- it really made our holiday!! ITs a wicked little club/bar and you can dance until five. The staff are wicked too!! Golden sands hotel was basic but we had fun fun fun!! enjoy yourself if you're going there, you can have a great time if you let yourself go. Beaches nice too..... emily from brighton

Andy F

hi all great website, family of 18 going to andrianna apts mid aug, appreciate any info on apts, location and any maps available of st.george sth, thanks andy

Colin L

Just returned from st geroge sth, liked the place had a good beach which was never crowded, safe swimming if you had kids.
If you want a chill out hols this is it,but still has plenty bars and eating houses.
BIG thumbs down to the garden of eden appartments,YES we know there basic and is in no way a problem to me,but the state of the bathroom was a discrace, other peoples hair and mould on everything.
Did complain to rep,but nothing was done and in the end had to get a bottle of bleach and do it myself.great holiday after that.

Joy H

I have booked a holiday in corfu at the Theodoros studios and apartments in St Georges, and would like to find out if anyone else has stayed there, and what they thought of it. Thanks

Rebekah P

i love it there i have been about 8 times its great. the nightlife is great, OH LA LA is the only nigtclub there but its excellent everyone who works in it is really friendly and some of the male staff r so fit. Its best in there on a saturday night at around 12.00 all the sexy greek lads come in and some of them r georgous especially Nacos and Yannis, at night you will hear about 10 ov them go past on there scooters. The food in the chicken house is fab try the 'pita gyros'. And the balcony restaurant is a good place to eat and if your lucky Costa's will sing to u. All the greeks are very friendly and great kisser's. if your in your teens you'll have a great time, i see people there who have been loads of times. i'm going back there next year so if you go have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ann C

WE STAYED AT THE LIKITHOS APTS AUG 02 FOR 1 WEEK WITH JMC HOLIDAYS. THE REPS WERE FAB AS WERE THE STAFF AT THE LIKITHOS WHO WERE ALWAYS ON HAND TO HELP. THE LIKITHOS WAS IN A PERFECT LOCATION WITH SHOPS BARS RESTARAUNTS AND BEACH WITHIN A 5 OR 10 MIN WALK. We have just returned from St George South on the 23rd May 03. We had a brilliant time. Stayed at the Paschallia Apartments & they were lovely, clean & well equipped. Nightlife was ok spent most of our time in the Retreat Bar & the Easy Busy. Beach & Sea was excellent. watch out for the SEXY DOUGNUTS MAN he's funny! Spent most of our days lazying on the beach with an ice cold beer from San Carlos The food here is exceptional (the best we thought) Try a Full English Breakfast! yummy!
Horse riding, Jet Ski's & Pedal Bike all great value for money.
Take a trip on one of the boat trips there also really good value for money. THEO'S boat especially!!!
I hope whoever is reading this has a holiday as good as ours & we will definately be going again!

Anne B

We have stayed in St George many times now and have always had a great time we came back on 12 May after staying at the Theodoros apartments which were great and a pleasant walk to the beach and main resort shops. Don't forget to go to Nikos Pool Bar which is straight up the lane from the Chinese restaurant the proprieter is called Bazil and him and his Family are both extremely friendly and helpful.
Have a great time!

Gayle B

Thank you to Sophie for the message about the Palm Beach Hotel, we booked 3 weeks ago and are going there on the 21st June for a week. I have read comments about the hotel from last year and they were not favourable..it's nice to know I can look forward to going instead of dreading it!

Jodie B

were stayin in the blue diamond apartments in st georges south mi july and i cant seem to find any info about st georges south itself!! can anyone help??

Sophie C

YOU LUCKY LUCKY PEOPLE GOING TO THE PALM BEACH HOTEL, ST GEORGE!!! My friend and I have just got back from a week there, and we had such a FANTASTIC time!! I had booked it late via teletext and was a bit aprehensive as to what it was going to be like but I am pleased to say I had absolutely NOTHING to worry about. The hotel is lovely (especially this time of year when it's not too busy) and the staff are just great especially those working at the pool bar! The pool is gorgeous, and views from hotel rooms are beautiful (if you have a sea view room). The location is brilliant and the weather was a hot 35 degrees everyday. There are many bars and tavernas to choose from along the 1.5km strip and everyone is so friendly! The beach is better at the opposite end of the resort however but the sea is clean wherever you are. I didn't think the resort was that cheap, but i think that's partly to do with the euro, and also because it's quite a secluded resort. To conclude, i would DEFINITELY go back. Infact I'm starting to plan my return trip in September!

Jason B

Message for Julie - The Palm Beach is a new hotel thats only just started trading recently. As with all new ventures there's always hiccups at the beginning but hey you learn by your mistakes. I'd heard of a few problems earlier on in the season but having read reports recently things seem to be getting better. Your in a good location morealess right on the beach with shops, bars and restaurants on your doorstep.

Julie H

Thanks Jayne, have you any knowledge of palm beach hotel in St george corfu as we have read differing reports on the net?

Jayne D

This is such a fantastic resort. We love it so much. We went twice last year and goin twice again this year. I can't wait. Anything any of you need to know then just ask cos I'll try my best to help. I'm pretty good with knowledge on the resort of St George cos I've been about 12 times
